I used to have a WinMo phone and I could bring the mobile screen up on the computer using ActiveSync - i.e. I could type my texts,etc on the keyboard like I was typing them on my phone.Does something like this exist for the Hero?If not, do we have something like Nokia suite? Even though we can't see the screen we can type the messages out using the computer keyboard.

This made it so easy to reply to text messages without my boss knowing, or while being lazy in bed.Any type of app like this for Android? I downloaded the SDK but I can only take screenshots with it, I can't control the phone.

The debugging mode notification still pops up though.

Big thanks to Toe-cutter who was very patient with both my lack of knowledge and of patience! I'm looking for some help in connecting my Hero to my computer. I haven't has problems until today but now I can't get the darn phone to connect. I have tried my work computer (Windows XP) and my home computer (Vista) and I have also tried four different usb cables, including the HTC one. I have also done a factory reset, taking the battery out and anything else I can think of including reinstalling the drivers & HTC sync If anyone can help I'd appreciate it - I need to be able to sync my phone to my calendar for work. Oh, by the way - I am not in the slightest way technically competent!
View 24 Replies View RelatedTrying to connect a HTC Hero to my computer, it used to connect ok as i used to use the phone as a modem for my laptop, but now instead of the charger light coming on & charging and the little symbol saying it was connected in the top elft of the screen it ONLY charges the phone but the little symbol doesnt come up in the top left and i cant find the device on my computer, iv tried new cables etc but still no joy, any ideas?

I went to the notifications menu and had it serach for the HTC program. and it said it did not recognize it... But the Sync program was up and running. Also on the left hand corner of the sync program. It said disconnected. What can I do to fix this?

I didn't get any CD with it. I am also wondering if I hard reset my phone back to factory default, will all the apps, etc that were there out of the box, still be there? If I can sync with my computer, can I put my contacts back on from my computer? And, finally, there is a "notice" type "bell" sound every so often on my phone, but I have checked messages and phone calls as well as email, plus there are no notifications at top...what might it be? Today i decided to switch to the fresh2.0d rom and so i placed the zip folder in the root of the sd card. i booted in recovery and selected flash from zip. Once complete, my phone keeps rebooting at the "HTC Quietly brilliant" screen. It does it over and over again. i tried reflashing, taking out the battery and nothing happens. I'm having problems uploading a ringer from my computer to my phone. I sent the ringer using funformobile.com just like all my other phones(storm, instinct, etc.). It downloads the ringer but I can't access it. When I try to open it after I send it it says "no app can be found to open the file". What am I doing wrong???

When I plug my phone into my computer, I don't get anything, either on the phone or on the computer, except that the phone does start charging. I get no "start USB service" or whatever option in the phone and the phone does not show up as a drive. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. I'm guessing it's the cable, but I'd like to confirm before going out and buying another cable.
