Android :: ListView With Alternate Color And On Focus Color
Jun 17, 2010I need to set alternate color in list view rows but when i do that it removes/ disables the on focus default yellow background
I tried with backgroundColor
rowView.setBackgroundColor(SOME COLOR);
also with backgrounddrwable.

But it wont work. is there any way we can set background color and on focus color simultaneously which will work.

I've created my own adapter ("extends BaseAdapter") for my ListView and in my "public View getView(...)" I have the following code:
My problem: How do I set the color back to "Color.BLACK" after the user releases the touchscreen?
I'm looking for something that is similar to Javascripts "onMouseUp" or "onKeyUp" methods. An OnClickReleaseListener() perhaps?
Can you point me in the right direction?
Android :: Android Default Color - Primary - Text - Light Is Color Black
May 28, 2009I got a little textview defined in layout xml:

As you can see the background color is "background_light" (this results in white color) and the text color is "primary_text_light" (this results in black color).
I would have thought that primary_text_light would result in a "light" color like white, not black ;-)
When i change "primary_text_light" into "primary_text_dark" the text color becomes color white.
Is this a bug in the naming of the default colors?

Oct 17, 2010To give the user of my app an indication which field currently has the focus I am trying to change the background color of some of my fields depending on the current state, however, I am having troubles understanding Androids Color State List Resources:
There is this example at the bottom of http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/color-list-resource.html. If I try exactly the same, i.e. if I want to adapt the textColor , things do work. However, if I try an only slightly different thing, namely to adapt the background color, things do not work and I don't understand why? Why is this so inconsistent?
To make it simpler to understand what I am trying to do, I append my misc. .xml files:

If I run this as shown here, it works, i.e. I get a button whose text color changes depending on whether the button is focuses, pressed, etc.
If I uncomment the lower button, where I just flipped the attribute values for textColor and background I get an exception, stating
... <item> tag requires a 'drawable' attribute or child tag defining a drawable
What the heck am I missing here? Why is that color state list acceptable as a text color but not as a background color? How does one specify a view's background color depending on the view's state?

Oct 9, 2009I'm trying to create a color picker for Android that looks like a minimalistic version of Gimp's. So, it has a hue slider and a rectangle with saturation/value variants of a color chosen in hue slider.
Question: what is the best way to create the rectangle?
Right now, I'm creating an 200x200 array of pixels, but it takes ~5sec to create and display rectangle with that array. And I need colors in rectangle to change whenever I change the value in hue slider...
Rectangle is bitmap, Can I use color matrices on that and how?
HTC EVO 4G :: Official 2.1 Better Than 2.2?
Aug 7, 2010I spent last night playing with both my parents DroidXs and my wife's Evo all of which are still on 2.1. I can say without a doubt and everyone in the house agreed thier phones run better. Sure my phone scores better on linpack but it doesn't translate to better performance. I think any performace gains we think we have are just imagined. I was in the same boat as many of you. I thought it performed better until I ran them all side by side. Sure mine will play a couple of videos theirs won't but not many. Once you have about 3 different browsers they will play most things on 2.1. If you're on 2.1, stay there.

I can download the OTA via my phone, as I'm still on 2.1, but I'm rooted with Unrevoked3 and need the zip file to try an upgrade and I can't see to find it anywhere. Was hoping maybe someone here had a copy of the OTA zip somewhere. I don't need the 2.2 ROM, I'm just looking for the 86mb official OTA update zip file.

Apr 17, 2010I've seen a few threads from people having issues with the latest orange rom (2.73.61.66) but have yet to find anyone with the issue i'm having.
Basically, i keep getting an error message saying something like:
"this process has stopped unexpectedly"
giving the only option to force close. When it is force closed the same message pops up again. and again. and again. The only way to stop it is to either battle against the message and hope you can hit the power down button, or to pop the battery.
Sometimes it throws up other messages similar to the above one but for specific applications (ie sense, google talk..whatever..) but these never come alone, they always bring the original force close message.
Anyway, i've been onto orange and, tho i'm very pissed off, they have been good. they set me a replacement handset in less than 24 hrs (as they thought it might be a screen malfunction) which i was buzzing over until i got the same message! gutted. After talking to their tech support he suggested a hard reset followed by not adding any apps to the phone, so now i have a stock hero with stock apps and i'm waiting to see if i get a similar message...but in the mean time does anyone know of any possible conflicting applications? here is a list of the market apps i have used:

"Battery widget"
"Replica island"

"Google sky map"

HTC Hero :: Going From VillainROM To Official 2.1
Jul 6, 2010A while ago, I installed VillainROM in my HTC Hero because I wanted to try it out. Now I hear the official 2.1 has been released and since my phone is being a little buggy lately, I want to install the official one. "Off Course" I don't remember how I did it and don't know how to do the procedure.
1. Is there an official ROM for Belgium, I can download?
2. How do I do this (I know I did all the official steps while upgrading to VillainROM.

He came in today complaining that the phone is actually slower, music sounds like a tin can, and pandora skips after 1 minute or so every time. Has anyone else had these issues? Sep 20, 2010There have already been several requests for information on how to downgrade back to the official 2.2. The following process will remove root. Whether you need to return a phone or you just want to clean the slate and go back to stock, here is how to get there:
Note: Your SD card MUST be formatted to FAT32 before proceeding. The file will not be recognized otherwise. If you have yet to format, remember that formatting wipes the card. Be sure to copy/move your SD contents to a safe place (PC desktop) and replace after the formatting process. I will not go into the procedure in this thread as it is easily found with a Google search.
1.) Need to return a phone and currently have S-Off? (aka Unrevoked Forever) If so, please visit public:forever [RootWiki] where you can download the latest S-On tool and the process to load to your phone. If you want to keep S-Off and just return to the official 2.2, skip to step 2.
2.) Download the 2.2 PB31IMG.zip (extracted from the official 2.2 RUU)

Note the file size (172 MB) and the MD5 (31BB1611A0FA8197D447C0438426717E) to ensure a successful download and file integrity. If you have questions about how to verify MD5, please see post #2 of this thread.
3.) Attach phone to PC with USB debugging on and in disk drive mode.
4.) Access the SD storage and drag the PB31IMG.zip from the desktop onto the root of the SD card (any open area, do not place into a folder).
5.) Swipe down notification bar on phone and change to charge only.
6.) Unplug phone from PC and turn off phone.
7.) Hold volume down while pressing power button to enter hboot.
8.) PB31IMG.zip should be automatically recognized in hboot. Press volume up to continue with update. Do NOT interrupt.
9.) When finished, reboot to stock 2.2 and verify the following information at Menu > Settings > About Phone:
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.07.28
Software Number: 3.26.605.1
10.) Remove the PB31IMG.zip from the SD card to avoid an inadvertant reload in the future. You are now unrooted and on stock 2.2
