My evo is great, i get ~14 hours of heavy use of the battery its quick , no grounding issue, everything is perfect. except i have a super little light leak that is about 4 mm long under my home key . i know that over time this will eventualy cause me a problem so my question is if a glass screen replacement from a sprint store will fix my light leak.

As wondering if anyone knows where I can get a glass replacement for the screen of the eris. I dropped it today and I don't ant to have to pay $90 to get it replaced. Could the guys at Verizon maybe repair it or htc?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHTC now has an in store fix for the flying screen syndrome but you can do this at home. Take a credit card or similar type of item and wedge it in between the screen and the phones frame lifting the screen bottom as much as you can without causing further lifting damage. Then remove the battery door and locate the two holes in the photo with the tooth picks. Put a couple drops of crazy glue in each hole then remove the credit cards and quickly clamp the screen down for about a half hour. Clothes pins might work as make shift clamps try therm before starting. If you can get your screen up enough to put the crazy glue tip directly under the screen you can do this also but use very little glue and dot it maybe 4 times across the area for a good even hold then clamp. I would tape off the screen and phone frame just in case some leaks out by accident doing this method. Once the screen is secure use automotive black silicone adhesive sealant I like Permatex brand found at WalMart (now this stuff can also be used to glue the screen down but will take longer to dry 12 hours put it on a tooth pick and shove it under the lifted screen bottom then clamp) You can take this black silicone and dab a small amount around the screen crack and with your finger or a q tip force it in the light leak crack then simply take a tissue and wipe off any excess silicone before it sets you will have no damage to the phone from spilling it just wipe it off. You should now just have a tiny bit shoved in the crack with all the rest wiped off. let it set and you are done!
View 8 Replies View RelatedLoving my new desire but its got one strange bug, for instance , when my gf calls me 'o2 network', the call goes strait to my voice mail, i was blaming her new phone as u do lol but when i called my phone using her handset, my phone dident ring and it went strait to my voice mail , woulent mind we were both in the same room, i did this a few times and it would connect fine but the odd time it failed to connect, checked signal and that was fine , so cant be the problem, anyone else had this problem?
View 10 Replies View RelatedOkay so a month or so ago I rooted with Unrevoked and put on the 2.2 leak that was available at the time. I doubt I'll get an OTA for the official 2.2 but I saw the update.zip was made available. Is there anyway to put this on my phone? I'm assuming I'll have to downgrade to stock RUU first and then I'll lose root and lose all my backup info. Basically I want the new 2.2 but I don't want to lose my data. Is this possible yet and if so how do you do it? There are a gazillion threads about similar issues but I haven't seen one that specifically talks about this yet, although it's probably in here somewhere.

I disconnected the battery and the phone and allowed them to sit in bags of rice for a few days to draw out the mositure. I turned the phone back on and found the camera is no longer so the water must of wicked in through there, but what is troubling me is the orange charge light comes on as well as a red indicator light on the other side.

I am curious, is it sand specifically, or anything like it, such as dust or lint? Could things like that scratch glass? In other words, can the screen be scratched by slipping the phone into an otherwise empty, clean pants pocket?

I pretty much knew it was glass already, so I was more interested in the oleophobic coating question. They got back to me today and what they said was quite surprising.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLight leak around front casing, dust issues. The build quality sucks, I have dust under the glass in the upper left corner. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that HTC can't place a priority on build quality. I traded my Hero with dust for an Evo with dust. Oh the joy. It's really no surprise, if light escapes from the sides, why wouldn't dust enter through the same area.
Before you reply with 'I don't have dust,' make sure you examine very very closely, with a very bright light to be sure. I was the first on this forum to call attention to the Hero's dust issue, and was greatly flamed for it at first, too. The phone's haven't even been out a week, so this issues will not be very noticeable yet (as with the Hero) but will become accepted as fact soon enough.
Has anyone else encountered this? I have dust under the glass of the camera and it's driving me nuts. It's not just a few specs, but its a lot. Not sure if I should complain to vzw or maybe there is a fix that someone else came across.

I want to go w/ a basic clean looking theme or maybe a rom. But do i have to change the rom can I run stock? It looks very nice, but since we only have the option for 3 colors (startColor, centerColor, endColor) it looks very round. I would like to do a glass effect, which requires a sharp change in color in the middle. Basically I need 4 colors (startColor, justabovecenterColor, justbelowcenterColor, endColor). Now I could have two shapes sitting on top of each other to get this effect, but I don't want to do this. I'm getting into some tricky UI customization here and that would be very difficult to manage on different sized screens.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC incredible on launch day and just noticed a line going down the left side of me glass screen that at first looks like a scratch. You mainly can only see it in direct light and when I try to look at the screen from the side, you can not see the line(unlike a scratch u would you could see it at all angles). I'm not too OCD about it, I just want to know if anyone else is having these random lines as well.
