HTC Hero :: Looking For Specific Dates In Browser History / Connecting To PC?
Sep 8, 2010
Is there a way to look at specific days in the browsers history, possibly by connecting to my PC?
My bill lists two huge and expensive downloads and I am sceptical about them. I'd like to see what pages I may have browsed on those specific dates (about 2 months ago). The browser history is broken down into Last 5 days, Last month, and More than a month ago which isn't much help.
Or is there some kind of generic GPRS history I can access on the phone to see what connections were made at the time?

I transitioned from a Windows Mobile Device that synced with outlook calendar. I often create appointments that recur a set number of times (say every Tues afternoon for 3 weeks). Outlook lets me choose when to end the recurrence. However, I can't seem to get the HTC Hero calendar to let me choose a stop date on recurrence. I can choose weekly recurrence, but no end date.
Anyone know how I can get end dates for the recurrence?

Is there a history option for the stock Droid browser? There are some sites I have been to but didn't bookmark them and am wondering if there is a way I can go and locate those sites!

During my activity I'm sending an intent to the browser in order to display a webpage :
Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("http://ww.mywebpage.com"); startActivity(i);
I need to make sure that before sending the intent the browser cache and history are cleared so that the page get loaded from server directly and not from phone.
So far I've found the 2 following but I'm not sure they are used correctly :
Browser.clearHistory(getContentResolver());
Browser.clearSearches(getContentResolver());
Also with that cache is not cleared.

I don't know if this is an Android in general or Desire specific problem but I imagine all the sharpest minds have HTC Desires anyway so here goes:How do you get rid of the trail of previously visited sites that you step back though in the browser when you press the phone's back button? After clearing the history these pages persist and it seems the only way to lose them is to step back though each of them with the back button until you reach your home page when the next press finally 'closes' the browser. It's very annoying, especially if any of the pages you've visited have POST data or redirects.

My friend doesn't want the browser to keep any history. He's tired of clearing it!. I think he may use this phone for pron sometimes and when the GF reaches for the phone in the morning to check the weather, fooking autocomplete gives him away. Then he has to deal with being in the doghouse until next morning when she sees it again.
*Can a mod help me by moving this to the correct forum, I may have accidentally added a click before choosing to start the thread.*

Is there a faster way to delete the Download History on Android phones; instead of having to click each and every item in the history? Every thread I find dealing with deleting the Download History, has to do with deleting the normal browser history, not the Download History.
So is there an easier way? Because I just spent 10 minutes deleting each and every item in my Download History and there has to be an easier way of doing this.

When a user clicks the "about" button in my app's menu I want it to open the browser and go to a specific webpage. Is there like a one - liner out there somewhere to do this? Seems simple but Google is not being helpful right now - or I'm just searching the wrong thing.

1. User click one button on Activity#1 to start Activity#2.
2. One button on Activity#2 start system default browser(Intent.ACTION_VIEW) to get Twitter authorized.
3. After user allow, Twitter redirect user to Activity#2(Custom intent- filter+data) and it save the tokens.
Now, if I press back key, the app back to browser, how to prevent this and return to Activity#1? Try several Intent.Flag before start browser with no luck.

I have a good WiFi connection, but my browsing seems like it is going over the cellular connection. How can I force it to go via my WiFi, or can I? It just seems very slow, no different from being in the car.

There are a couple of options within the browser I didn't find until after searching for it, so I thought I would share it with the rest of the community in order to help out.
-Everyone should clear the browser cache and previous history in order to save internal phone memory. To do this go to BROWSER press the MENU button and press MORE. There should be a list of things in there but what you should be interested in is the last item which is SETTINGS. From there in privacy settings there will be options to clear both cache and history.
- Another little tip I wanted to share was viewing webpages in landscape mode without opening your keyboard. To do this simply press the MENU button from within the BROWSER and go down to FLIP ORIENTATION. You should realize tho by doing this you browser will continue to be in landscape the next time it's used. In order to return it to it's normal portrait mode just follow these steps once again.
-There are a number of other things you can mess around with or find with the MENU button within the browser so just take a look at it yourself even if you don't want to do any of these tips.

I've bought a Xperia X10 a few weeks ago with great expectations, but it lasted with a huge disappointment! Whatever I guess I have to wait for 2.1 update but I am not sure it will satisfy anybody. As I wrote in title there are some serious and annoying problems, I cant sign in my twitter account on the phone because of login and connection problem (however I didnt get any problems at signing in Facebook and Gmail accounts).
Second problem is "missing" Android Market application on the phone. Anyway I found the official .apk (vending.apk) from the net and loaded to my phone but it didnt work and caused freezing and error messages as "not responding / force to close" etc. Also I cant reach to Market site from Browser, no way!
The last and stupid problem is "reseting and deleting" Browser setting and bookmarks without any reason or action like hardreset or even turn on/off the phone! As an example: I set homepage as google.com and later on I checked ok! but for the second use after a couple of time, when I started the browser it opens with SE Wap Page as default and removed my homepage from settings. Also phone deletes the Bookmarks which I add.

I'm working on an app that launches the browser activity to perform a Twitter OAuth authorization. This process uses a callback url which will re-launch the activity that started the browser activity in the first place.My problem is that the browser pages remain in the history stack and when the user then clicks back from the preferences activity that launched the browser in the first place, they don't go back to the app's main activity, but instead are brought back to the browser. I've tried adding flags to the launching intent to prevent history and reset on clear, but it doesn't seem to work when running on my phone, only on the emulators.

I'm a new Hero user in Taiwan.I have encountered an issue with the Call History the phone provides.It only provides the date, followed by yesterday, 2 days ago etc. However, I need to know what time I made and received the calls. I know the information is embedded in the phone somewhere but I can't find it. For example: I receive a call say 3:30pm and I tell my caller I'll arrive in 20 minutes. There is traffic, and I forgot when they called me. The phone will only tell me that they called today which is useless.second complaint. The phone does not tell me my talk time. Is there an application that tells me the minutes I have compiled as well as the time talked for my last call?I've tried downloading Exact Call Log. But it gives me this error message:The Application Exact Call Log (process at.ecl.exactcalllog) has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again.

Downloaded PureCalendar and selected one of the skins that is given during the install process. I added a test appt to see how that worked - I have a monthly view selected at the mo and it shows the month and year and the days of the week across the top, but the actual calendar part of it has not dates showing at all. Is this due to the skin that I selected and should I download/select a better (and nicer-looking!) one? If so where do you recommend that has good ones?

This might sound strange but I want to delete the history of my email addresses on my hero, I'm selling something on craigslist and when I reply to them from my computer or whatever it shows up on my phone and I'm like who the H3ll is this??? and then it dawns on me that it's someone I emailed about the POS Pre I'm selling
If that didn't make sense, basically when I go to shoot an email on my hero, as I'm typing who I'm sending it to, it shows a list of everyone that I've emailed starting with whatever letter I'm pressing, normally and most of the time that's awesome, but sometimes, like the situation I stated above it's a big pain in the arse.

I'm sure there's some of you out there that will be just excited about this as I am. There's now an app called MarketHistoryEraser that will clear you Android Market searches! No, you don't have to be rooted either! I've waited so long for a way to do this without rooting and it's finally possible. I don't know how to post the QR code here but someone may want to.
