General :: Full Screen Widgets Missing For Homescreen After Upgrade?
Jan 8, 2014I just upgraded to latest android version but the only issue im having is that certain 4x4 widgets are now only available for the lockscreen rather than the home screen...
Is there any way to get these 4x4 widgets to work for the homescreen like before? Maybe there is a certain mod?
HTC Desire :: "Official" File But Widgets Missing
Oct 3, 2010OK, I used the suggested official unbranded RUU from Shipped ROMS to restore my SIM-free and unbranded Desire to stock but it seems that there are various things missing. I have no email widget and there is no Mobile Network toggle widget under Settings>Power control (in fact, there are none of the usual toggle widgets in there). It just seems to be missing other things that I can't put my finger on as well.I'm re-rooting to reset my battery stats anyway so can someone point me towards a file that is, without question, the right file for a UK unbranded and SIM-free Desire? Need to send it back to HTC when I get my Desire HD so they can sort my overheating issue out prior to selling it.

Aug 30, 2010how many times do I have to do that little disable described in the 2.1 root thread? Do I do it every time I redo my OS or just the one time that I've rooted? When I did the input's in command prompt, I was in the actual OS and I didn't receive any errors, but it didn't confirm that I disabled them or anything.

Feb 1, 2010I know there isn't a firmware update but for the past 2 days when I go in and check for Firmware updates it says "checking for Firmware update" then it just dissapears, it no longer comes back with "No update available". Anyone else having this problem? I powercycled and pulled the battery and it still does this. It also fails updating my profile and fails updating the PRL. All other data features work just fine.

Feb 12, 2010Ive only had my Hero for a week, however I've noticed that when I update an app, the icon is duplicated when I go to "All Programs." Its cluttering my Programs page because there's double of like 25% of my apps. The only way I've been able to fix this is to uninstall and then install it again. Is there any way to fix this??

Jan 9, 2010I recently got a brown Hero from Carphone Warehouse on Vodafone (30, 300 mins, unl.txt & data, 24 months) and I'm over the moon with it. I'm so glad I didn't do what all the sheep in my office have done and get an iphone.
I had read that the Hero is pretty laggy but a firmware update would sort it out. It does lag sometimes, yeah but no big deal. I thought I'd still get the firmware update though, so I've been checking out the best way to do it. Here's the problem: On the HTC download page the generic ROM upgrade is v.2.73.405.5, but I'm already running 2.73.405.66, so I didn't install it. The 3UK users though get to download 2.73.771.73, but with my serial I can't get it.
How much difference do the firmare updates make? How can I get the latest one? I'm feeling a bit gutted that only 3 and Orange are getting properly supported by the folks at HTC. Why not support the other networks in this way?

The 2 biggest issues people were having with 5.4 were:Custom (blue) theme. 5.5 will use a zip-aligned version of stock Rosie (HTC Sense) with the ability to add custom themes via OTA.
Network location fix not working unless GPS was on during boot. This is now supposedly fixed. Other points of interest:Multi-Language (Keyboard Only). Gallery 3D 100% working. The following issues still exist:MMS Issue, (fix is available within the Villain forum).
Split messages (Hotfix coming soon)
No Voicemail indication

I updated firmware to 1.5 about a month ago and I have installed apps since then with success, I just can't do it now. Argh! It's really annoying.Are there settings I can check, or change the way it downloads? I'm trying to download over secure wifi and it doesn't seem to matter if the battery's fully charged or not.

I'm looking at buying an unlocked Hero from mobile phones direct.co.uk, whenever they start selling them. I'm only hesitant about what if any support I'd lose from not buying directly from a carrier. How do Android OTA updates work on unlocked phones? Also, can anyone speculate yet how HTC is going to be handling its updates? Will it push through the carriers? If I buy unlocked and get a contract through Voda phone (who is not officially carrying the phone) will I be the last one on the block to get my updates? Or will I need to root my phone and install them all myself?

When I click on any of the top 3 update options (Firmware, Profile, or PRL) the option turns green while my finger is on it but doesn't respond. This happened in the weeks before the 2.1 update also, but I just stuck it out, and after the 2.1 update it worked again - until recently. Now no updates can be requested. No root. Any ideas?

HTC Hero :: Weather Forecast Updates With No Data Connection?
Oct 2, 2009I'm the happy owner of an Hero since one week but I have an "issue" with the Weather widget, the widget itself and the info under the clock in the home page. I live in France but I work in another country, I've not enabled auto data roaming as it costs a lot. Problem is that at 6:30am for instance the forecasts are updated, then I cross the border, data mode becomes disable and then 6h after, the logo still shows a moon and the 7C based on 6:30 update. And it stays in this useless state until 6pm when I leave the roaming mode returning to France.
How can I make the 2 widgets showing estimated forecast (looks like 3 days are available) even if no update is possible ? Before the Hero I was using a Winphone with SBP Mobile Shell and the weather widget was taking care of the time of the day to change the logo/forecast even not connected. If not possible with the HTC, could you point me to a weather widget more "clever" than this one?

Jun 30, 2010Since I know about the known issue of Hero G-sensor not able to save the calibration. I waited till I get the 2.1 hoping this will fix the issue. Right now. Nor does it not fix the issue I cant find the option anymore Bubble calibrates and remebers okay. But those apps like google sky or teeter arent affected by that Some apps have their own calibrations like bubble - works well or papi jump. But abduction with its own calibration wont work. Suspecting that google sky map and others wont work either. Anyone happy with 2.1 (+ more issues in this forum) like me? And anyone know where i could find the setting in 2.1? Am either blind or its not there. The advice with the tapping and turning and tapping etc did it work for anyone?

Apr 9, 2010Well, today I was using my phone, and I hooked it up to a PC to copy a file off the SD card. I turned off USB storage, unplugged it, and went to set a new wallpaper when I realized... some of them were missing... I checked other folders and sure enough, magically missing pictures..
Now I have seen this happen where it won't see all my audio files, but eventually it kind of just fixes itself and sees them all, but I browsed the SD card, and I cannot even see the missing pictures.. I assume my SD card is corrupting and I should format it. Is this the kind of symptom you'd see when that happens? Or is the SD card physically bad?

May 4, 2010I have been missing many calls from my Hero more than any other Sprint phone I owned, has anyone experienced this issue? not even a ring, full bars of signal strength and goes to voicemail at times, not all the time but my wife says it happens a lot when she tries to contact me, any suggestions folks? May 20, 2010I want to use speech to text which I thought was going to be in this update. I installed Better Keyboard and Swipe keyboard. I enabled both in the settings (they are checked), but when I click the options button on the keyboard and try to select a keyboard, I only get the 3 standard options (QWERTY, Phone, Compact QWERTY). Any ideas why?
