View 2 Replies View Relatedthere is an article in android document(Dev Guide/Publishing/Signing Your Applications/Signing Strategies)
"Application modularity - The Android system allows applications that are signed by the same certificate to run in the same process, if the applications so requests, so that the system treats them as a single application. In this way you can deploy your application in modules, and users can update each of the modules independently if needed."
in this article, what does "module" mean? is it an apk or something else? and if module is apk, how to install & update an apk by main apk without user operation?
Just got a Nexus One a couple of weeks ago and was somewhat disappointed that there wasn't an official Yahoo Messenger app (everyone I know uses it). Anyway, I just found the official Yahoo Messenger just showed up in the Market. Yahoo Search and Mail are there as well but I'm not sure if they are new or not. Yahoo! Messenger for Android

View 6 Replies View RelatedYup, its been released. Its free and you can get it on the the market. Its decent. But I would much rather prefer a port of the iphone version. The biggest letdown was no implementation of chat.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've read: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/threa...[url] But both discussions seem a little outdated. At Google IO there were free HTC Magic phones (unlocked as ADP1?). So, basing on all this, I wonder if there's something official about ADP2.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt's $400 and out of stock. There are Chinese Android 'phones on eBay for less than $100 - can I just use one of them for development? The answer is probably yes, so I guess that what I am asking is if the official HDK makes life (significantly) easier for me.

Here is the place for people who have credible information (as credible as it usually gets around here, anyway ) to post it, whether it be info about HTC's official release, or even a ROM that can safely be applied to the phone to be up and running with 2.2 + Sense.
I using the twitter official app in my galaxy s. But when i hit the reply button i does not show me the reply to all option, only replies to the author of the post. Is there a way to reply within this app to every one in the conversation?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWould anyone know if/when there will be an official AIM, Yahoo, or MSN messenger app will be released? I don't see how any of those companies totally ignore the android market. I have tried ALL messenger apps on the device and it just doesn't have a solid feel. I recently returned my Eris due to it not having those apps that I mentioned, however would def jump right back once I know its official.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI think, Android needs a game framework. Something like SDL or more, XNA from Microsoft. Of course, we can use Canvas to draw, but it is slow. We can use OpenGL, but after two days of learning I still do not know how to draw f** background. Of course, I will do that. Some day :) But state and flags-ful OGL interface is really hard to understand if you go from wonderful world of objective thinking. I just want to focus on creating art, not wondering how to create tools for that.
I'm worrying, really worring about Android and games. M$ has XNA, porting it to Zune with Tegra. After that, XNA will come to WinMo. If you ever used C# and XNA, you know, how simple and great it is. What does it mean ? Thousands of games for Microsoft Mobile Junk and still no great games for Android. Worst. Many Android developers will go to WinMo for XNA. Many games will be easily ported from Xbox Arcade too. And we will be wasting time, wondering, how to get 25fps from Canvas or OpenGL. Without sound. Now, I think, is the time to do something with that. Android really needs something like XNA, to allow us producing games without all that technic stuff like OpenGL, game loops with managing threads, times, buffers, right pixel format settings and others. What you think about official game framework for Android?

View 5 Replies View RelatedEven a "beta" SDK would be helpful. There are lots of app developers who don't necessarily know how to build cupcake from the GIT. Given that HTC Magic (based on cupcake, I heard) is rolling out real soon now, wouldn't it be nice to give the app developers a chance to test if their app is compatible with cupcake?Sure, Android API is supposed to be backwards compatible. However, there are quite a few bugs in the G1 that I had to work around with ugly hacks. Now I start to worry if those hacks would break on cupcake.

We had this little group... http://groups.google.com/group/android-challenge Android Challenge: Discuss the Android Developer Challenge, including questions on contest details. You can also seek other developers to join a team effort. A humble request to ADC2 team to officially start and moderate a new ADC2 group similar to the previous android-challenge group. ADC2 messages are scattered in android-developers and android-discuss groups. ADC2 discussions does not fit in either of these groups. There will be hundreds of queries, comments, news and PR pitches once the ADC2 judging app goes live. So please could you start a ADC2 discussion group at the earliest.

Is it possible to Retweet and add your own comment using the official Twitter app?
I have read the comments on the market and AppBrain and some people have made reference to retweeting and adding a comment to the retweet.
If this is possible, could somebody tell me how?
I want to create an application that uses small tabs, such as the one the Android's facebook official app uses. Does anyone know how these kind of tabs can be created? Do I need to extend the TabHost class in order to customize it, or is there a more general easier approach?
