For the past 2 day every so often my phone selects stuff on my phone without me touching it. I have tried hard resets and also I set my phone back to factory default like it was right out the box. Still does it. Even tried to recalibrate screen.

I wonder if ne one had an major issue with their touch screen before like I had with mine. So I decided to post this little story. Let me start off with a little background info. I got my droid november 6, 5 46am central time zone. don't ask me how but the vzw dude was letting me earlier cuz I had work. I was so happy that day leaving t mobile I did love my g1 but wen I read all about the droid I felt likt I had to leave her and move on. She did do a lot for me but time tells all and it was my time go and move on.Untill two months ago (Present time I'm talking in) I realized not everyone has the bubbly keyboard. I saw friends at my unit (I'm in the army reserves) that bought the droid a couple of months after me had flat keyboards n they were bitching bout how flat it was. I agreed with them since I was woth a g1 the keyboard was a bit flat but nothing to were its such a pain, so my friend shows me his keyboard and I looked shocked played with it was like wow and I pulled my n did a side by side side comprasion and this before I saw the bubbley keyboard thread on here. So unforunately my toucscreen starting doin its own thing like it was ghost writer and spazzing out. I had no control over it this happened monday nite and I was dreading it that I will end up replacing it. But it would not let me do nothing.I couldn't go ne where on my screen it would randomly hit different icons to the point were sum times it would call my contacts. I only had control over the physical buttons. So on Tuesday during work I fought the ghost writer to let get to setting a do a system restore. First minute of the set up was ok but right wen it finish and I was on the home screen again. I was like FUDGE I don't want to replace my rare Droid. After work I replaced it, I was real pissed I had the bubbly keyboard and (something I didn't noticed untill I got my replacement) the golden plated volume side button. I miss my precious rare droid. I was soo proud to be first non employee to have the droid in houston.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI own an HTC Hero and the phone can only be awaken by pressing the menu button or the power off button. Dunno if it's like this for every Android phone. I'm looking for a way to awake the phone by touching the screen. My idea is to replace the KeyGuard with something else but instead of awaking the phone by pressing one of those buttons, I would like to do it by touching the screen. Is this even possible or the Androd framework doesn't provide this functionality at all?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor all of you having battery issues (lasting only a few hours, etc) I think I've found a fix. Yestarday my phone was dead after only being on for about 6 hours. I got home about 10 hours after it died. I left it plugged in for about 2.5 hours until it said "Charged". *Note* First it said "100%" but took about 40 minutes until it said "Charged". That was about 10 PM last night. I ran some movies on it for 3 hours with Full Brightness on. I went to bed without plugging it in. This morning I did another 2 hours of movies. It said 50%. After rebooting it said 60%. Another 42 minutes of movie watching, reboot, still says 60%. Conclusion: If you completely discharge your phone then let it charge full without touching it during the charging it seems to fix the battery.

Have since discovered that the sensation is only present when plugged in, but NOT charging - i.e. power light is green.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wifes Incredible started shifting the home screen to the right without any touching. When its centered the screen begins swiping to the right as if a finger was there. In "all programs" it starts highlighting apps as if I was touching them but I am not. I have tried G-sensor calibration, keyboard calibration, restarts and the closing of apps but cant find where the trouble lies. Is it possible the touchscreen is now defective?

For instance when i type in the word "me" but when it auto corrects the e has a downward carrot above it. and it does this for many many words. language is in english, so not sure what it could be. i use for now the htc keyboard.

Unfortunately the only option for copying is copy message and not selected text. I was able to select certain text and copy only it in the browser, but not in SMS/MMS (sometimes I need to copy an address or query). Does anyone know how to change this so I can copy only selected text (partial message)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Activity with a list that is bound to a ListAdapter reading data into a ArrayList from a database. All is well when the data is first loaded. While the Activity is open and the list is being displayed it is possible and likely that the data in the database will be updated by a service but the list does not reflect the changes because the ArrayList does not know about the changes. If the Activity is no longer in the foreground as would be the case if the user goes to the home screen and then is brought back to the foreground I would like for the Activity to not display what it did prior but rather reload the data using the ListAdapter the view is bound to. I think something needs to call finish() but I am not sure what.

anyone have this problem w/ the moment whereby your face touches the screen and causes accidentally pressed keys, things to move on screen, etc. associated w/ touching the screen? I think I remember this happening once or twice on the moment but admittedly, I don't use it much so not sure if the lock screen was on, screen was off, etc. Just looking to see if anyone if affected by this or if it's a known problem.

Requirements:
1) Touchscreen (no slider)
2) Android, preferably 2.2 or confirmed update in pipeline (or ability to root & update)
3) No Data Plan (I'm not willing to pay $30/month for something I won't often use)
4) WiFi
5) Fast processor, 800mhz or faster
6) Camera w/flash Possibilities:
1) Because I don't want data, I don't need 3g, so I could run an AT&T phone.
2) I am willing to root a phone, as long as the process is reasonably well explained in a how-to.
3) I am not looking for a new contract and am willing to pay outright for the phone.
4) If there is a phone that will work, I am willing to consider a phone not sold in the US, if I can get it on eBay or elsewhere. Remember, no data, no 3g, so that might open a few doors.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a new Hero about a month ago. Last weekend, it basically restored itself to factory settings. All my contacts are gone, all the apps I downloaded had gone, text messages, calendar, the lot. It was as if I had pushed a button and reset the phone. Now, little by little, stuff has come back. I logged back into my google account and I would assume the calendar syncs with the google calendar as all my appointments are back. The Google account also remembered which apps I had and I redownloaded them. However, the contacts and the text messages have never come back. Is this a known issue? Is my phone possibly faulty and needs to be returned? I'm so confused. I do love this phone but I am not putting up with a phone which I cannot rely upon.

My HT Desire HD touchscreen died (at least partly) last week. I can no longer use anything in a column about a centimetre wide that runs the whole right side of the screen - which includes the Enter button. So I can't actually login to the phone
I've bought a new phone (Sony Xperia Z) and got my sim copied and switched the SD card from the Desire to the Sony. However, there is still stuff on the phone. I've realised that at least some of my data was on the onboard memory and I'd like to get it back. So basically I'm looking for ways to get the data back.
I can't plug the phone in and pull data off because I need to be able to login to switch it from charge only to USB drive. Maybe there's a way to force this?
I read an interesting post on hooking a USB keyboard to android and it should "just work" (How To Connect a USB Keyboard To Your Android Phone). However, I don't have the adapter to connect it, and the Desire ran an older version of android with Sense on top, so it may "just not work".

I dried it out and left it off. After 24hrs I turned it back on and the phone needed to reset it self, this was done. My phone has totally reset now but the screen don't work. The app switcher will keep coming up, apps will randomly close (as in the home button being pressed). Swype confirms that there's a held input at the home button. Sometimes the lockscreen won't unlock (screen won't register, probably because the home button phantom press is overriding other input). I've tried this without the charger, in and out of my hand. Using stock battery, OEM charger. Also tried on official Verizon stock 2.2, cyanogenmod, fourth wave, and virtuous.
