HTC EVO 4G :: Think Froyo Bricking My Batterys

Aug 4, 2010

like many people I did the update last night. Everything was working great except phone was eating my batterys every 4 hours or less. I have 5 batterys. So tonight I put in my battery that came with the phone and went to market and my phone shuts off. It was on the charger and the lght that goes from red to green started blinking red and then just stopped. It will not cut on or anything. So I switch batterys and it works till it does it to the second battery. same exact thing. So i switch batterys again. I switched batterys then did a factory reset. The phone is not cutting off on me now but the batterys that it did cut off for are not working still. Should I take it to sprint? anyone else having the same problem?

HTC Droid Eris :: Bricking My Phone

Apr 23, 2010

After the two 2.1 updates on my eris, my signal/service has been horrendous. I'm not able to make calls/send texts in I'd say 40-50% of the time, and I've tried everything people have been saying to do to fix the signal strength problem. So, is bricking my phone a solution to get a refurbished or new phone? I'd rather just stick with 1.5 than have horrible signals all the time, or root it (bc it's undoable). Any input?

Motorola Droid :: Now You Can Live Without Fear Of Bricking

Feb 21, 2010

*I just want everyone to know that I didn't write this guide, just the first paragraph. You can thank ikithme for the guide and the links to all the files.*Now that a .sbf file has been released for our Droid's we can always recover them using RSD Lite. AllDroid - View topic - Droid 2.0.1 sbf file released! it is pretty easy to use this. Of course if you physically break your phone it won't help, but if you screw anything up software wise you are covered. If you unplug your phone while doing this it will break it beyond repair, Verizon will not be able to fix it. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO USE IT!
EDIT: Here is a guide.
EDIT:New RSD Lite link (4.6)
Requirements
A. VZW_A855_ESD56_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.01P_SW_UPDATE_03. sbf (.sbf file)
B. http://androidoverdrive.com/downloads/RSDLite4.6.7z (RSDLite 4.6)
C. http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/Co ... _4.2.0.zip (32-bit Motorola USB Drivers)
or http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/Co ... _4.2.0.zip (64-bit Motorola USB Drivers)
Instructions:
1. Download all of the files above including the 32-bit OR 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers.
2. Install RSDLite AND the 32-bit or 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers (Depends on your system most will need 32-bit some will need 64-bit)
3. Connect your phone to USB and turn it off then turn it back on, while your phone is booting hold up on the DPAD. (Some users have said it is easier to hold the volume down button and camera button instead.)
4. Run RSD Lite 4.6 as Administrator (For all you Vista and 7 folks out there. If you are using XP you may not need to run as Administrator)
5. Click the next to the filename box and browse to where you saved the .sbf file and double click the .sbf file.
6. Hit start and below it should give you completion progress and all of that.
7. Once your phone is done being flashed (It may take a while so don't unplug it) it will reboot and you will be back at stock 2.0.1 no root.
8. Done
Credits:dordodim for the sbf file. ikithme for guide.Motorola for the awesome phone, usb drivers and RSDLite.

Motorola Droid X :: Androot And Koush's Backup - Bricking Phone

Sep 21, 2010

I've been on the fence forever with rooting my x. Been lurking your forum for awhile now among others. reading up. Just scared i'll mess my phone up and have to buy another. I'm sure you deal with people like me daily. Anyways, I'm going to wait for the official 2.2 to come out, then worry about rooting. My question is, If I would use androot and koush's backup, and only used trustworthy roms that people post on forums like this, with positive feedback. do i really have to worry about bricking my phone?

Samsung Captivate :: Captivate Update Bricking Phones

Sep 23, 2010

If your download fully cancels in the middle, do not resume the download. When you try to resume - the phone will think you want to resume installation [it thinks the download is complete] and will update the phone with the partial firmware download. For those phones that were bricked, that is what was said happened to them - myself included. Now, why would the update not realize the firmware isn't complete and just abort the update is beyond me. Many of us ended up with paperweights from that. Had to go to AT&T to replace the phone last night.

Motorola Droid :: Bricking Your Droid Using Root Access

Dec 17, 2009

I've been thinking about rooting my Droid for a little while, but I would like some clarification on the risks before I begin. I know almost nothing about Linux (but I am a tinkerer), but there seem to be very straightforward instructions on how to do everything I'm interested in. When people say that you could "brick" your phone by deleting/moving/renaming the wrong file, I want to make sure I understand the usage of "brick". My definition of bricking a device was that it was literally only good as a brick. It is BROKEN. For good. Kaput. Like a brick. However, Blackberry users (when I was tinkering with my Blackberry Storm) use the word "brick" to describe a phone that just needs its operating system reloaded. I have no problem reloading the Android ROM if I had to (provided a dump of the Droid ROM exists) but will I have the option?Does "brick" around here mean the phone is 100% broken, or that it needs the Android ROM reloaded?

Samsung Galaxy S :: Froyo 2.2 (I9000XXJPM - FROYO.XWJP6) Vs Official

Nov 4, 2010

My unbranded SGS is currently running 2.2 (I9000XXJPM, FROYO.XWJP6) which I updated via the registery hack last month. It's running smooth and I've not had any problems My question is, what is the difference between my existing version and the 'offical' Froyo 2.2 that will be released soon? Would I be able to update my firmware to the newer version since I'm already on 2.2 (I9000XXJPM, FROYO.XWJP6)?

HTC EVO 4G :: Still No Froyo Update

Aug 11, 2010

I am not sure if this has already been answered, but can't find it. So, I am starting a new thread. Please close this if there is similar thread exists.I have not received a froyo update on my EVO 4G. Once I waited long enough, here is what I have tried so far to get the update.

- NO update via OTA so far.

- Reset the phone to a factory setting, no luck.

- Manually tried going to setting --> System Update --> HTC software update --> check Now and have been getting "Your phone is up to date" for over a week now.

- Tried to install it myself by downloading the zip file. Followed all recommended steps. Tried this at least 3 different times, using different zip files I downloaded from different locations. I kept on getting "signature verification failed"

- Called sprint, transferred to several tech support people, who knew nothing about android 2.2 (froyo)

- Went to sprint store, and was told to give it another week or so before they consider this as an issue.

The only option I have left is to accidentally throw the phone under a Bus and get a brand new one since I got full insurance from Radio shack.

HTC EVO 4G :: Use Keyboard On Froyo's?

Aug 12, 2010

I just d/l the froyo keyboard for the Evo4g. I absolutely love it. I find it much better than the stock. I also have swype which I love as well, but.. I have to be in the mood for it, heh, if that even makes sense. I'm not sure if it's because of the evo's screen real estate, but it seems so smooth and accurate. Either way, I love it. Anybody else using it? I'm sure rooted users already have it, but for those who are NOT rooted, it's a nice feature. I found it, by going to a website for the evo, which im sure you all have been on before. It's Good and EVO | Raising hell with the HTC EVO 4G for those who have not. Keyboard made available from xda-developers. Here's the page for the froyo keyboard for those who are interested in trying it out. Stock Froyo keyboard available for HTC EVO 4G

HTC EVO 4G :: Froyo 2.2 And OTA Update

Jun 1, 2010

Does the Evo come with 2.2 installed already? I was thinking that if the Evo comes with 2.1 and 2.2 is an OTA update maybe us fellow DInc users will get it the same day as the Evo, maybe on June 5th the release day for the Evo. HTC and Google have listed the Evo and DInc many times together as the first phones to get it. The only problem we may have is the difference in carriers. I really hope its sooner than later for this update. I wanna watch World Cup off my Slingbox on my DINC.
