Sprint HTC Hero :: Touch Screen Sound? Any Way Of Changing Volume?
Jun 6, 2010First post here. I've tried searching for this issue but have come up with nothing, so if it's been posted, please point me in the right direction.I've had my Hero since January (Sprint) and this only came up in the last couple of days. About a week ago (05/28/10) my Hero froze and Sprint issued me a new phone which they updated to 2.1. On Thursday (06/03/10) I noticed the sound when I use my touch screen is much louder than it used to be. I'm almost positive the new phone wasn't quite this loud when I first got it. The sound I'm talking about is not the 'tone' sound as I've disabled that, but the 'ticking' sound when you launch an app or shortcut. Does this make sense? Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Is there a way to make this sound quieter? I'd rather not disable it completely as I like a little bit of feedback that a button has been hit.

May 24, 2010Every time I answer or make a call, the in-call volume is automatically set to the highest level. I'll manually bump it down two or three notches and it sounds fine, but then it goes right back to maximum volume for the next call. I've been through the menus, and I can't seem to find anywhere to adjust the default in-call volume. Does anyone know how to make that change?

Dec 12, 2009Is there any way to stop the volume rocker from changing the ringer volume when at the home screen etc. It's really annoying! It's so easy to press by accident, and I never want to change the ringer volume anyway! (I only ever want it to ring at a particular volume, or not ring at all...in which case I just put it in vibrate mode)

Apr 21, 2010Just wanted to make sure if this is a common issue or something wrong with my handset (so that I can try getting it replaced).
When I hear calls using phone's default speaker, the sound comes okay till one volume level. If I move up, the sound distorts.
If I use speaker-phone, things are worse. After a certain level, sound crackles a lot.
For music via phone's loud speaker, the sound doesn't crackle. But as identified by many, I can hear music with no bass & lots of treble.
Is this normal for Desire?
Comparing it with my wife's N95 (which has stereo speakers) was a nightmare for me.

Jun 24, 2010I currently use Timeriffic, which has been great at managing settings for different times of the day. What I am looking for, however, is an application similar to that where I can define the sound behavior for one specific application.
What I am trying to do is make it so all notifications are at 10% volume during the night, but Id like to make notifications from Google Talk louder, like at 50%. I haven't been able to find anything that would allow a rule like that, but thought Id ask since you guys seem to know everything!

No ringers, no audio in videos, no touch tones, nothing. All the ringers are turned up, it's NOT on silent mode.
I can however talk on the phone, the ear piece works. Mic works too.

May 26, 2010I've been using my google I/O Evo for a few days now, and i've noticed that i'm having quite a bit of trouble hearing people talk during a call. My hearing is pretty average(I think?) and I'm holding the earpiece directly toward my ear. I've tried pressing the volume rocker to the max for high volume output, but callers sound extremely faint. I've never really had this issue with my past flip phones. Am I missing a volume control somewhere, or do you think i have a defective unit?

Oct 8, 2010I've been having a problem with my media volume setting which is causing it to stay silenced. I usually have my phone set to vibrate but I'm unable to change the media volume in any way. Ringer and notification volumes don't give me any problems. Jun 17, 2010I love my Evo 4g but I have to say it lacks in sound quality. Phone calls get distorted if the volume is set too high. It sounds bad like the speaker is blown, I wonder if this is an actual defect or if it can be fixed with a software update. I also use Pandora and mp3 player and when I use my 3.5 mm to cassette adapter in my car the low/mid range frequencies are hollow sounding. I use many other devices in my car (ipod,laptop,Samsung mp3 etc.) And none sound like this. I've also plugged directly into home surround system and bose inner ear head phones and noticed this. I hope they can fix this with a OTA update .....
