View 18 RepliesI recently rooted my EVO (Tonight!) I downloaded SetCPU so the processor will run faster when its awake and slower when its not. I can't for the life of me seem to figure out how the heck to get it to overclock. I don't see the word anywhere in the app, and the slide bar only goes up to 998 mhz (my Evo's max?) Is it in the other menu settings I don't quite get?
View 6 Replies View RelatedRooted Eris users, if you're a member of XDA, you can go grab your free copy of the newest version of SetCPU, version 2.0c, over here:
SetCPU for Root Users [2.0.0c] This *actually* changes everything. 06/28/2010 - xda-developers
As has always been his policy, coolbho3000 is releasing it free of charge to all XDA members. If you're a member, log in and you'll be able to download it from the attachments. If you're not a member, you can buy the app for $1.99 on the Android Market.
You still cannot include it in a ROM or otherwise re-distribute it.
My phone is allowing me to run at 768mhz. If the phone is allowing this is it okay to run at this speed or should I scale it down to something lower? The phone has been stable and I've had no issues since doing it about a week or so ago.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm learning a bunch of new things about different ROMs, and overclock, and JIT, thanks to all the great people here. I'm curious what current ROM everyone is using - and what your SetCPU profiles are set to for Max/Min.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI'm new to rooting, but I just switched to the EVO from the iPhone which I had jailbroken so I'm familiar with the concept. A quick question regarding SetCPU. I know there is not a kernel out there yet for overclocking, but how can I tell if it's working for underclocking when my evo is sleeping? Is there a way to confirm or do I just estimate if I see improved battery performance?

View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing Droid with Droidmod 1.0. I just updated to the newest version and for some reason when i have my profiles on.It sets it to max of 384 and min of 250. The lowest max i have set in my profiles is 600 so how can it show max is 384.
I know this is something real easy.
Of course using auto-detect
set on boot checked
on-demand (main screen)
on-demand (profiles)
max on all profiles is set to 600 min 250.
I just installed the setCPU app. What is the max yours will reach? Mine will only do 710 on the sensable 3.1 rom. Is there something I'm missing?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted via the 'rooting for dummies' for two days now. I've had my eris since this spring and was happy until recently my OTA2.1 dialer lag was infuriating. Rooted, started with PlainJaneT2. SO MUCH BETTER! Now using latest xtrROM. EVEN BETTER (imo)! Tempted to try KaosFroyo but there's no browser flash yet? I'll play with xtrROM for awhile longer. do you use setcpu w/ xtrROM. I know it's OC'ed from the get-go (235-710 or something) but I heard 528-604 is the sweet spot for the eris.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI know that kaos is OC'd to 710 by default, but has anyone tried setting their main SetCPU profile to a lower frequency? Tonight I lowered mine to 245/528 to see what it'd be like, and I honestly haven't noticed much of a difference. Maybe some of my LauncherPro animations aren't as smooth, but that might just be in my head.
Haven't tested this beyond a few hours or with heavy multitasking, but I think I might run with it for a while and see what happens.
UPDATE: Getting Linpack scores around 3.5, which isn't as high as the 4.5+ I was getting before, but is just as high as or higher than the scores I've gotten on most other ROMs (including xtr).
I have recently rooted and wiped my phone, installing the KaosFroyo ROM.
I also installed setCPU but not sure where to go next with it. How do you run it?
OK - I've just rooted with Zeffies 14.3 - Loving it! Now, can I leave the phone as is or must I use SetCPU?

View 32 Replies View RelatedAnyone foresee any issues on OC'ing on the standard rooted ESE81? Does the kernel support overclocking?
View 7 Replies View RelatedRooted my Vibrant pretty much as soon as I got it, installed SETCPU and while it did make my phone MUCH more responsive it was also causing problems.
I asked for help on XDA but most gave pretty vague answers, so I eventually ended up uninstalling it....
Well, anyhow, I found this really helpful post and now I am going to give SETCPU another shot. So if anyone else out there is having issues read this:
OverClocking 101 - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum
I just rooted my new Evo and installed SetCPU, i set up some profiles for when my battery reachs like <25 and i was testing this out at like <75 and noticed that even though the notification shows up as the profile is active, in systempanel app and also even in SetCPU is still shows the cpu reaching core speed of 998 instead of the speed it should be capped at...
So my question is, is setcpu actually working?
1) Do you have to have the SetCPU app actually running for it to overclock? Or can I just kill with my task killer when I don't need it?
2) What's all this about SetCPU only working up to 950 with the Sholes ROM? I have it set at 1000 for now and it's working perfectly
Ok just installed this on my Desire and wondering if my settings seem ok.
Initial set up set to ondemand and ticked Set on Boot.
On Profiles I have set as follows;
Sleep/Standby - 576 Max, 245 Min
Power < 80% - 806 Max, 245 Min
Both of these are ondemand also.
Should this be enough to notice some significant battery savings?
Do you reckon I will run into any problems in terms of performance as time goes on? (seems ok just now)
How to save battery but not lose out on performance?
Is there a free setcpu anywhere? (no credit or debit cards to buy the version in the market
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow fast does everyone run set CPU on your phones? I've been trying to put it up to 787 with the Kernel in the Raptor download section, but I keep getting Kernel errors and it reboots. with 729 max it runs smooth, never a problem.
View 33 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a "stock" rom with basically everything the same but I want setCPU and tethering with everything else functional. Any tips?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI will be rooting tonight then putting fresh 1.1 on and then the gumbo kernel and want to use one of these two to speed up the phone. Which one should I use?
I am okay with paying 99 cents for the app so please do not count that against it. I am looking for overall performance.
I tried both overclock and setcpu for 528 max and 160 (or 245) min. Whenever I put my phone in sleep and turn it back on, it automatically goes to 245 min 245 max which is slooow. Could this be a problem with the rom? because Im using Darchlegend v4 2.1 rom. Im just gonna unistall for now
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes KaosFroyo v34 have SetCPU built in? Or is it even compatible with this kernel? If yes, where do I find it? I really want to tweak things to see if I can get this battery to last longer.
Also, any idea how to set a CA/user certificates in: Settings>Wireless & Networks>VPN Settings>Add VPN>Add OpenVPN VPN (when I select either of those, the only option I have is "Cancel")
If I am using one of the OC kernels (the ultra-low Chevy 1.2) is SetCPU necessary? If so under what circumstances?
View 5 Replies View Relatedjust as the title says, i set the max MHz at 1100 and as soon as it goes into sleep mode or i reboot it it resets at 900 I'm rooted and have p3droids standard voltage 1.1 kernel. whats up with this?
edit - yes i searched, very broad results. maybe could have found an answer after an hour of sifting through old threads.
I am using Nexbeast 1.0 and I have installed setcpu and advanced task manager. I hear that it messes up somehow but I haven't noticed any problems. In fact before I installed setcpu my phone kept on restarting due to overheating. Am i messing my phone up in a way I can't detect? Any clarification on this issue would be great.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I had the setCPU widget on my homescreen, and was noticing that when I wake my phone up, the screen comes on but it would take about 4 or 5 seconds for it to respond to any scrolling or touch input. At first I suspected it was my screen off profile being too low (480/245). But I then removed the widget and the problem seems to be solved for the most part. Can someone confirm that this is an issue or is it just a placebo? Oh, running PlainJaneT2 Stock 2.1 with OC and A2SD.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust installed setCPU and it wont go over 528max at all?? now it is stuck at 528khz any way how to fix that? the scaling slider bar is all the way to the right, still at 528.
