Aug 11, 2010Rooted my Eris yesterday and bought set CPU. Disabled perflock yet the high end of set CPU is still only 528. My kernel is 2.6.29-8a03cb9ahtc-kernal@and18-2 #1. what do I need to change?

HTC Eris :: Stuck After Flashing PB00IMG.zip
Apr 29, 2010I have a Droid Eris that I'm trying to flash from 1.5 to the latest rooted ROM 2.1. My first attempt, I copied PB00IMG.zip to the SD card, disconnected the phone, and flashed the firmware while disconnected from the PC. I think that prevented me from gaining root access, because I cannot remount the system directory using the adb commands (gives me access denied). I'm trying now to flash the ROM while still having the phone connected to the PC, but I'm not having much luck, as I am still being denied access.
PB00IMG.zip worked WONDERFULLY on my phone.

May 2, 2010I downloaded Helix launchers 1 and 2 and the first one was compatible with my eris however on the info in the second on it said it will have a FC if it isn't compatible with your phone and its apparently not with my eris... but it won't stop force closing so I can't get to anything there is just a blank black screen in the background and the FC thing pops up a second after I click force close.what in the world do I do?

Jan 6, 2010Anyone have a problem with prediction getting stuck in web browsers (default Browser and Dolphin)? When I try to enter a URL like "www.youtube.com" into the search/go form, the prediction will pop up and stop at "www." or sometimes "www.y" with no option for me to use the URL that I typed. So if I hit the Go button, I end up Google searching "www." since "www." isn't a valid URL.

May 12, 2010so im on my second eris root. all is well thus far, accept now i am trying to boot from recovery to put vanilladroid on it, and i cant get into recovery mode. i didnt have this problem with the last phone i did this to, and i dont know what im doing wrong at this point. i have reloaded amon's recovery image, and done all of that process over again. nothing works, when i boot power/volume up, all i get is the skateboard guys, then the exclamation point inside a triangle, with a phone laying down. "button mashing" on the end and send buttons then leads the phone to reboot back to normal mode. i even tried to reboot recovery from adb, and still got this end result. i am out of ideas (as im no programmer...)also, i have tried to get on irc, but keep getting booted, even when switching sn's.so ive given up on that as well

Aug 23, 2010I was running aloysius v12, tried flashing purehero 2.1, and got stuck on the white skateboarder boot screen. Pulled battery, tried recovering my nandroid backups, (use clockwork mod), and whenever I try recovering my backups, i get a "Error while flashing boot image!" message, and it stops.
I've tried flashing just the regular Aloysius2.0v12 file, not a backup, and i get:

Installation aborted.
The only thing I can do from here is try to flash something else, or reboot. I can't get past the recovery screen.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Someone told me to install amon ra instead of clockwork, and to flash a new rom from there, but I don't know if that'll be the right way to go about it or even how to do that. Sorry for being such a noob, and i'm sure this problem is in a thread somewhere else but i looked all over and couldn't find it.

Jan 3, 2010I noted that people have mentioned getting stuck in 1xRTT, but today is the first time that it happened to me. (I've had the Eris since 6 Nov '09, and have the Dec 11th OTA update)I live in an area with good EVDO service (4 bars / -73 dBm), so I don't think signal fade is the issue. The only thing that I can remember being out of the ordinary when it happened to me was that I was on a voice call and purposely tried to surf the web (I didn't know whether WiFi was on - it wasn't - and I didn't check first.)
Afterwards, I couldn't get it out of 1xRTT - toggling "airplane mode" or toggling the HTC Mobile Network (or WiFi) widgets didn't seem to have any effect. I sort of just "left it" for nearly a full day, and it never showed EVDO any time I checked. Even stranger is that when I finally rebooted it, it didn't solve the problem.For that (first) reboot, I had both Mobile Network and WiFi toggled on - and the phone came up in 1xRTT. I turned off the WiFi (using the HTC widget) and rebooted - and the phone came up immediately in EVDO.
For those of you that have experienced the problem, do you remember anything specific that seems to have triggered it? Was use of WiFi somehow involved?
HTC :: Headset Mode Stuck On For Droid Eris
May 1, 2010I plugged my Eris into a two way audio jack to play music through a friend's car stereo, but when I removed the jack, it went into headset mode and I have no idea how to get rid of it. I don't own a headset and as such, cannot talk to or hear anyone I call or who is calling me now. I have scoured the net for answers but the only thing I found was an outdated app that will not work on the phone. Is there anyway to get my phone off headset mode. A toggle widget that works for the newest version of the os? Anything? Anyone

Nov 19, 2010I rooted my phone using erisuser1's rooting for dummies method - this went off without a hitch, I followed the instructions to the T. I put several custom ROMs on my SD card (using the USB, and properly ejecting the phone as a drive) including KaosFroyo v37 and v38, CELBFroyo 3.6, PlainJaneT2_V2, and Vanilla_Tazz_19.I tried flashing each of them (following the wipe of the system info and the Dalvik cache) and all but the PlainJane got stuck in bootloops that lasted a long time. I waited anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, and none of the others ever loaded up. I'm fine using the PlainJane and happy to have the other features of root but am wondering if there's any advice or suggestions as to why none of the other ROMs worked for me?

Jul 19, 2010Today I plugged my phone into my car stereo to listen to pandora.When I unplugged it the headphone icon turned into a headset icon.I have no headset and now it's stuck in headset mode.I cannot hear anyone who calls me, or talk to them.I did a quick search for this problem and found some response that suggested it had to do with the hearing aid function in call setting, but when I went into call setting, the hearing aid option was turned off. I've tried powering down and restarting but that did nothing.I'm running a rooted version of 2.1, i don't remember which one but it based on the last leaked version of 2.1.

Jun 13, 2010I took a long flight and put my phone in airplane mode. I got off the plane and it bounced out fine sent some texts and a call. The phone died that evening and has been stuck in airplane since the recharge. Will not go out of airplane and continually force closes com.android.phone. I'm in an area with extended network. If it makes a difference I'm on the 2.1 rooted version. Need Help. spending the summer in alaska working at a youth camp and this is kind of a pain with limited computer access and a messed up phone. Jun 22, 2010My Eris is always getting stuck on the screen with the 3 skateboarding droid dudes. Here's the story of what happened and what i have done so far. I have an unrooted Droid Eris, OS 2.1 OTA been working quite well for the past few months now few weeks ago, my battery was suddenly drained for no apparent reason (it was idle), no programs were running in the back at all it went back to normal after i turned it off and charged it. It happened again to day and when i tried to turn it back on, i got stuck on the 3 skateboarding droids. So i tried battery pull, x123121 didn't work. i did the "hold vol+send+power", -recovery: it gives me this red triangle with exclamation point, i only found errors regarding this on rooted phones while on this screen, i pressed vol up+power, and tried all the option there and nothing worked, it still gets stuck on the skateboarding droids then i held the "vol+send+power" and tried all the other options there, and it stuck on same screen.

Sep 29, 2010Both of the stickers - the one on my phone, and the one on the battery still have red X's. I have read that this is good. I dropped my phone in a toilet (recently flushed thank god) in the Staten Island Ferry Terminal (see, nothing good comes of traveling to SI!) and grabbed it out as soon as I saw it. I had a plastic case on the back of it. Took it apart as soon as I got my wits about me. And no, I wasn't using it - It flew out of my backpack when I turned around.
It will turn on but has this odd boot up screen. I don't believe rice will get the water out of the inside, and I don't have a screw driver tiny enough. If I bring it to the Verizon store will they know it had water damage from the screen alone? It looks normal almost like the DOS blue screen of death sort. Also, the little tiny green sticker in the lower right hand corner that says VOID - is that a water damage indicator too? I don't recall ever caring what it was.

Jan 16, 2010my Eris this morning and was greeted by 5-8 force close notifications for what seems like all of my critical processes. My status bar shows that I have no reception, and my lock screen says I'm in Airplane mode, but if I hold the End button down, it says AP mode is off. If I try to go into my wireless settings, Settings will FC. If I bring up the dialer, that will FC. If I click my Wireless Network toggle widget, then Sense will FC. Everything is FUBAR. I can't think of any recently installed applications that might have caused the problem... aside from the latest OTA patch. This was the first time my phone has been powered off since installing the latest OTA.
