View 5 Replies View RelatedSeems like ROM Manager is coming alive pretty good lately. With the ability to flash other ROMs, flash different recovery images. Only thing is you need clockwork with ROM manager and I am not to keen on that. I starts with sprecovery so maybe I am just afraid of change or learning something new. Just seeing what everyone else is thinking. But ROM manager is a great tool, for people that like the greatest ROM and flash it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhat're the differences? Advantages? Clockwork has been working flawlessly for me so I don't plan to switch, but Amon Ra's recovery keeps coming up in threads I'm reading.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm a first time Android User, and just learning the ropes. So far I'm in love with Android! One thing I've been trying to play with is the Recovery Mode. At first I flashed Clockworks recovery, but actually found it to be limited, and missing features from the stock recovery, and didn't like the fact that CW's nand backups weren't backwards compatible with the stock nand backups, so I went back to stock. Since then I've been looking for another recovery mode. I noticed in someones signature that they had flashed Amon RA Recovery onto the Evo. I googled it, and was fairly impressed with the features. I looked for it in the Evo forums, but have not found any reports or posts about it being flashed to the Evo. If it's possible, what version should I use, and where can I get it? How do I go about flashing it?

View 18 Replies View RelatedYou can test to make sure everything is working by going to a command prompt, go to the tools directory of the Android SDK, and type: "adb shell". If you see a "$" (or "#" if you're already rooted) sign you're good. i can't figure that out. what is directory of the android sdk? i think i know but im now sure. i did everything on the android sdk tutorial but it seems i was just doing it on my computer and not my phone. how do i know if it went on my phone? and how do i put it on my phone if i didnt do it. am i suppose to sync it of just connect it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlright im already rooted and i flashed clockwork recovery image and I want it gone. I'm trying to go back to Amons recovery image. However when im in the command and I type in adb push recovery-ra-eris.img /sdcard I get no such file or directory error... but i have the file in the tools folder of my androidsdk... any thoughts..
cd
cd c:AndroidSDK ools
adb devices
adb shell mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
adb push recovery-ra-eris.img /sdcard
adb push flash_image /system/bin
adb shell chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-ra-eris.img
After i do the recovery-ra-eris.img i get an error
There are probably threads about this already that my lurking has missed, but I'm trying to install the flash_image and recovery-ra-eris.img. I tried using this,

but when I get to adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-ra-eris.img, I get an error saying the flash_image not installed. Is there a better and/or easier way to get the flash_image and recovery-ra-eris.img install on my eris so I can get a nandroid backup? I really want to back everything up before I attempt to throw kaosfroyo on there.
So, Im having an interesting problem. About a month ago installed the clockwork rom manager and installed the clockwork recovery to use the app. I could never get the recovery to show up so I deleted the app. I also deleted everything on my sdcard having to do with it. Since then I have used the RA recovery and have made and restored nandroid backups with know problem. Yesterday I went to make a nandroid backup and the clockwork recovery came up for the first time ever. when I went to restore a nandroid it said I didn't have any cause i never made any with clockwork and it must not look in the same folder. Im assuming there must still be a file somewhere to delete but I cant find out. And I can't restore any of my backups. Im using white widow 3.1 and haven't had this issue before with this rom.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo I have a rooted Eris (checked positively using terminal emulator) running a 2.1v3 ROM. What I'd like to do is eventually get to the 2.1 OTA ROM. Earlier I downloaded ROM Manager which, after some searching gave me some problems other people have been having. I can't flash to the ClockworkMod recovery image as it gives me a "Error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!" message. I tried reinstalling, fixing permissions etc. all with the same results. So now i'm trying to flash Amon's recovery image instead using Terminal Emulator and the command line: flash_image recovery /sdcard/file_name_here.img only to yield the message that the file could not be found or something. I'm on a mac and I saw another way on here that involves running commands from your computer to your phone using the skd. I started to do that only to run into a "permission denied" when attempting the first "adb" command line. Am I missing something? I'm trying to read and re-read as closely as I can. I'm not entirely comfortable with this whole process but I'm trying to take the time to really understand it and i'm still having difficulties.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHad an issue with Rom Manager. Just installed it on my rooted S-off with Cyanogenmod 6 dinc and it is not recognizing that I already have Clockworkmod recovery flashed. It is telling me to do it again, however I have read in a few spots that with S-on it is just fine allow Rom Manager to reflash it but with S-off this could be an issue. If I allow Rom Manager to reflash clockworkmod when I already have it on my phone will it be a problem?
View 2 Replies View Relatedphone was back to Velocity .1 as it was before I re flashed! She said she didn't do anything, didn't touch recovery or ROM manager. She said the battery had died so she connected it to the charger, and when she plugged it in it came up with the Yellow ! with the android (as if it was doing a factory reset) but only for a second, then booted her OLD ROM. She didn't hold down any keys or anything and I cannot imagine how this happened. I'm not going to touch it for a while... I think it might be haunted/cursed
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo every time I open up ROM Manager and click on anything it says "You must have CLockworkMod recovery installed before continuing! Install the recovery through ROM Manager first." Then gives an "Install" and "Cancel" button. What should I do. I have the bootstrap loader installed. Just upgraded to premium because I support the dev.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI used the Simple Root Technique completely. My phone is done. (used Simple Root 1, not OTA). Now, I'm trying to backup my phone with ROM Manager and then flash a ROM. (is this needed?) I downloaded ROM Manager and when I click "Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery" (to set it up on my phone) it gives me "An Error Occurred While Trying to Run Privileged Commands!" After I rebooted after the Flash Recovery in step 3 (which I thought installed Clockwork..or maybe not, I don't know) it gave me the option of putting data that was backed up onto my phone from the SD card....I said "Cancel" instead of allowing it. Was that a mistake?? Do I need to redo this entire process from scratch?? What am I doing wrong? If I don't need ROM Manager, then how do I enter Clockwork without it (from the 3rd step/process from Simple Root)? Am I doing an unnecessary step here by downloading ROM Manager? What exactly did Flashing Recovery in Step 3 of Simple Root do? Should I just flash a ROM over what I have? I am completely new to this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedVery simple can we use Koushik's ROM Manager / Clockwork recovery rom to restore past Nandroids created using SPRecovery .0.99.3b? Even if I boot right into the clockwork ROM and perform a restore from the ROM itself like we do with SPRecovery. Or do I have to push SPRecovery back in order to restore my archived ROM's and other dev's ROMs that use SPRecovery.. like Pete, AdamZ, Chevy, etc. I'm sure it's been answered but I also can't be the only one who's unclear.
