Jun 4, 2010My phone storage is nearly full so there's a constant notification saying "phone storage space is getting low". Isn't that what memory cards are for? I don't get it.

View 22 Replies View RelatedJust got a notification that my phone storage space is getting low..only 6mbs left..and I did see a thread someone mentioned things not getting deleted from memory and I cant seem to free up any space deleting apps or scenes either.
Very confused as I only have 15ish~ Apps from the market installed, auto task killer is killing almost everything to up my battery life, I delete most of my emails..
Im also now experiencing a ton of lock-ups when trying to scroll through things like my application list, sometimes screens, loading the mail app etc..
This just started happening yesterday/today and before that it was running flawlessly.
Why doesn't the notification panel pop up or show while in other apps... and this is off topic but why is my keyboard lagging so much as I type this....any way when I get an email or something I have to go to the home screen then the notification panel...hmm I love this phone I just wished It multitasked as well as the pre....
View 4 Replies View RelatedHad my Samsung Moment for about a month. LOVE IT. Few issues (same as everyone else has noticed), but nothing terrible. Until: Randomly today TWO Notifications popped up that said "Low on space Phone storage space is getting low." One was what seemed to be from the "hardware" and the other was from the "Work Mail" app (which I don't use, haven't used, haven't even opened). When I click it, it takes me to the Manager screen. So, I began uninstalling some apps I don't really use (I didn't have that many anyway...a couple of games [Solitaire, etc], Facebook, Notes). It started running really slowly and random Force Close messages would appear for things like android.process, messaging--things that have never Force Closed before. I turned it off (pressed and held the red button), waited a few seconds, then turned it back on again. Immediately after the "Sprint" logo lights show finished, I got another Force Close message. When the Home Screen showed up, I had the two notifications again "Low on space". When I cleared the notifications, only the "Work Mail" one would clear. I went through and deleted some more apps that I don't use. Got on my computer & Googled the issue. Found a couple of random forums that suggested cleaning out the Cache in the Browser. I did that. Cleaned the History & Cookies in the Browser, too. Then, I did a soft reset (took out the battery). Started it up again, SAME notifications. Less Force Close messages. But, it's running VERY slowly.
After a few hours, I noticed that I hadn't received any text messages or Gmail notifications. I had my sister text me about 2 hours ago. Still have not received it.
I really don't want to hard reset. I haven't synced my contacts (I have over 400 & the Sprint store had trouble moving them from my Centro to the Moment) to Google yet, nor have I hooked my Moment up to my Mac yet (the Sprint guys had no idea if it would work or not with Snow Leopard & I hadn't had time to check yet) and I'm worried to try it now that my Moment has gone crazy...I really don't want to lose 400 contacts.I don't download a lot of apps. Most are reputable (Pandora, MotherTED, Shazam, Movies, Jewels). The last one I remember downloading was Google Voice three days ago (which I haven't really used because I've had the flu). I don't know if this is a Malware/Virus issue or if I'm just an idiot & did something wrong. But, it's running REALLY slowly right now. Still not receiving texts or emails (though my Twitter app has notified me of a couple of @ replies).I'm going to call Sprint & Samsung tomorrow, then go to a Sprint tech store if they can't help. But, I'm just hoping one of you have come across this & can help before I have to deal with hours of hold music & techies who tell me to soft reset over & over again.
BTW:
After awhile, I finally checked the storage space:
External SD care: Total: 1.89; Available: 1.85
Internal: About 2 hours ago when I first checked, after I had deleted a bunch of apps it said I had 7.something MB, now (after not downloading ANYTHING or barely even TOUCHING the damn thing) it says 1.95MB. Which leads me to believe that the 7.whatever was not necessarily accurate.
My phone keeps telling me this in my notification bar and its bugging the crap out of me. My intenal phone storage has over 6gb free and my SD card has 1.3 gb free. The notification will not go away, I have tried rebooting my phone. I can't not stand it, its just one of my things, but it makes me want to not use my phone. OCD i guess.Anyway, PLEASE tell me why it is doing this
View 49 Replies View Relatedi got this notification yesterday so i deleted some apps and all my text messages but i cant get rid of it now!
any ideas?
So when I get texts, gmail, completed app downloads, etc I get notification icons at the top as usual. When I slide the notification bar down to reveal the nofications and click on an item, the notification screen doesn't hide back to the top of my phone -- it just stays open. I either have to hide it manually or I have to hit the back button, which sometimes exits the app I was trying to open. 2.1 never did this for me, it always hid when choosing an item. Anyone have a solution to this? I've done a factory reset after 2.2 btw. I've also searched support to see if there was a similar problem, no similar threads.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded swype but it doesn't auto space like the instructional videos show. Is that a setting I need to change or does it not auto space on droid? I have auto space on but it doesn't work.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am running Villainrom 1.0.0 on my desire for just under a week now and since the second day of having the new rom I keep getting "Low on Space" notifications. I've tried to clear all the cache and remove apps that I don't need but still keep getting these errors. My device is only showing that I have 147MB of memory when I thought these devices had 512MB? I've spoken to other non-rooted desire users and they say they have never had this problem. Its a little frustrating that I need to keep removing applications and stuff.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll day it keeps saying I'm low on space in my notification bar and I'm not. Phone memory is 4gb and sd card is 32gb. The memory it uses for app usage is not low either. The problem is that I can't use Google talk. It just auto closes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been running xtrROM 3.0.3 for almost 2 weeks and love it. However in the last few days I have come across an issue. I am now getting a notification that my phone is "LOW ON SPACE phone storage space is getting low". I am currently showing 14.2m free on my phone. My phone is not overclocked. My current apps list is found here:
fhsfish's Apps on the HTC Droid Eris
A2SD and JIT are not enabled
The phone notification says "Low on space, phone storage space is getting low" I only have like 10 apps installed on this phone and I thought it's using flashdrive, no? If not, is there a way to install apps on flashdrive instead to the phone memory? What is the capacity of the internal memory anyway? I never had this problem with iphone before and it's worrying me that I can't install many apps as I would like...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running 2.1 on the Cellular South East network. I have received a notification that my Desire since is low on space, but I have over 100 mb of free memory. After a bit of research, I read that I should try to clear application caches. I used the application manager but the "clear cache " button for each application is greyed-out. I then read to wait a minute or so to allow all data to load. I waited 3 minutes, but I still couldn't clear any caches. Why I can't clear a cache?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have free space on the internal memory of my phone that is not recognized for things like installing an app.
This is my phone:
Model: Motorola XT919
Android version: jelly bean 4.1.2
Internal memory: 4gb (really 2,2 gb free since the rest is used by the OS)
Rooted: Yes
I found out about this problem because I was running out of internal space so I inmediately checked the storage settings and I found this:
In the installed apps settings it shows 766 mb free of internal space But in the storage settings the things are different: As you can see, this time I only have 127 mb free of internal storage....
Just to be sure, I downloaded the app Storage Analyser and once again checked the internal storage free space: And this time shows 1,52 gb free...
Well the thing is that my phone considers as free space just the 127mb shown on storage settings, and I want the phone also uses the free space shown on the app settings or the one shown by storage analyser.
I have just recieved a notification a few days ago saying the phone storage space is getting low. I don't understand why this notification has come up. I cleared all of the cache from the applications and it still remains. I have a decent amount of apps downloaded but I used to have a lot more downloaded and never had this problem before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a notification which says the phone storage space is getting low. Any idea how to move anything from the phone memory to the sd? Or how to make downloads go to the sd? The sd is only quarter full.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi got the nexus 4. I dont know why everytime i update or install an app and when completed, i got a popup in front bottom that says internal storagespace left: 2gb, 3gb..
its so annoying while updating apps in the background and this kees popping up while an app is done with the update.
I have a count down timer that when it goes off (to zero) it checks to see if the app has focus. If not it launches a notification in the notification bar. When you click on the notification is re-opens the app. Now all of this works fine but if the screen happens to go off, the timer keeps going and the notification is available at the right time but never actually vibrates or rings until i turn the screen back on. Then it displays the notification like it was waiting in a queue or something.
How do I get it so that the notification manager will actually alert the user when the screen is turned off?
Update: If I set the timer for 2 minutes, it takes another 2-3 minutes for the notification to actually work. So it does work but it's on a huge delay! Code: So I setup the notification service when the app loses focus, and when the MyCount1 is finished is checks if the app has focus and if not it shows the notification. This all works when the screen backlight is on. Once it goes off it is unreliable.
@Override
public void onWindowFocusChanged(boolean hasFocus){
if(hasFocus == false){
mFocusFlag = false;
ns = Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE;
mNotificationManager = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(ns);
icon = R.drawable.statusbar;
tickerText = "Check the timer!!!";......................................
I used "ringdroid" to make notification and ringtone sounds and they show up on the lists but only the ringtones work. And even when I try to select a default notification sound, it doesn't change to it, its stays the same as when the one that it was set to when i got the phone. Any ideas what might be causing this and how to resolve it?
View 7 Replies View Relatedare there any apps that can notify me but dont need me to set a polling interval to check for new fb posts/twitter messages? bloo seems a bit too random as it doesnt always notify me on every notification and it seems a bit too slow compared to the official app which i like.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a htc Legend with cm7 and the included ADW.Launcher. When I apply a theme, the notification bar doesn't get themed. It wasn't always like this. I'm guessing this is maybe some sort of permissions issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEDIT - I'm still getting low space now at 339MB free...I've never gotten it this low before though. Wonder what the issue is now? So I've been a victim of this problem like many people and I did something counter-intuitive that ended up finding the solution. I remembered I never had a problem before Froyo and how people had this issue at varying storage levels. Taking a wild guess, I moved any and ALL apps that were on the SD card back to the phone. Yes makes no sense right? Well guess what, it works!! It seems the Froyo build we have on our phones (I'm running Stock 2.2) has some nasty bug in App2SD that causes this issue. Want proof? I was always getting the error at around 430-450MB free recently. Randomly of course. Now? after moving all SD apps back to phone I'm down to 345MB with no issue. I even installed Fennec (was always a hassle before) straight on phone and ran it without getting the notification.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an android background Service that will occasionally post a notification to the Status Bar using the Notification class. Occasionally, when I receive a notification, pull-down the notification window, and select the notification from the list, the specified Activity doesn't start. View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my Samsung galaxy s4 for a while, and I've never had a problem. But now, if I get a new text message, it doesn't ring or put the envelope in my notification bar. The only way to know is to go into my messages and see the new messages. I've resetted my messaging settings, but it still doesn't tell me that I have a text message. Other apps like Snapchat and Facebook notifications work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedA FACTORY RESET is not an option for most people so I've been looking elsewhere for solutions to this annoying notification memory problem. My research has shown me that this error doesn't appear to be the same for everyone.
Some people have a problem with the HTC mail app (better settings below)
Some people have a problem with the internet browser cache.
Some people have a problem with the Peep cache.
Some people have too many messages- have to delete
Some people have an insanely large call history- have to delete HTC MAIL SETTINGS- these settings changes had a short term affect (one week)SETTING 1
MAIL>Menu>more>Settings>General settings>Temporary attachment storage> SD card
SETTING 2
Send & receive> mail size limit> no limit My possible solution- hopefully long term
Clear the contact storage cache
SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>MANAGE APPLICATIONS>CONTACT STORAGE>clear cache I'm curious if this solution is longterm or not. I cleared the peep and browser cache but it only helped for 2 days. Taking off the HTC MAIL app also only had a temporary effect. Does clearing the CONTACT STORAGE cache have a long term effect?
