View 5 RepliesHas anyone heard anything from htc or verizon about the lag some of us have after the update? My phone is generally just slower and seems to stutter a lot more.text msgs is a joke with how laggy it is to read and type them.I was messing around with a friends nexus1 and it was way faster than my incredible This is all after a factory reset etc.I am hesitant to do a reset again since I will lose everything once more.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am not sure if this has already been answered, but can't find it. So, I am starting a new thread. Please close this if there is similar thread exists.I have not received a froyo update on my EVO 4G. Once I waited long enough, here is what I have tried so far to get the update.
- NO update via OTA so far.
- Reset the phone to a factory setting, no luck.
- Manually tried going to setting --> System Update --> HTC software update --> check Now and have been getting "Your phone is up to date" for over a week now.
- Tried to install it myself by downloading the zip file. Followed all recommended steps. Tried this at least 3 different times, using different zip files I downloaded from different locations. I kept on getting "signature verification failed"
- Called sprint, transferred to several tech support people, who knew nothing about android 2.2 (froyo)
- Went to sprint store, and was told to give it another week or so before they consider this as an issue.
The only option I have left is to accidentally throw the phone under a Bus and get a brand new one since I got full insurance from Radio shack.
Does the Evo come with 2.2 installed already? I was thinking that if the Evo comes with 2.1 and 2.2 is an OTA update maybe us fellow DInc users will get it the same day as the Evo, maybe on June 5th the release day for the Evo. HTC and Google have listed the Evo and DInc many times together as the first phones to get it. The only problem we may have is the difference in carriers. I really hope its sooner than later for this update. I wanna watch World Cup off my Slingbox on my DINC.
View 7 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to install the OTA Froyo update, I get what appears to be an error on the screen. It's a triangle with an ! in the middle and a little android next to it. The installation never goes past 25% of the bar before I get this message. I tried hard resetting (clearing storage) and I still get this error. Anyone know if this is normal or what I'm possibly doing wrong?

View 2 Replies View RelatedReading many of the comments of people upgrading to froyo, i am at this stage rather put off upgrading to froyo. One thing that concerns me the most is, that some users are experiencing problems with the stock browser being laggy.I have a sim free Desire from the CPW.So am i right to hold back and wait for more feedback, as it seems since the update there has been more negativity to froyo than i expected. Or should i take the plunge and update to Froyo now?
View 21 Replies View RelatedWith this RUU package you can flash your phone to the current official OTA update i.e. the latest software, radio and bootloader. If you have a branded phone, this will debrand it.This method doesn't require you to root your phone and it doesn't install any unofficial or modified software. If your phone is currently rooted it will remove it.If you install an official branded update to Froyo, e.g. Vodafone's, you will not be able to install this.An alternative installation method that does not need any drivers (or even a computer) is available.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've read that there is a leaked version of the O2 Froyo update, but after searching I haven't been able to find it.. Doesn't help that O2 is only 2 characters and the forums don't search for that. Does anybody have any info? I saw the RUU one, but I don't want to wipe my phone. I'm probably better waiting for the official OTA update, to be fair. It's on the 8th or something isn't it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedGot my phone for a while already and never had a problem with my internet connection (3g signal), every where I go around my area I had full bars and full internet. Now that I did the update to froyo 2.2 and my flash wasn't working right, I had to do a factory reset and everything work perfectly and I had the internet running normal, but after later than day I start loosing signal on locations were I usually have full signal, turn of my phone and took out the battery and wait and waited and been doing this for a while. So connections comes on and off, when its on its about 5 to 20 seconds before my internet connections goes down after. Is the task killer messing up my connection even though, I always had a task killer before the update and never lost signal or connection?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a newbie to the android world and had a question about when HTC releases the Froyo update.I rooted my Evo and installed a ROM and am grateful for all the tutorials available on this and other sites. So, I was wondering, when a version of Froyo is released for the EVO with everything working (camera, etc), will it be able to be installed as ROM or will we have to install everything from scratch and root again.I undersand that HTC will not release a ROM, but I was wondering if once they do release it, can one person put on a phone, root it, optimize it, and then distribute it as a ROM or do we all have to start from scratch again?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought an unbranded (fairly certain it's unbranded) desire from mobicity.com.au. I'm using it on the Optus Australia network, and its currently on the wifi at my place. Looking to update to froyo, but checking through phone settings>about>updates says there's no update available. Do I need to wait for an Australian update to 2.2, or can i do it manually? Not looking to root at this stage though.

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust heard that a memo went out to Sprint tech staff stating that the EVO 4G Froyo 2.2 Update is suspended indefinitely. Sounds like there may be some glitches that can't be fixed quickly. [FALSE. HTC has made 2.2 Avail NOW! 8-2-2010].

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got my Froyo update today. After reviewing the changes vs various web articles and videos online about the changes, I am apparently missing some things. Examples: I didn't get Adobe Flash Player 10.1 and I can't find it in the market to D/L. My Camera does not have the new features.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWant to upgrade manually yourself? Download the Android 2.2 firmware for the Evo to your PC. Place the file in the top level directory of your SD Card. (Do not unzip this file) Rename the downloaded file. (If your Windows is configured to show extensions, then rename it "update.zip" if you do not have extensions visible then rename it "update" NOTE: If downloading the file from the above link, it's already been renamed for you) If you don't have it already, download ASTRO File Manager from the Android Market. Connect your EVO to your PC and set the connection type to "Disk Drive" Copy over the downloaded file to the root of your EVO directory structure. Power down your Evo Reboot into Recovery Mode by Holding down the Volume Down button as you power the phone back on. The Boot Loader will appear, A screen should appear showing your phones system searching for various files. Scroll down to recovery and press the Power button. (The Volume Up/Down buttons navigate the menu, and the Power Button selects the selection.) When you see the triangle with an exclamation point symbol, press the Power and Volume Up buttons at the same time. (and wait for 10-15 seconds), The recovery should eventually come up. Select Bootloader Scroll down to Recovery and select it The phone will reboot again, this time into Recovery. From the menu that appears, select Apply sdcard:update.zip. or "install from zip" (depending on your recovery image) When the screen displays Install from sdcard complete select reboot system now and wait for the phone to power back up.
Wait a while.. the phone will reboot repeatedly and finally install the update with the new apps. (The installation can take up to 15-20 minutes)

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else experiencing a problem with email push since the update to Froyo? I have to manually check my emails not because not one of my email accounts is pushing anymore. I have checked in account and sync to verify that the sync is turned on. For some reason, I'm not getting my emails. This worked before and is longer functional. Anyone else having this issue? What should I do?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI know a lot of people have been having this problem AFTER updating to Froyo, but I haven't done the update yet and my Gmail just quit pushing about 2 days ago. I've had my Evo a little over a month and this is the first time this has been a problem. It's not even that it's just delayed, it will not push AT ALL without a manual refresh. Sometimes even the manual refresh doesn't bring up all of the most recent stuff.
I've tried hard and soft resets.
Deleted account and reinstated account.
I only have one Google account.
Google Calendar works.
GTalk is logged in and working.
Again, I know this has been a post-Froyo problem for many and Google is addressing it (according to another thread on here), but what about for those of us still on Eclair?
Prior to the Froyo update, if I had anything above 10% WiFi reception, I could watch videos over WiFi. It would be more or less uninterrupted.
Since the Froyo update, I virtually cannot watch streaming video over WiFi. When I do, it plays, but it halts every few seconds and may halt for long periods. Fortunately, 3G seems less flaky since the update.
But WiFi on Froyo on my device has gone from good to essentially unusable, at least for streaming video.
My only complaints about WiFi prior to the update were lack of support 802.11n (which I've been trying to verify may have been fixed in the last 2.1 update) and the fact that my laptop could use WiFi farther away from the router in my house than my EVO could.
I read that we will be getting wireless n option soon which might also mean a froyo update as well. this is the new manual from the fcc, check the specs page at the end:

I have a virgin branded phone., It works with my 02 sim,so i guess it is unlocked? A few weeks a go I was prompted to install 2.2, unfortunatly it didn't work properly and my phone was bricked. I have just got my phone back from HTC after 3 long weeks and am amazed to find they havn't put the update on the phone. I have now used the option to see if there is an update for the phone and it says there isn't.Does anyone know if a Virgin branded phone with an 02 sim in it can get the update.
