I am pretty big on privacy and have my FB privacy settings customized to my likes. When I first activated the Evo, I was able to connect using HTC Sense into my FB account. I reset the phone back to "Factory Settings" this morning, and since then, I'm unable to connect and am getting the same warning message:

Since FB refuses to sync with my contacts, I deleted my FB for HTC Sense account and tried to create a new one. All afternoon yesterday and now this morning I got the message: "Service Unavailable at this time."

The error message from the Facebook for Android app was something like: There was a problem during login. Try again later.
Tried:
logging in via wifi, 3G, 4G - all signals here are strong clearing cache from both apps and also shutting them down between switching some of options to make sure of fresh attempts.
My wife has an Evo too (actually it's her account). Tried it on both our phones with same result
updated PRL, took the ota update - still no successful login before or after changed password on facebook account
Then Success for one of the Apps:
I got success for one of the apps by going into the Android Market place and downloading the most current version of Facebook for Android. After that I was able to login using that particular app.
However, of course, my wife wants to try the Friend Stream and HTC Sense stuff. And that is still giving the "The service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again" error. We added another email login to her facebook account because her original email had some dashes in it so I thought perhaps it was choking on the special character. Her other email is more straightforward. Still no luck with the HTC app though.
Also, We know of someone else who just got an Evo and he says he's been streaming using the HTC Sense widget/App just fine. He's in the city and we're in the burbs though.
Any ideas as to what this might be? From looking it up on the net, when most people who got that message from the HTC app, it ended up with it just somehow magically working at some point later? Anyone know how that app works in terms of what it's referring to when it says "service is unavailable"? Is that referring to a service on the phone or perhaps some service on facebook's/HTC's/or Sprint's end?
Odd that I was able to get the Facebook for Android app going by just updating the software. That made me think that maybe the newer app tweaked something that the HTC App isn't tweaked for. I don't think there's any updates for the HTC widgets though, right? Aren't they built into the OS? Since it's working for other people, then I wonder if it might be a setting in her facebook account.
I logged out of Facbook this orning via my contact card in "people" app - I have since tried to log back in about twenty times using both mobile internet and wifi bot keep getting the following maessage

Is this some kind of fault or is the service really unavailable at the moment?
rooted my desire this morning and Facebook for htc desire came up with this message downloaded a diff rom same message so downloaded the o2 rom again and reinstalled that still same god damn message. created a new facebook account still GOD DAMN SAME MESSAGE!

I refuse to give up my verizon coverage.. and bought a Droid.. aand Im ALMOST hopeless with some of this stuff. The first week everything worked great, then as I started adding apps, things have gotten hinky.
Problem 1:
I set up a "lock pattern" and my screen's timeout time is 30sec. Whenever I'd make a call even after I'd unlock it.. or I've answered the phone and unlocked it.. literally 2-3 secs later.. the phone would blackout and lock again.. WTF? soo.. i disabled the lock option.. problem solved.. but now I don't want to re-lock it if it's going to bug up again.
Problem 2:
I seem to have an unremovable facebook app... can't delete it from settings, and I can't delete it with an un-install app it doesn't even show up to look at in app management in settings.. uhh Help.. because
I USED to be able to go to a friends photos, and choose the "set as" option as a contact photo or a wallpaper.. it started to only do it once in a while .. and now I can't do it at all.. I REALLY want that ability back.
Problem 3:
half the time I go into my task killer, and apps I've never even touched to activate are randomly running in the background.. and when i go to look at my SD card space availability and its says unavailable..
So I used my phone as a storage-device connecting it to my computer via USB earlier today, and just now I notice that I can't browse my photos or music. It says:
"Your content is unavailable because your phone is being used as USB storage. Disconnect USB to access your content."
Before unplugging the phone earlier, I rightclicked the little icon at the bottom-right of my computer screen and chose "disconnect storage device", after which I received notification that it was then safe to remove the device. Is there something more I should be doing, a similar setting in the phone? Or did it just bug and I need a reboot?
Like everyone who's updated to 2.1, I'm experiencin the same bugs with Facebook (i.e. all my FB contacts show up in my dialer and my txt msgs). Anyways, I was toolin around in Accounts & Sync under Settings. Right now, the accounts I have set up are Google, Weather, and Facebook for HTC Sense. When I click Add an Account, there's something called just "Facebook," in addition to the "Facebook for HTC Sense."I've always known there were two Facebook apps (or whatever you wanna call them) on my phone, cause when I want to share a pic I take, I can do it using either "Facebook" or "Facebook for HTC Sense." I always share the picture using "Facebook" because it allows me to post a comment as well.Anyways, getting back to Accounts & Sync, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how these two apps differ. Maybe if I choose to sync the "Facebook" account as opposed to "Facebook for HTC Sense," that could solve some of these issues we're all having? I have no idea, but I'm hesitant to do anything for fear of clogging up my phone's contact list with Facebook friends.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Desire's Facebook directory lists 205 friends for my Facebook, while in reality I have 207 (and Facebook for Android app of course shows them all, too)I'm not quite sure why or how 2 of them have gone missing, but I think one went when I messed a bit up, merged 2 contacts on my phone and started removing information from that contact, so it in the end had only 1 number and 1 facebook friend linked to it. Well, I seem to either A) have a problem or B) it's a problem just in general.I have Facebook installed, and there's obviously Facebook for HTC Sense. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook).To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever. Every app I have found to sync facebook profiles only does the pictures.Is there an app that will sync birthdays to the calendar and pictures to my contacts, and allow me to choose which syncs where? Last week I cleared the data on Facebook for HTC Sense, Facebook app and Instagram app on my Wildfire S. After that I couldn't get Instagram to connect to Facebook and thought I'd done something wrong.. Last night I got a new phone (2nd hand - Incredible S) and I still can't get Instagram to connect with Facebook. I keep getting "authorize htc sense for facebook" in a triangle at the top when I try and it seems to go part the way (logging in, choosing to allow Instagram to share things on my behalf) then it goes to a "page cannot be displayed" type page and won't go any further.
I'm signed into HTC Sense (same email) and tried to sync Facebook but the only part that won't sync is "sync live feed" which I'm guessing is linked in with why Instagram isn't connecting.
I've searched the forum and I'm unable to find this information.How can I disable all the birthdays from my facebook being integrated on my Calendar screen?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried sync-ing my contact book for my facebook contact updates but it showed no updates even after a few days, but my contacts do have updates on actual Facebook.So I thought I'd try to delete off my account from Accounts&Sync and re-add my account again after a few minutes.After re-adding the account, my friend stream works fine, sync-ed as per normal but when I click on my contacts book/people and tried to link my contacts to their facebook, it showed a blank list and words in the middle showing "No matches found", in other words, I don't have friends?I waited for a hours and tried to re-add and sync again but still can't link my contacts to their facebook because it doesn't show up any facebook link for me to link to my contacts no matter how I try.I resetted my phone back to factory defaults and tried again but it's still the same.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect my Hero (2.1) to Facebook, I can log in to the Facebook app (latest version) with no problems, but when I try and log into Facebook for HTC Sense (in settings->accounts) I get an error telling me that the service is currently unavailable. Several people posting online have fixed this issue by changing Facebook privacy settings; but as far as I can see my settings permit the application. I have removed FB for HTC Sense from the Facebook Applications page and when I attempt to login it reappears there with permissions allowed but the phone repeats the unavailable message. I have tried logging out of the Facebook app first but this makes no difference. I have just rooted my phone and installed VillainROM 12, but I don't think this issue directly relates to the rooting. View 18 Replies View RelatedI have Facebook for HTC Sense setup in my "Accounts & Sync" section. When I hit the SYNC NOW button there, it seems to sync ok.
However, when I open the PEOPLE program, and select the ONLINE DIRECTORIES and then select FACEBOOK (I assume this is the HTC Sense facebook integration), it says connection error.
Is there some setting I'm missing somewhere?
I have the EVO and I recently added a new Facebook contact. When I go into people>online directories>facebook he shows up in my friends list (which is great that it synched up). When I select the contact, his details pop up fine (again great). However, when I select the refresh icon at the bottom (which is supposed to pull up his wall) I get the error message "The application Facebook for HTC Sense (process com.htc.socialnetwork.facebook) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." The only option I have is to select "force close" in the error window. This seems to be the only contact this is happening with, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I have tried logging out and back into Facebook for HTC Sense, but that has not solved the issue.

Apparently there's an issue with the way facebook sync's right now? I've been having the issue on the Captivate, but I guess it's not just us.
ALright, so I just went from the original samsung galaxy to the htc desire and one of the first things I tried was to sync contacts with facebook. I only want existing contacts to be synced so I chose not to use the facebook for htc sense app as it will sync all facebook users and add them to my contact list (correct me if I'm wrong). So I tried to sync with facebook for android but nothing happens when I chose the account. I get prompted to sign into the app, which I do, I get into the app like normal, but no contacts are synced. Returning to the accounts settings page I cant even select the facebook. It is there to add but when I hit it nothing happens. I did sync with the official twitter app with no problem which I noticed with the samsung galaxy (running froyo) should be the same procedure. Kinda strange issue if you ask me... anyone else encountering this problem?
