I searched forum for this topic and it seemed that all the info was related to blocking others from calling our EVO's. I however need to know if it's possible to block my EVO's #? I would prefer NOT to broadcast my # to anybody/everybody I need to call.

But at the end of the operation, after the reboot, the smartphone gets stuck on the sony logo.

Recently, he's been going into places in my phone that I don't want him to go in. My email, my contacts, and other files. Once, he even sent out a massive test to random people on my contact list. So, I banned him from playing with my phone until I find an app that blocks guest users from going through parts of my phone that I don't want them too.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a few different email accounts and on my PC I have most of the spam under control by a junk mail filter that catches almost all of what the ISP's filter doesn't. On the Incredible, however, those ads still get through and it's annoying of course. If I could just even get rid of the Viagra ads, I'd be happy, because there wouldn't be much spam left if they were gone. I figure there has to be a way to do a keyword block of these ads but I just can't figure this out on here. Any ideas?

My question is, Can i totally block off Data Usage through just the phone itself? Is there any possible solutions? I want this phone, but just to have the wifi capability, I do not want any expensive data charges. If this phone is not possible to do so, I know some are, but I do not know which. How about the Htc Touch Diamond? Or any other phones you guys possibly know of that can disable the data function.

I'm using GV for texting and want to completely drop my texting plan but also don't want to get hit with loads of texts coming to the wrong number. Is there just a way to prevent incoming texts altogether?
Obviously, I plan to send out a couple of "notices" of the change of number BUT you know how some people are...they just won't change the number and forget by the next time they try to text me...LOL (well sort of!) I don't want to pay per text. That could get expensive FAST!
i lost my phone today and i called my carrier and they said they could blacklist/block my phone so no one can access it!so i gave them my IMEI number, but he couldn't answer if rooting / flashing roms would affect this!

I saw a few market apps that claim to block sms/calls. Reviews on all were mixed good & bad. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with any or had a suggestion for an app to stop this madness.
Also curious if anyone knows how they actually block. Basically I want to know if I just don't get a notification, or it just doesn't show in messaging app/handcent, or if it really gets blocked - as in not actually sent to me and does not charge me for a text.
If all they do is stop the notification I can just use settings profiles for that. But I'd really like to not have them be charged to me. I am on a 250/month plan and might risk going over at the rate they're being sent.

Unfortunately, I get numerous calls, often with recorded messages, from people trying to sell me something for which I am not interested. On my old, non-HTC phone I would just add the unwanted incoming number to a contact called ?Delete? and set the ring for that contact to silent. The EVO 4G does not permit dozens of numbers to be added to a single number. If anyone has a better solution to tag a number as unwanted and not ring I would love to hear about it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have to process some events given by a broadcast receiver. As kindly suggested by Mark M. a week ago, I am trying to send the intent to an intentservice in order to pass the data to be processed to another thread.
Looking at the doc, I can read abot onHandleIntent: "Only one Intent is processed at a time, but the processing happens on a worker thread that runs independently from other application logic. So, if this code takes a long time, it will hold up other requests to the same IntentService, but it will not hold up anything else.
What does it mean? Will the intents be queued and then processed one by one, or does it mean that the startService will block if the intentService is busy processing a previous intent?
And more (this is just my curiosity): What is the point in having a onStartCommand method in IntentService if the Intents must be processed in "onHandleIntent"?
We need to block ALL numbers incoming and outgoing (calls and texts) from a cell phone (of a teenager) with the exception of a few numbers. All applications we have researched block only certain numbers where we need to allow only a few telephone numbers to text or call incoming or outgoing from this cell phone.
