HTC EVO 4G :: Charge Led Inside Front Glass?
Jul 29, 2010
Have you guys noticed the two LED's located just under the amber "charging" led, under the glass?I can't make them light up, nor do I know their function. You can really see them in sunlight or with a flashlight directed on the screen.

I've been a couple of days trying to solve this thing but I can'f figure it out.The problem is, simple activity, with simple layout, ScrollView -> LinearLayout -> and a lot of buttons inside the layout (within the scroll content). Everything works just fine but one tricky thing. When I click a button let's say at the top of the scroll content and inmediatelly I scroll down to the bottom of the content and I click other button there, nothing happens until I click a second time and all come to normal again. This can be reproduced anytime and it's code independent (i've tried more than 20 scenarios). I've not much experience in android yet but looks like the scroll listener stops the onclick listener or something like that.

So I've been extremely frustrated by this for a long time now.I've posted before, but can't seem to find a good solution. My goal is to have something pretty much exactly like the installed application details page in the Android Market.I need a list of items displayed along with other content above the list, and would like the content above to scroll up along with the list (exactly like the application details does for the "My Review" and other descriptive info).Due to responses to my previous posts, I came to believe that it really wasn't possible to do this with a ListView. So rather than using a ListView, I refactored my code to use a simple LinearLayout and add individual View items to the list, thinking I could just set each View as clickable and add an OnClickListener to each View in the LinearLayout. That's not working at all though, and now I'm getting even more frustrated. If someone can help me get the OnClickListener working, then I think it'll work, but I do need a separator for the LinearLayout. How do I add a separator like the one used for ListView to my LinearLayout?

This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................

Just got the EVO last Friday. It replaces a Samsung Moment that died a horrible death.
When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.

Anyone notice this? My EVO shoots up incredibly when plugged into a wall versus my computer. There was a difference too on my Hero but it wasn't so dramatically different that I would prefer wall to computer. The EVO seems to inch up plugged into the PC, but the wall seems to give it an injection of red bull cocaine.

I have found that charging my HTC Hero from the wall with the USB adapter charges faster than charging from the USB plugged into the pc. This may sound like common sense, but there's more to it... Some iPhone users have noticed that the charge from their phone when charged from the mains lasts longer than the charge from the PC via USB. Some sites claim that phone batteries can be 'overcharged' by charging from the mains, and that USB charging doesn't do this. I havn't had my phone long enough to test the 'overcharging' theory, but I was wondering if anyone had any information about these different methods of charging.

I was reading about the scratch test (keys, screws, razor, etc.) and how they didn't scratch the screen, but how sand might. I am curious, is it sand specifically, or anything like it, such as dust or lint? Could things like that scratch glass? In other words, can the screen be scratched by slipping the phone into an otherwise empty, clean pants pocket?

Last week I contacted HTC and asked them if the Incredible's screen was indeed glass (since whatever they do, it tends to feel like plastic compared to other phones) and whether it had an oleophobic coating. I pretty much knew it was glass already, so I was more interested in the oleophobic coating question. They got back to me today and what they said was quite surprising.

Light leak around front casing, dust issues. The build quality sucks, I have dust under the glass in the upper left corner. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that HTC can't place a priority on build quality. I traded my Hero with dust for an Evo with dust. Oh the joy. It's really no surprise, if light escapes from the sides, why wouldn't dust enter through the same area.
Before you reply with 'I don't have dust,' make sure you examine very very closely, with a very bright light to be sure. I was the first on this forum to call attention to the Hero's dust issue, and was greatly flamed for it at first, too. The phone's haven't even been out a week, so this issues will not be very noticeable yet (as with the Hero) but will become accepted as fact soon enough.

Has anyone else encountered this? I have dust under the glass of the camera and it's driving me nuts. It's not just a few specs, but its a lot. Not sure if I should complain to vzw or maybe there is a fix that someone else came across.

Well I would like to try a custom rom now. I'm loving the 928 blackglass theme w/ stock rom. but the REVOlution theme looks nice. I want to go w/ a basic clean looking theme or maybe a rom. But do i have to change the rom can I run stock? I'm deodexed with 928 so do I put another theme on this one or do I need to clear data/wipe first?

I've created a custom toolbar using a gradient inside a shape. It looks very nice, but since we only have the option for 3 colors (startColor, centerColor, endColor) it looks very round. I would like to do a glass effect, which requires a sharp change in color in the middle. Basically I need 4 colors (startColor, justabovecenterColor, justbelowcenterColor, endColor). Now I could have two shapes sitting on top of each other to get this effect, but I don't want to do this. I'm getting into some tricky UI customization here and that would be very difficult to manage on different sized screens.

I got my HTC incredible on launch day and just noticed a line going down the left side of me glass screen that at first looks like a scratch. You mainly can only see it in direct light and when I try to look at the screen from the side, you can not see the line(unlike a scratch u would you could see it at all angles). I'm not too OCD about it, I just want to know if anyone else is having these random lines as well.

I just wanted to offer a little information for those who may have cracked screens.I left my EVO on my bumper a few weeks ago. I realized about an hour later I didn't have it. Someone picked it up off of the busy highway and dropped if off at my shop. It had been rolled over numerous times and the screen was completetly shattered. With the help of this site, I found instructions on changing the LCD/Glass and ebay links on where to get it. I got a great deal on ebay, $79 for the lcd/glass complete. Was brand new in the packing. Bought the tools (listed in the instructions found on this site) at the local hardware store, put the lcd/glass on, and the phone works PERFECT! I am very glad. First off I didn't have insurance, and second, this has been the first phone in a while that I have had zero issues with and really like everything about it (coming from numerous blackberries). So basically, thanks for the help, and now we know the phone can take a few cars running over it and the board, battery, back, etc. held up great. It had a best buy case (appears same as seidio innocase) and Zagg screen protector on it.I have my original phone back, no scratches, spent $79 (less than the deductible even if I had insurance), and its a done deal.

I've been Googling around trying to find some objective information on Gorilla glass with no luck. It's either Corning's promotional material on the subject raving about how you'll never break your phone again, or someone that bought a Droid, cracked it, and they are screaming about how much it sucks. What I'd like to find is some kind of reliable source that has done a study on it. I studied engineering and, from what I remember, we were taught that the harder something was the more brittle it would be. Of course, that was 15 years ago and there's a good chance I'm remembering it wrong. Does anyone know for sure? Have a source you can point me at?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone might know if the droid 2 has gorilla glass or not. I've searched everywhere and can't find any info on the droid 2's screen material. I know the X and original droid have gorilla glass and was hoping the 2 would as well especially since I just bought one. I have a screen protector on it that I'm not particularly fond of and would take it off if it has gorilla glass.
