I've been wanting to root my phone for a while, but I haven't had the bills to do it. I saw unrevoked released what looks like a fail proof way of doing it and I'm seriously considering taking the plunge. I'm debating whether or not to root it now or wait to see if this "possible" froyo update comes out later this month.

The phone is the htc desire, it's unlocked but not unbranded from t-mobile and currently with o2. I got the OTA for 2.2 and didn't update it because the last time i updated it caused my wifi to fork up meaning my first two weeks of owning a desire meant waiting for it to come back from HTC repair.
Adding salt to the wound, it came back locked meaning I had to fork out another tenner to unlock again. So question! does anyone have experience of updating to 2.2 on an unlocked but branded phone (on Tmobile). Will it lock the phone again?

I would be grateful for your well-informed suggestions. In my own naivety I purchased a Blackberry Curve, and it's next to useless to me since I don't have the web service (too expensive), it doesn't transfer *.html or *.pdf files by USB, audio transfer app is buggy, and in what it does do, it's a pain to use.I need a device to use as a PDA (calendar & tasks lists to sync with desktop software such as Outlook or similar), to read *.rtf & *.pdf documents, use *.html & JavaScript files, play audio files, take text memo notes, a simple IDE on which I can do some simple programming (preferably in Java, but another language would be ok), and use a flashcard app, such as Anki. All file transfers must be by USB.Oh, and I don't need it to have a phone at all, so some other device such as that Android iPad clone would be OK if it operates well, reliably, and will likely last at least a couple of years.I'm severely limited financially, so I need to choose the cheapest one which fulfillls these needs. I'd prefer a keyboard, but if any much cheaper with touchscreen only can fulfill these requirements, it will do. Buying a used device such as from ebay would keep the price down, but I need advice on selecting one, considering that I chose something as terrible as a Blackberry.

I have a BlueAnt ST3 and the volume is great when you hear the callers voice or it says "connected to phone", etc. But the volume coming from the voice of the Evo bluetooth asking me to speak now or verifying my caller choice is very low. I have looked in the bluetooth settings but don't see anything related to volume. Is this just the way it is? If not, has someone figured how to increase the phone volume without increasing the overall volume of the phone (media vol, ringer vol, etc).

I'm writing an Android application that plays back voice mails using Media Player, which are just WAV files that have been sent to the device. When I play the file, it's played on the device's speaker, or else it plays through headphones if they're plugged in. What I want to do is play the file so that it sounds to the user as if it's at the same volume level as a normal phone call. Is there a way to route playback so that the file is played through the phone's ear piece instead of out of the speaker?

is the current available update for Froyo the same update that Verizon is releasing today at 12:00 pm eastern? why should people wait till noon if its the same? also, if i want to set phone back to original settings and redownload all my apps from the market, do i need to manually set up all my email account settings again? and are all of my pictures that i have taken saved to the my SD card? so i should remove that card when resetting phone and put back into phone when done or can i leave it in phone and they should be fine during reflashing ?

Anyone know why they changed the functionality of this? You used to be able to press volume down all the way from loud, to vibrate, to silent (which would not vibrate). Now it either bottoms out at vibrate with certain settings, or skips vibrate and goes to silent. This annoys me because I have to actually go into settings now to put it in silent mode (since I have it set on always vibrate). I've yet to find a combination in the new sound settings to restore the functionality to what it was previously in 2.1. Anyone else running into this "issue", or know a combination that is the same as before?

What is the lowest % my battery will go on the EVO before the phone dies and is unable to power on until charged? I've ran it down to 20% but that isn't even close i'm hoping. My old palm pre would be very close to death and cut-out anywhere under 16%. I'd just like to know in-case I get into an emergency battery saving situation.

I was wondering if anyone found a way to get the incredible to go lower than the default 11% lowest setting sometimes at night even at this lowest setting it is still too bright and I wish it could go a bit lower also is there anyway to get the 4 home/menu lights to turn off? I really wish there was a widget for this as those too can be distracting when trying to watch a video at night.

I have bought a HDC Galaxy Note 3 N9006 1:1 Quad Core model.
The specs are:
MTK6582 Quad cores 1.3GHz Cortex A9+SGX544 GPU
Ram : 1GB
Rom : 4GB(Support TF Card up to32GB)
First of all, the biggest problem is the battery life.. The phone is on for about 1 up to 2 hours of semi-heavy usage. The screen brightness is set to the lowest one and still the battery life is really low. I dont know whether this is a software fault or the chinese battery is simply crap, so i dont know if there is any point in buying a genuine Samsung Galaxy Note 3 battery.
Secondly, i have an error on some of my apps saying that "Google services that some of your apps rely on, is not supported by your device.. ( screenshot included)" how to fix this problem on this HDC model?
Thirdly for some reason i keep on getting a message about roaming, ( i cant see the message fully, screenshot included) and i have to register my network again for it to disappear for a short period of time and then i have to repeat the same process again.
Lastly, i cannot update my youtube application and i get an error saying that i need to uninstall the previous version of the app. But the problem is that it wont let me delete the previous version.

When i updated my HTC Desire X to 4.1.1 I found 1 bug. The Volume level for the music app and only for the music app on the loud speaker was considerably lower than before. Whenever i get a notification, the music volume becomes normal but after 5 seconds it reduces back down. I tried a factory reset and that did not fix the problem. I downloaded music apps like poweramp from Google play and the Volume is normal on that. So the issue is with the Music app.

I currently installed CM10 Jelly Bean on my Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch. I understand it is still in beta and there are going to be bugs but for the most part everything works smoothly. One issue I am experiencing is when listening to music, whether via Apollo or Pandora, I set the volume to as low as it can go and it's still extremely loud. Here is some of my info :

Baseband Version: FF18
Kernal Version: 3.0.15 - CM-g0a65b27-dirty sbrissen@sbrissen #2

Again and again you promised us an update that will increase the volume (in call and ringing) of the X10. Now months have passed, there were several small updates introducing some new "cool" features (Wow, different colors for Timescape that keeps crashing after every sync with studiVZ (german facebook clone)), but it is still not possible to use the X10 as a mobile phone. n several online boards there are people allready running android 2.1 on their devices, and the volume is still to low for a mobile phone. So I am asking myself if this issue is "fixable" or are the speakers so cheap that they cannot handle higher volume? To say it again and again, I bought the X10 to use it as a smartphone and make calls with it. Otherwise I could have kept my W580i and my iPod Touch.

I am not sure if this has already been answered, but can't find it. So, I am starting a new thread. Please close this if there is similar thread exists.I have not received a froyo update on my EVO 4G. Once I waited long enough, here is what I have tried so far to get the update.
- NO update via OTA so far.
- Reset the phone to a factory setting, no luck.
- Manually tried going to setting --> System Update --> HTC software update --> check Now and have been getting "Your phone is up to date" for over a week now.
- Tried to install it myself by downloading the zip file. Followed all recommended steps. Tried this at least 3 different times, using different zip files I downloaded from different locations. I kept on getting "signature verification failed"
- Called sprint, transferred to several tech support people, who knew nothing about android 2.2 (froyo)
- Went to sprint store, and was told to give it another week or so before they consider this as an issue.
The only option I have left is to accidentally throw the phone under a Bus and get a brand new one since I got full insurance from Radio shack.
