Can any one tell me how can we clear browse session history.We have api called Browser.ClearHistory(),this will delete entire records but i want to delete history of browsing session.

to ensure that nothing is left in the history and back button behaves as usual.Unfortunately, this code doesn't work for me and the _articleView.canGoBack() still returns true. Implementation of clearHistory method is quite complex and uses asynchronous mechanism, which may not work immediately, but no matter how much time I wait the history is still there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent as my SMS program. I try to delete all threads (I have test history) and it doesn't take effect. All threads are still there after it asks me. I have cleared data and cache's on both the stock and Handcent apps in my app manager. When trying to delete all threads with my stock program, my phone typically freezes up and forces close. Anyone have similiar experiences, have answers? I even uninstalled Handcent thinking that would clear everything, re-installed and everything was still there.

Also the 'data' was taking up almost 10MB and I'm running low on application disk space (dammit they have to find a way to let us store apps on our sdcards) Anyway.. I did a "clear data" thing on the browser, thinking this would only clear temporary internet files, but it reset everything (wiped out my favorites and saved passwords.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI synced up with my computer after uninstalling unused apps and clearing the browser cache and a few others, just general clean up to keep the phone running smooth. After roaming around my sd card, I came across this. A total of 84 cache files totaling 3.24mb. What is this from and is it ok to delete them? I'm assuming it is since it is just cache, which you can delete any of theme xcept for google nav (force close issues).

I need to make sure that before sending the intent the browser cache and history are cleared so that the page get loaded from server directly and not from phone.
So far I've found the 2 following but I'm not sure they are used correctly :
Browser.clearHistory(getContentResolver());
Browser.clearSearches(getContentResolver());
Also with that cache is not cleared.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a faster way to delete the Download History on Android phones; instead of having to click each and every item in the history? Every thread I find dealing with deleting the Download History, has to do with deleting the normal browser history, not the Download History.
So is there an easier way? Because I just spent 10 minutes deleting each and every item in my Download History and there has to be an easier way of doing this.
1. User click one button on Activity#1 to start Activity#2.
2. One button on Activity#2 start system default browser(Intent.ACTION_VIEW) to get Twitter authorized.
3. After user allow, Twitter redirect user to Activity#2(Custom intent- filter+data) and it save the tokens.
Now, if I press back key, the app back to browser, how to prevent this and return to Activity#1? Try several Intent.Flag before start browser with no luck.
I found the Clear Browser, Clear Cache, and cookies option in the setting and did that, but when i go on craigslist on the droid browser it still shows on what Ive previously clicked on. does anyone know how to clear this so that it looks like Ive never been on the site?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere are a couple of options within the browser I didn't find until after searching for it, so I thought I would share it with the rest of the community in order to help out.
-Everyone should clear the browser cache and previous history in order to save internal phone memory. To do this go to BROWSER press the MENU button and press MORE. There should be a list of things in there but what you should be interested in is the last item which is SETTINGS. From there in privacy settings there will be options to clear both cache and history.
- Another little tip I wanted to share was viewing webpages in landscape mode without opening your keyboard. To do this simply press the MENU button from within the BROWSER and go down to FLIP ORIENTATION. You should realize tho by doing this you browser will continue to be in landscape the next time it's used. In order to return it to it's normal portrait mode just follow these steps once again.
-There are a number of other things you can mess around with or find with the MENU button within the browser so just take a look at it yourself even if you don't want to do any of these tips.
I don't know if this is an Android in general or Desire specific problem but I imagine all the sharpest minds have HTC Desires anyway so here goes:How do you get rid of the trail of previously visited sites that you step back though in the browser when you press the phone's back button? After clearing the history these pages persist and it seems the only way to lose them is to step back though each of them with the back button until you reach your home page when the next press finally 'closes' the browser. It's very annoying, especially if any of the pages you've visited have POST data or redirects.

My bill lists two huge and expensive downloads and I am sceptical about them. I'd like to see what pages I may have browsed on those specific dates (about 2 months ago). The browser history is broken down into Last 5 days, Last month, and More than a month ago which isn't much help.

My friend doesn't want the browser to keep any history. He's tired of clearing it!. I think he may use this phone for pron sometimes and when the GF reaches for the phone in the morning to check the weather, fooking autocomplete gives him away. This process uses a callback url which will re-launch the activity that started the browser activity in the first place.My problem is that the browser pages remain in the history stack and when the user then clicks back from the preferences activity that launched the browser in the first place, they don't go back to the app's main activity, but instead are brought back to the browser. I've tried adding flags to the launching intent to prevent history and reset on clear, but it doesn't seem to work when running on my phone, only on the emulators.

The first is the login.
If I login correctly, I pass to the second activity, and I want download a stream (like twitter), but I cannot keep the session.
I saved user & pass in sharedpreferences, how can i keep the session through all activities?
I have an app that requires user to register. I've got the app conected to PHP in my server to do the logic of register/login and so, this is not problem at all.
But, I want to keep a session of the user in local, so the user doesn't have to login again every time he runs the app.
So, I want something like this:
First time user, he opens the app, register and login. Do some stuff with the app and closes it. Open the app again, the user is recognized so he doesn't need to login again.
I only need to store an ID and a Username (both fetched from the DB in the login php method). What's the best way to do this?
I've thought about doing a custom preference, store the data in files or even a local DB (sqlite).
The user must login through the WebView. Of course, the session is for that WebView.But, what if I need to make REST API calls during my Android application?Those REST API calls need the session to be authenticated , otherwise those will not work. Is there any way I can attach the cookies of WebView into everything I do in Android?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with my application when I make a number of requests using the HttpsUrlConnection class.
My program makes the first request using the HttpsUrlConnection class to retrieve a file. It then makes a second request to the same server to retrieve a different file. What happens however is that periodically I'm getting a -1 HTTP response code on the connection.
When the failure occurs between the two requests I see the following line of trace in logcat:
D/OpenSSLSessionImpl( 699): Freeing OpenSSL session
This seems to happen fairly consistently. If I retry the second request after it has failed it generally works and I get the requested file from the server.
Note that if I don't see the OpenSSL session being freed the second request works fine the first time.
Some other information:
1) I'm not calling disconnect on the connection
2) I'm don't always read the entire file from the server after the first request
3) I always close the InputStream in the event that I get an InputStream on the first connection
How to prevent the OpenSSL session from being freed.
I'm trying to avoid that when a user has connected to Facebook from my webview, the next time he do it, doesn't need to put the email and password. but doesn't work. That cookie I suppose that is not valid because the user has to put his username and his password again and after login, I get a different cookie that the one I had stored. What I'm doing wrong? Is there another way to accomplish that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOk I am at the end of my rope. I am doing some image processing. I have a large image file which I open and create a smaller bitmap from. At the end of processing I call recycle on everything. I null everything. I run GC manually.
I then try edit another image and I get an out of VM memory error. Bitmap exceeds etc etc.
I am looking at the heap and the secone edit doesn't seem to cause it to increase at all.
What else can I do. Surely google cannot possibly be suggesting that we can open one large bitmap per session and thats it?
