This has been happening recently with mine and my wifes EVOs. I will go to open WHERE and it says that it is not installed even though it is. When I go to the Market it shows as installed, but in order to resolve the issue I have to uninstall and reinstall the app. The same happens with Qik on my wifes phone. After the reinstall it works fine for a few days and then reverts back to the original issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
Has anyone noticed that when you install an application manually vs a downloaded one from the market it doesn't update when a newer version comes out?

Settings | Applications | Manage Apps
And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.
Is it possible to remove, delete, uninstall, or get them off the device?
Is there any way to remove the pre-installed Sprint programs?

Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.
Installed the 2.2 that leaked yesterday - works amazing by the way.Anyway, I wanted to install some of my downloaded apps to SD. Surprise surprise, it doesn't appear that I have this option on ANY of the 15 or so apps I've downloaded.I've read that developers need to unlock this option when they create their app - I guess most of the apps available today just don't support it? Can anyone confirm this? Am I just doing something wrong?

How that would work for a pre-installed app? As an initial thought I think I could pop up a message letting the user know there is a new version ready, but if I could avoid unnecessary request to the server it would be better. If a google engineer comes across this please give me a hint as you do this for Google Maps.

I have Astro file manager and when I use it to look at all the folders on the SD card, I don't see any folder that remotely looks like it would be the one. I have opened up all folders that I don't know what's in them and I don't see the apps. Unless I'm missing something. Im pretty new to the android forum so please bare with me. I've got the DHD and I love it. But the only issue I have is these pre-installed apps such as; facebook, twitter and peep.
First of all why do i need twitter AND peep? I want to get rid of the latter and i've heard that I need to root my phone to do that. Can someone point me to a newbs step by step to rooting the DHD if such a thing exists please?
Secondly, the pre-installed apps don't have the option of updating! So as far as I can see I have to actually download these apps again from the market and then update them when they come.
