Aug 11, 2010I just unrooted my evo because i was having issues with Fresh 1.0.1, i was unable to update to Fresh 3.0. I decided to unroot (i think i unrooted right) and once i did that i get the Froyo update pop up asking to update my software. When i click on ok to download the update it than ask to install, when i click install my Evo reboots and looks like its going to unpack but then i get an exclamation mark with the android robot. Anyone know how to fix this or know whats wrong?

Aug 4, 2010I have a Desire from Vodafone (UK) that came with its practically invisible branding. Voda recently put out an update (that I have not installed yet) that would load it up with a bunch of branding bloatware. Word is that when they put out their Froyo update, it will have the same unremovable bloatware. I'd rather not have that.
If I root my Desire (with, say, unrEVOked) and install an official stock Froyo ROM (such as was received by those with completely unbranded Desires), what happens after that? Will I then have an essentially unbranded Desire that receives automatic OTA updates for bug-fixes (and, just maybe, Gingerbread)?
Or will I be stuck with a possibly buggy version of Froyo while waiting for a similar root-method to develop to install a bug-fixing patch?

Aug 29, 2010This is the RUU, and it will wipe your phone, Clean. (It won't wipe your SD card) , but it's up to you. It's the exact same as the official that Verizon is rolling out, except a Preferred Roaming List, which just determines what towers you can connect to. This will not root your phone.

Aug 16, 2010A buddy of mine just got the Vibrant and he was asking me if there is a way to do a manual install of Froyo rather than wait for the update. Aug 30, 2010I am a new member here, just joined a few days ago. I've had my HTC Incredible (Verizon) for about 2-3 weeks and so far I love it. I've been reading these forums every day, multiple times a day ever since I joined here a few days ago, but haven't posted anything yet. I remember the first day I joined here I saw a thread that was discussing a custom Froyo ROM that you could install on your phone that would NOT root your phone. However, I also saw one that allowed free hotspot tethering, that didn't accrue any charges from Verizon Wireless, unless I am mistaken, but I beleive I did read that someone where on here. I'm not looking for someone to walk me through how to install, or root the phone or anything like that, I understand all the inns and outs of doing that.....I provide PC technical support for a living, working on my B.S. degree in Computer Science, so I'm pretty fluent in the technical aspects of working the phone and rooting and all of that, I was just trying to have someone point me in the right direction to the Foryo update.zip/rom that you could install on your phone that would do the following two options:1. I would prefer the version that doesn't root the phone, but instead just installs, if I have to end up rooting the phone that's fine, I would just prefer not to only because of possibly voiding the warranty, not because I'm afraid of screwing it up haha, I feel perfectly comfortable doing it if I must.2. I read one of these allowed free hotspot tethering and also got rid of Verizon's bloatware as well, I don't know if all of these are found all in one custom rom, but if they are that would be great if you could point me in the direction where I can download it at.

Sep 17, 2010I got my "dinc" in early August with 2.1 onboard and recieved the OTA froyo upgrade about two weeks ago. I like 2.2 (I think) but not all the battery-vampire crap-apps that came with it. I desparately want to root so that I can explore the full potential of this phone and hopefully find some options to extend my battery and get rid of the bloatware.
Unrevoked's website says v3.2 has been temporarily pulled and to use v2.2 "in the meantime". I've tried several of the methods that call for 3.2 using 2.2 and it seems to work up to the reboot step towards the end. Each time I get this "failed to flash recovery image" message. I've followed every detail of several videos and posts (including one from this forum) instructing how to root with Unrevoked, but the end result is always the same.
1. Can I use Unrevoked to root my phone with the froyo upgrade in place?
2. If so, how? Because what I've been trying ain't gettin' it done.
3. If not, is there a way to roll-back to 2.1 so that I can use Unrevoked?
4. Could the 2.2 version of Unrevoked be casuing my "failed flash" issue?

Jul 30, 2010Been holding of rooting & upgrading to one of the custom froyo roms untill the offical release of froyo for desire. Quick question are we ok to root after this new froyo update or will the new froyo update patch this proccess in someway to prevent us from doing us ....? if so i may do now so i dont lose ability to root.
