How do you add a web shortcut to your home screen? I want to add the "touch site" version of Facebook, but I don't know how.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 4 subscriptions in the news app and the widget on the home screen. The problem is, read news keeps refreshing on the app after i've read and deleted it. If I read all the news, then delete them all so that it's empty, the widget will "load news" and everything will come back. Is this the way it's supposed to work? I thought only unread articles were supposed to sync but mine just keeps loading all the same crap again, as well as new stuff too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Incredible. Recently I realized that I cannot add any of the apps that I download from the Android Market to any of my home screens. If I try to add a program to my home scree, none of the apps recently installed (e.g mint.com, yelp, dictionary) show up in the list. But if I go to "All programs", they are there. Has anyone else had such a problem?

intent.setAction("com.android.launcher.action.INSTALL_SHORTCUT");sendBroadcast(intent);
And that's cool, that really work!
Now I would like to do something different: I have seen that some actions can "register" somewhere to be added in the Android menu, when you long press on the Home like this one:

So my main question is the next one:
How is that possible to register for this menu. I guess there is some line to add in the manifest, but cannot see where to do that!
There is a secondary question: once i will have succeed doing that, may I add a different number of shortcuts in my menu ( imagine That I would like to do that for a multi-account twitter client, I would like to see a different for each twitter account in this list.) So the number of shortcut is programmaticaly computed.
I justed remove some pre-installed apps from my Wildfire, then when I try adding Widgets to home screen, I see the first widget named as #a5ff0000/HTC. I tap on it, an error shown: The process com.htc.RosieUtility has stopped unexpectedly. Can someone tell me explain me what Rosie Utility is, and which app that it may depend on, or some reason causes it stop.

When I go to add the shortcut to my home screen, I get a Force Close, not on my own process, but on com.android.acore(!). I've run the debugger and verified that my code gets executed all the way to the call to finish().
If I do this instead for the EXTRA_SHORTCUT_ICON:
intent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_SHORTCUT_ICON, R.drawable.icon);
It works fine and places the shortcut, and the shortcut behaves correctly -- but of course the shortcut has the stock Android icon, not mine, since this isn't the proper way to specify the icon.
When I look at the source code of other apps that have done this, and at the one example of it in the official Android reference area, my code looks identical. My icon's a standard 48x48 png that I use for the app's main icon, without problems. I've verified this problem on an emulator running stock 1.6, haven't tested other versions.
Can you make a folder within the Apps screen that you pull up? I woild like for instance make a folder called Games and put all the games in this folder to clean up the App Screen a bit. I downloaded App Organizer, but it only seems to put a filder on 1 of the 3 front screens?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI want to add a contact just to my phone and not to my gmail account.Whenever I start to add a contact (phone, 208544.menu, +contact, create new contact,) the next thing it forces me to do is to choose an account to create the new contact under and it lists my 3 gmail accounts.I have no option to just put it on the phone.Any ideas here?We do the same thing on the Incredible but it gives us the gmail account and the phone to choose from but not on the Motorola.

I bought the dock for the droid the other day and i really like the home screen that comes up when you plug the phone into it, but i was wondering is there was anyway to access that screen with out the dock. the screen that im talking about is the one with the music player, photo viewer, dimming the alarm clock, etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is like a default option but i've found thet my X's entire OS goes into landscape mode, including app tray, browser, apps, everything. I haven't downloaded any apps that do this and while its in this mode it wont rotate back to portrait. The only way I could change it back is by rebooting. I haven't found a way to voluntarily recreate this, it just happens, maybe by a certain combination of keys,but I'd like to know how to recreate this. I'm sure its probably really obvious so forgive me for my obliviousness

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe other day I took a trip, put my X in the car dock, and set Nav to my destination. About an hour into my trip, Nav would intermittently close, and would return to the home screen. However, the app wasn't always completely FC'd, but running in the background, and could be returned to by dragging down the Notification bar and reselecting it. This continued for the last 2 hours of my trip and was extremely annoying. Has anyone else experienced this?

Today I installed a new app Vlingo and my apps disappeared off my home screen. I restored from 2 days ago, but I'm getting the same thing. The apps load at first, but within 5 minutes, they go away. Then, if I apply some apps on the now empty screens, they will be on top of the old ones when I reboot.

Well none of them worked and I'm pretty sure I uninstalled all of them. However on the most right side of the home screen it still says Problem Loading Widget..
