I unlocked my handste several months ago, and currently have the Modaco ROM version 2.8 running.How do I upgrade my unlocked handset to android 2.1? Can you provide an appropriate link?

My HTC hero has just arrived today and I'd like to update it straight away before using it, is there anything I need to do before doing this other than syncing the phone to my laptop? What is the best update to use for unlocked, vodafone SIM HTC heroes? Also as mentioned earlier I have a vodafone SIM and my last phone was a nokia navigator, I've copied all my contacts to my SIM, should this be enough for me to get my contacts up and running when I use my hero?

I have a 3 sim card in it that works but i can't access Planet 3 anymore. if i start the web application it will connect to vodafone & vodafone only. Is there any way i can access planet 3 again? I have heard that the newer heroes cant be unlocked because orange have made a deal with htc and changed the codes. I must have been lucky because mine unlocked no problem with the code received from the impel number. My question is if i update the Rom with the orange Rom version on the htc homepage will my phone become Sim locked again, and more worrying will i not be able to unlock it again when it has the new Rom on it?

Which Android 2.1 update will I need? Generic, Orange or the new network provider? If it is the generic one will this also have the benefit of unbranding the phone and getting rid of Orange apps? If it is the Orange upgrade will the phone become locked to their network again and require unlocking again?I need the phone to stay unlocked for the future.

I have a activated prepaid tmobile sim card that i have been trying to use to get the behld update but I've had no luck. I've tried the force update posted in this thread but it did not work for me. I've also called tmobile and samsung and all they could tell me was that updates are sent out Monday nights so ive had my phone on with more than fifty percent battery and tmobile sim in every monday night. I really need this update can anyone help?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI once had a samsung jet which was great but it was on orange and i wanted it on 3 because i recieved a better signal and wanted their push email. But when i put my three sim into my now unlocked Jet i found that i lacked 3's certificates and couldn't tether or get 3's push email.Anyway this made me decide to upgrade to a 3 hero to gain their functions however it seems their are no "certificate" needed and the hero seems to have its own push email service and can tether easily.SO my question is if i debrand my hero and thus can ugrade to 2.1 android will i still recieve free push email and be able to tether? as i guess if i change my rom it might be hard to go back.

I got the OTA for 2.2 and didn't update it because the last time I updated it caused my WiFi to fork up meaning my first two weeks of owning a desire meant waiting for it to come back from HTC repair. Adding salt to the wound, it came back locked meaning I had to fork out another tenner to unlock again. so question! does anyone have experience of updating to 2.2 on an unlocked but branded phone (on t mobile). Will it lock the phone again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a HTC Hero which I sold to a friend.Before sending him the phone I Goolged how to log my Google account out of the Hero so that my friend could log in under his account.The answer I found on a multitude of website was to perform a hard reset of the phone, back to factory setting.As such, I performed the Factory Reset but the phone was originally Unlocked.Now my friend is saying he cannot make calls with ihs Tesco mobile sim.
Would the reset cancel the unlocking and revert the phone back to locked to a network?
Ive recently bought a htc hero that was on orange but has been unlocked and I'm using it on o2. I have a great wifi signal but when i try and go onto the Internet IE goggle etc i just get a default orange message saying it needs to go onto an orange network to access the Internet. Ive set the default homepage to Google but nothing loads.

I have done a quick search on the Market and found several apps that will turn my PC on using WOL. What I want is to be able to turn my PC on using WOL whilst I'm at work. I have read that opening a port on my home router (port 9) will allow WOL traffic. Does anyone use WOL from your Hero/Android handset? If so, which app do you use?

1st fault, phone arrived but couldn't get past white boot screen - I suspect they hadn't tested it and sent me a bricked handset
2nd fault, usb connection completely failed. Tried all the steps, they told me too send it back.. suspect they sent me a reconned phone back out
3rd fault, wifi has been basically non-existant on the handset, can stand next to the access point and get poor to no signal.. tried on several APs
Wonder if they'll send me a Nexus one to appologise.Damn you HTC - and the worse thing is, the cat calls from the iSheep users in the office who take much delight in my pain! "You should have got an iPhone nah nah nah"
