Motorola Droid :: Ad-hoc Wireless Network Support
Sep 24, 2010I have a wi-fi adapter and I can make an ad-hoc network from my PC but can't use it as an access point via Connectify or Virtual Router. I tried getting a physical router, but had so many problems that I eventually gave up! I know there are lots of programmers out here, so can anyone put up a hack/mod for supporting ad-hoc networks on the Droid 1?

Jun 29, 2009I tried getting my new HTC Magic to work with my Tom Tom Sat Nav, the basics worked fine but then I got this message. Your phone needs to support Wireless Data Connection (Dun) Capabilities to use TomTom Plus Services. Can this be done soon? I need to use those services, would it be an update type download or a separate download? or if there is already a setting please let me know asap

May 27, 2010The main reason i wanted a rooted phone was so i could connect to my laptops ad hoc network and use a program for wireless keyboard and mouse. i cant really afford the real thing at the moment and with my laptop hooked up to my flat screen its kind of necessary to have..
So ive rooted my phone and tried a few roms. currently i have this one: [ROM] [05/18/2010] Tainted Vanilla V1.4 OVERCLOCKED - xda-developers
I always run into the same problem though. wired or wireless, i cant get it to connect right. wired never works in any way but i dont really care about that. wireless however shows some signs of working. it shows some data has been sent, not received though. and my computer will detect and connect to it, but seems to lose the signal after a few moments. when i bring up a browser it doesnt even look like something might load. it just says im offline. could someone help me with this?
The other part of this problem is i really just want to connect to my computers ad hoc network and use a wireless keyboard and mouse program. none of them seem that great unfortunately.. recommendations are appreciated. but my biggest issue is that i cant seem to connect to an ad hoc network. i believe my phone detected it only once while i was on the "white widow" rom, but could never quite connect..

May 16, 2010My Tattoo relaods seems to reload the whole system when I unlick the screen after having had it shut off.
It happens around 80% of the times I unlock the phone. When it happens, it the screen says "loading" and it takes about 10sec before I can use the phone. It doesn't seem to matter how long the screen has been turned off.When it happens, the phone also doesn'r react to incoming messages. It receives them and shows them when the system has reloaded but it doesn't give me a notification when it recieves the message.Has anyone else experienced this problem? Maybe it just has to reaload every time but it seems strange and it is very irritating.

I saw that he had saved PB00IMG and rootme zip files saved on my sd card.He initially had some difficulty getting the 3G to come back up as well,but eventually did.Later on today, as I was installing an app from Google Market, it went kaput.I tried rebooting by pressing power button and the volume button, but the problem remains.Any ideas please!By the way, my phone is unlocked from Verizon to Cricket.

I'll need to use it on the AT&T network occasionally, but don't want to get the Captivate model since AT&T locks it out from installing apps from "unknown sources" (makes it difficult to develop s/w!).Anyway, the unlocked Galaxies that I've seen for sale don't have what's required to use AT&T's 3G service (they work on T-Mobile, but are mostly for the European/Asian market). The Captivate works on AT&T 3G, but as I said I'd like to stay away from it and also don't want to hack it or unlock it myself, etc.Is there any solution for this? They don't sell an unbranded, unlocked Galaxy that has the wider range of 3G connectivity?This isn't really a show-stopper since I don't have or want a full cell phone plan and won't be using it that way except for occasional testing (I'll do most of my web access over WiFi). But if I'm spending $600 for a smartphone I'd like to get the max functionality out of it.

android.telephony.gsm.SmsMessage (deprecated for 1.6 and above)
android.telephony.SmsMessage (the new class for 1.6 and up)
I want to target 1.5 and yet have the newer class (android.telephony.SmsMessage) run on devices with 1.6 or higher. How do I do this?
I have already tired this: http://devtcg.blogspot.com/2009/12/gracefully-supporting-multiple-android.html but I couldn't get it to work (the author doesn't mention how he/she handles the different imports, the exact api level settings etc.)

What is the best update to use for unlocked, vodafone SIM HTC heroes? Also as mentioned earlier I have a vodafone SIM and my last phone was a nokia navigator, I've copied all my contacts to my SIM, should this be enough for me to get my contacts up and running when I use my hero?
