View 4 RepliesI've just installed 2.2 on my unlocked unbranded desire from CPW on Orange. All seems well except I can't connect to my wireless network any more. I've tried rebooting and tried setting up a new connection.I just keep getting "Obtain IP adress from" but it never connects.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe phone is the htc desire, it's unlocked but not unbranded from t-mobile and currently with o2. I got the OTA for 2.2 and didn't update it because the last time i updated it caused my wifi to fork up meaning my first two weeks of owning a desire meant waiting for it to come back from HTC repair.
Adding salt to the wound, it came back locked meaning I had to fork out another tenner to unlock again. So question! does anyone have experience of updating to 2.2 on an unlocked but branded phone (on Tmobile). Will it lock the phone again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedPrior to the Froyo update, if I had anything above 10% WiFi reception, I could watch videos over WiFi. It would be more or less uninterrupted.
Since the Froyo update, I virtually cannot watch streaming video over WiFi. When I do, it plays, but it halts every few seconds and may halt for long periods. Fortunately, 3G seems less flaky since the update.
But WiFi on Froyo on my device has gone from good to essentially unusable, at least for streaming video.
My only complaints about WiFi prior to the update were lack of support 802.11n (which I've been trying to verify may have been fixed in the last 2.1 update) and the fact that my laptop could use WiFi farther away from the router in my house than my EVO could.
I read that we will be getting wireless n option soon which might also mean a froyo update as well. this is the new manual from the fcc, check the specs page at the end:

After updating to Froyo, I can no longer connect to my home WiFi. anyone else having a similar issue? I've tried re-entering my WEP key with no luck. I know my WiFi is working, I took Froyo on it and my wife's Evo that hasn't been updated to Froyo connects fine.
View 23 Replies View RelatedYesterday at my office I noticed my wireless connection cycling on and off. I have a basic D-link wireless router that networks three computers. I couldn't figure out why I kept losing internet and the network. It would work for a few minutes then not work for a few.
I finally narrowed it down to my EVO. When I have the WIFI set to on in the EVO its messing up my network. Any ideas as to why? This didn't happen until the Froyo update!
how can you tell if wifi N is working after the froyo update?
View 21 Replies View RelatedThe 2.2.1 update was supposed to fix the problem that causes wifi to disconnect when my N1 goes to sleep. As far as I can tell, I'm still having the same problem and it might even be worse because I've noticed that sometimes wifi disconnects even when the phone is plugged in, which didn't happen before.
View 16 Replies View RelatedHas anyone managed to get it to work with a Linux laptop? In the countryside where i am my mobile broadband fails frequently so it's a good feature. My Win7 laptop connects easily, but my LInux laptop doesn't. Haven't spent much time on the problem either - so before I do, anyone got it to work or is it a waste of time trying to?
View 2 Replies View RelatedReading many of the comments of people upgrading to froyo, i am at this stage rather put off upgrading to froyo. One thing that concerns me the most is, that some users are experiencing problems with the stock browser being laggy.I have a sim free Desire from the CPW.So am i right to hold back and wait for more feedback, as it seems since the update there has been more negativity to froyo than i expected. Or should i take the plunge and update to Froyo now?
View 21 Replies View RelatedWith this RUU package you can flash your phone to the current official OTA update i.e. the latest software, radio and bootloader. If you have a branded phone, this will debrand it.This method doesn't require you to root your phone and it doesn't install any unofficial or modified software. If your phone is currently rooted it will remove it.If you install an official branded update to Froyo, e.g. Vodafone's, you will not be able to install this.An alternative installation method that does not need any drivers (or even a computer) is available.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've read that there is a leaked version of the O2 Froyo update, but after searching I haven't been able to find it.. Doesn't help that O2 is only 2 characters and the forums don't search for that. Does anybody have any info? I saw the RUU one, but I don't want to wipe my phone. I'm probably better waiting for the official OTA update, to be fair. It's on the 8th or something isn't it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just checked to see if the update was available again, and hey presto it seems to be there.Hopefully it will still be there by the time I get home to download via Wifi.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought an unbranded (fairly certain it's unbranded) desire from mobicity.com.au. I'm using it on the Optus Australia network, and its currently on the wifi at my place. Looking to update to froyo, but checking through phone settings>about>updates says there's no update available. Do I need to wait for an Australian update to 2.2, or can i do it manually? Not looking to root at this stage though.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a virgin branded phone., It works with my 02 sim,so i guess it is unlocked? A few weeks a go I was prompted to install 2.2, unfortunatly it didn't work properly and my phone was bricked. I have just got my phone back from HTC after 3 long weeks and am amazed to find they havn't put the update on the phone. I have now used the option to see if there is an update for the phone and it says there isn't.Does anyone know if a Virgin branded phone with an 02 sim in it can get the update.

View 4 Replies View RelatedT-Mobile have finally released their HTC Sense update for the desire this morning. I've been waiting months for this. Everything seemed to go fine on the update, it auto backed up everything to the sd card and on updating all apps were displayed on the home screens as before. I have a problem now though - my internet browser keeps crashing when loading pages. It displays most of the page and reaches about 95% but then closes back to the home screen. I haven't done much to the phone other than installing apps and it generally worked before the update. Using webkit 3.1 browser and tried pages such as failblog, gizmodo and android forums. Any others with this problem?

View 49 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know why the Desire got the froyo update first when the Legend actually came out earlier than them? Has HTC got their priorities wrong?

Thank you for your email regarding your HTC Desire phone. Further to our conversation today. Once again please accept my apologies that we are unable to provide a date for the release. Please find below the link discussed to our website on a PC where you are able to check in the future if an update from us has been released. http://www2.orange.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?c=OUKPage&catID=1096364420631&cid=109635 9217080&itemid=1221037995178&itemtype=HowTo&mid=11 27450772656&pagename=OUKPersonal&pid=1096364420640 &product=Feature&t=Product&tabid=1 I have also supplied below the required steps that you will need to take in order to organise an update to your phone. Be advised to follow the on-screen instructions as it will give you necessary and required information regarding your phone. "your phone's features" > "download software updates" > "how do I download the latest software update" > "HTC Desire update" When a new update is made available by a handset manufacturer they will pass a version of this to us so that we can run the required tests to confirm that this update they have released will co-exist with the branding that you are required to use on your phone. It is possible that the new update that is released may not co-exist with our branding and thus we will not be able to release the update for the HTC Desire, if they can not co-exist and we were to release this to your phone, this could effectively be detrimental to your handset and we will not process for this reason........
I have seen a few firmware versions of FROYO banded around for the Desire on this Forum. Having updated my O2 Desire yesterday and playing around with it, I was curious how the O2 firmware compares with the rest. My software details are as follows: Android version 2.2. Baseband version 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 Kernel version 2.6.32.15-gd96f2c0 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1 Build number 2.14.207.1 CL233777 release-keys Software number 2.14.207.1 Browser version Webkit 3.1. I may be optimistic/delusional but I have discovered some features in the O2 Froyo release from yesterday that were showcased the other day at the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z launch event as being part of the all new HTC Sense.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am a US Cellular Desire owner from the Midwest. Just wondering what the status of an update is with my carrier. I've asked in store and gotten no definitive answer. I mean 3.0 is just around the corner and they are really dragging their feet on this one. I'm also curious as to how the update will be done. There is no option in the phone through the menu to update manually in the About Phone section. Has anyone heard what the USCC plan for update will be?
View 26 Replies View RelatedBeen holding of rooting & upgrading to one of the custom froyo roms untill the offical release of froyo for desire. View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got the shock of my life when I looked at my data counter and found that I'd used 3x my monthly allowance, and about 6x more data than I normally use. I've not installed any new apps recently, all that is different is that I upgraded to Froyo about a week ago. I even removed Facebook, due to the battery issue, so I have no idea what is suddenly consuming so much data. Can anyone recommend an app that will show you what is actively using your data connection, or can tell me what has been using the connection recently? I really need to find out what the app is, and kill it, as I've had to disable my data connection to prevent any further costs. FWIW, been looking at the phone this morning, and the data connection is constantly live, so whatever it is, it's using data all the time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of my friends has been having a problem with getting wallpaper changes to 'stick' since she updated to Froyo at the weekend. The problem is that she can change the wallpaper on her phone but if her phone has been completely powered off, when she turns it back on the wallpaper goes back to the default - it doesn't happen though if she turns the screen back on from standby.
She has tried removing the battery and saving the setup as a new scene but that doesn't help and it also isn't a problem if she just changes to a different stock wallpaper, it's only when she changes to a wallpaper she has downloaded.
I have received an update for froyo and i have installed it. But i cannot notice any change in the UI / (any froyo enhacements). But the software information of my phone is showing "Andriod Version is 2.2" and the software number is 2.13.707.1. When i'm trying to check for the updates manually "your phone is up to date" message is displayed.
