after the 2.2 update it seems that i have to touch the screen twice to register my touch. it only does it on web pages, and not on my 7 home pages.is anyone else having this issue? if so, how do i correct this?

The most irritating feature of touch based systems I think is when you are scrolling and you touch a link and it goes there when you only wanted to continue scrolling is there a way to make it require two taps to open a link.

I'm making an Javascript web app and I can't for the life of me get the touchstart event to fire. I get the touchmove and touchend events no problem. This is a problem because as I see it the best way to distinguish between a tap and a scrolling motion is to zero a counter on the touchstart event, update it at touchmove and then compare it at touchend. I'm doing this so I can do some action at the end of tap but not a scroll. For instance, it would be very confusing if a page opened for an item in a listed after you finished scrolling down that list, but it would be nice to be able to tap on an item to open its page.
This is what I have..
I never see the touchstart alert. If I scroll the touchend will fire and app__touchMoving will have some sort of decent value. On a side note, I've noticed that sometimes the touchend will seem to fire multiple times.
Am I missing something basic here? Plenty of people say that this should work just fine on Android (and iPhone) yet the first listener never seems to fire.
Update: I should mention that I've been testing on a Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.1.

With the old 1.6 software on my X10, the lack of an automatic screen lock when in an active call was mildly annoying, as not all areas of the screen were active. However, with the new 2.1, just about anywhere on the screen becomes active (especially when juggling two simultaneous calls). What are the chances that we'll see a 'lock screen' function for phone calls? Those of us who actually use the phone for phone calls whilst holding it would surely appreciate it. Other android devices have had this for years.

Also the HTC weather widget stopped updating on its own. I can manually update it but it stays at one location, not the one I am at. Used to work fine. Seems like "my location" doesn't update for it. I ahve tried to reboot, reload widget, reset my location settings - no change. My stock web browser also resets at some sites (this one especially). Never had this issue before.Tried to update my profile and the screen just goes black. Stays that way until I hit the back button.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently was sent an OTA update and did it. Well , it wiped all my work Exchange settings out. I reconfigured and now I am forced to log in with a password AFTER I swipe the screen lock at the bottom.
This was occurring before the 2.2 update in Sept. and I used the No Lock App. Well now, the No Lock app doesn't even work. I work for a small company and they couldn't find the "Mobile" settings in Exchange that I have read about in other posts. Anyone know why this is happening and if there is a fix? I have other Android users at my office and they do not have to unlock with a password.

After buying a HTC Desire in August, I've been very happy with it. The best phone I have ever owned. And after rooting it and installing LeeDroid's 1.9a ROM, I've been enjoying the tweaks and a2sd+. Anyway, I have a Telus Desire which I unlocked and am using with Fido. I followed this guide to root and this to install the LeeDroid ROM.
Ever since then, however, I have not been flash any new ROMs. When I flash a new ROM using ROM Manager, it goes to the white screen with the HTC in green then the screen/phone just shuts off becoming unresponsive until I take the battery out then in again. When I open ROM Manager, it gives me a pop-up that says "Recovery Failure" with three lines which say:
- Recovery mode is "broken".
- ROM Manager doesn't reboot.
- Other.
I tried to reload the clockwork recovery using ROM Manager and Unrevoked. Didn't seem to fix the issue. There is an official OTA update that I couldn't install due to the same issue. If you have any input as to how I should fix this issue
Last week I received the 2.1 update on the HTC Hero. I love it, BUT, i can no longer force lock my screen. Previously I could press the 'power/end call' button once to lock my phone. I can't do this any more. Is anyone else experiencing this? My only option currently, is to let my screen time out (set to 15 secs) and then my phone locks itself, but I cannot force this manually. It's rather frustrating - a lot goes on in my pockets in 15 seconds!

I cannot redo the update because it loses connection with it after the 2nd powercycle in the update. Is there a way to fix this?

Following from here I cannot get past the boot screen, it switches on, but stays blank and does not do anything else. I have tried to re-install / repair through SE US (PC Companion does not work in this case) to flash it once again, and also that did not help. It keeps telling me that everything is fine, and I should just switch on my mobile phone.

View 23 Replies View RelatedYesterday my Droid 2 got automatically updated to 2.3.20.A955. It worked fine yesterday. I turned it off when I went to bed and now this morning after turning it on, it appears to be functioning except the only screen display I get is the white M (Motorola logo) that normally appears when starting up. I have tried to turn the phone off and on several times, although with no display it's hard to even know if it's happening. So far, nothing.
Edit to add: Well, I took the battery out and put it back in, now it's working. I should have tried it earlier but I didn't. I'll leave the thread up just so people know there is an issue.

*The article itself is unrelated*, however, if you see the Droid X picture in the Ad at the bottom of the article, the in call screen has twitter update of the person. As far as i can tell, the in-call screen seems to be otherwise essentially AOSP call screen. IS this a customisation that Droid X people get, can i do this on my HTC Hero (Rooted with Froyo)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I received an OTA with 2.2.1. After unpacking and installing the update my phone rebooted as normal. When booting the Nexus-logo appears, but afterwards the display remains black. There are indications that the phone boots up as normal, as I can hear the sounds (ex emergency-call) when pressing the display. The display works perfect in boot-menu (rescue etc)
I've tried to do a factory reset and pulled out the battery several times to try to reset - all with no luck.
In addition I've placed an update.zip on the sd-card in order to perform a new manual update, but after choosing recovery, my phone restarts and the screen turns black. Any idea how to solve this?
So the screen supports 16m colors but because of 1.6 its limited to 16k. So with that being said when it updates to 2.1 it will be 16m colors, how much better will it look though? Cant wait to see how it looks!

I bought a HTC One X today and downloaded the system update. It has been in the update screen for like 40 minutes (with the green refresh icon above the phone on a black background). What's going on? Should I be worried? I've tried holding down the power button which turns it off but when I turn it back on it just goes to the system update screen again.
My device is a local re-branded and enhanced Xolo a500s/it's like a karbon a5 a think. After successfully updated my device via OTA and after my device rebooted. My screen started to flicker randomly. My phone is not rooted and im still using the official stock rom. I found a temporarily solution by doing a Factory Reset, the flickering would be gone but it will come back after my phone screen goes off and on.
I suspect that the new lockscreen bloatware system app that comes with the update causes this, I can't disable it(googled already, and the only way to freeze/remove it is to root.) I can't root my device for something like a hunch. I'm waiting for a software update that would fix my device's touchscreen collide bug.
I am just getting tired of the lock screen on the Hero. My main problem with it is that, if I use the stock Messaging app, the messages show on the bottom...even though i have my phone locked with a pattern lock. I know I can use handcent and not have to deal with it, but I just want to know how to get rid of the stupid lock screen. I've read around a few places, and I know it's possible on 1.5, but I'm not too sure if it's possible for 2.1. Does anyone know where I can get instructions on who to disable the lock screen for 2.1, if it's even possible. My phone is rooted. Also, if I do disable the lock screen, and then i decide to put in a new ROM on my phone, what will happen?
