Aug 31, 2010I hear this is important. Any way to tell if my root has this?

View 8 RepliesI just got my replacement Evo, preloaded with 1.47 (thankfully not Froyo). Is there a way to get to rooted 1.47 and then rooted Froyo without doing nand unlock? It was possible with the 1.32 roms I think, but I can't a root approach for 1.47 that does not rely on loading the eng-PC36IMG that overwrites the PRI. If it's not possible, I'll dive in with SimpleRoot, but I wanted to try this experiment.

Cyanogen-6, but some people are having trouble flashing it. Will this be a problem, I have root experience with the Hero and custom ROM's but I never heard anything about NAND unlock on the hero.

So I think I rooted fine. I used this link and it seemed to go great. Said done, etc.How To: Root the HTC Evo 4G (Unrevoked Method) | TheUnlockr Now, for the NAND, I'm using this link: How To: Unlock NAND on the HTC Evo 4G | TheUnlockr This is where my issues start to occur. Step 10 my phone detects the PC36IMG file and does it's thing but then says it failed because the main version is older?? So I reboot the phone and try to do the rest of the steps and on step 13 I get an error after hitting enter on the recovery.img line (last line in the shell) stating that there is no more space (I'm assuming on my SD card? I have a 32GB card). Can someone help me? My phone seems to be working fine even after these errors, but obviously I can't get rid of NAND (what I need to do in order to remove the sprint apps?).
For anyone here that has used Simpleroot, anyone had issues with Step 2? Everytime I click Unlock NAND, instead of moving into that step it does Step 1 again and tries to push the .img to the SD card. Is this a known issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I am trying to flash the WW rom and i can flash it just fine and everything works like it should but i had to wipe obviously to flash it, when i do a Nand Restore, it restores to the EE 3.0 rom i'm coming from. Can someone tell me when i'm supposed to restore? Should I wipe and then flash the rom, and THEN restore? Or should I wipe restore then flash the rom? I'm confused on the process i guess.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been thinking about rooting my phone ever since i got it, the Evo is my first Android phone so I'm kinda new to all of this. When Z4Root came out I thought about using it but then noticed that it did not work on NAND devices. The reason I have not rooted is because of the warranty stuff. So I have a few questions I need to ask. I see that with Z4root they have added an option for temporary root which will work on NAND devices, if I do use this will they be able to tell my phone was rooted after a restart, will the temporary root allow me to use apps such as wireless tether for root users, if I root and have insurance on my phone will they not acknowledge the insurance since it is rooted, and if I unroot the phone by restarting will the warranty still be acknowledged.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently acquired an A13 tablet and wanting to install CM10 on it I first installed CWM 6.0.2.8 according to the famous manual (if it's relevant I'll post the exact url). Anyway, it got stuck on CWM (doesn't boot normally). Now I figured it can't install since using 'adb shell' and looking at /proc/partitions -- nothing is there!
"""
cat /proc/partitions
major minor #blocks name
179 0 15558144 mmcblk0
179 1 15554048 mmcblk0p1
"""
So I have no internal memory to use -- no internal memory to install to, right?
"""
ls /dev/block
loop0 loop2 loop4 loop6 mmcblk0 nandf ram0
loop1 loop3 loop5 loop7 mmcblk0p1 platform ram1
"""
Seems that only nandf exists, which means I can't cat into nandg and sync and install new img. Right? Or am I missing something? How do I fix this?
I used the Simple Root Technique completely. My phone is done. (used Simple Root 1, not OTA). Now, I'm trying to backup my phone with ROM Manager and then flash a ROM. (is this needed?) I downloaded ROM Manager and when I click "Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery" (to set it up on my phone) it gives me "An Error Occurred While Trying to Run Privileged Commands!" After I rebooted after the Flash Recovery in step 3 (which I thought installed Clockwork..or maybe not, I don't know) it gave me the option of putting data that was backed up onto my phone from the SD card....I said "Cancel" instead of allowing it. Was that a mistake?? Do I need to redo this entire process from scratch?? What am I doing wrong? If I don't need ROM Manager, then how do I enter Clockwork without it (from the 3rd step/process from Simple Root)? Am I doing an unnecessary step here by downloading ROM Manager? What exactly did Flashing Recovery in Step 3 of Simple Root do? Should I just flash a ROM over what I have? I am completely new to this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just done a nand backup, then unrooted (downgrade), then used Unrevoked to root and did a nand restore. Btw that took forever! Anyway after it was said and done the phone rebooted, and viola everything was back on there. The only hitch is since I have done the restore my phone has shut off by itself 3 times. I was ever so reluctant about doing the whole Unrevoked process and this is why. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Update: It hasn't turned off since after the third time so I guess it's stable now.
View 1 Replies View Relatedalright so I have heard that the epic uses 1 gb of NAND memory. I know this is faster then the regular cards. Here is my question.Does the epic have NAND memory? If it does I heard that we can't store apps to the external card until 2.2 comes out. So aren't we going to have very limited space for apps until then?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI unrooted and updated my radio last week to play with the first leaked froyo rom. I decided I did not like it and did a nand restore to my backup that was before the radio update. My radio shows that it is back to before 2.xxx.xxx but my h-boot is still updated. I wanted to play with a couple new roms that have come out since with working 2.2 but I have a few questions. Will I brick if I re-install the OTA radio? Do I have to downgrade h-boot first?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHTC sensation blackscreen, trying to flash a nand backup. ADB, fastboot and Shell working.
I got into shell, can #ls that directory ok ..#cd sdcard... try to #ls sdcard or any other folder and will not show content. Im not up with linux commands. I believe I am missing a mount command somewhere.
What Im after is the location of backup folder so I can see the filename of the nand backup to restore in fastboot. And the commands necessary to restore a nand backup via adb, shell or fastboot.
If I have a Nand backup from a fresh root before any ROMs were put on. Can I unroot from that first nand and go back to non-rooted if i choose to or do I have to go another route to unroot and be back to non rooted? I have searched and all I can find is downgrading back to 1.5 and I don't want to go back that far. This is purely hypothetical If I ever want to go back to original for purposes of selling the phone or having to send it back to the Big V.

I'm experiencing some phone audio issues that pop up and then mysteriously go away again. Specifically I cannot hear the audio from the other caller and the only way to have the conversation is by turning on speakerphone (which always works but is quite inconvenient). The other party can always hear me alright.

I am rooted with the first of toast's steps and running an early fresh rom 2.1. I never felt up to doing the rest of the steps and I never did the ota update. Does anyone know whether I can simply use the simple root to rerot or fully root with recovery now in order to flash the rooted 2.2 roms that require nand /recovery and does it matter that I never did the update?
View 1 Replies View RelatedStuck with a bricked phone but don't want to clear everything...i can root it again, but I'd prefer to use my old ROM
is it under the clear, restore, NAND option?
I have a phone called Y9190 that suddenly turned off and will not turn back on. I tried to flash it with flashtool, but the program sends me this error:
"Boot Loader does not exist on NAND / eMMC flash! Please download bootloader first."
At this point, I do not know how to go forward. The flashtool drivers are installed correctly and the rom is the right one.
I was curious about this myself, and i have seen numerous post about this on the forums complaining about having to unlock with the top button
I searched about nexus since it is similar and saw a few things about the app LOCKBOT, i recommend you atleast try the free version and see, it gives you unlock with the trackpad button and the ability to do custom lockscreen with different styles like Iphone, and different android locks. THis was one grip i didnt like about sense. Stock Android has the ability to swipe to unlock or swipe the other way to mute sounds, which is a nice feature, although i prefer my iphones switch the best
The bad...Ive read stuff about it crashing and being laggy, now i havnt experiended this on the INC, it runs super smooth. But i have been having a few times where the front button will not unlock the phone, maybe an update will fix this or something, but its worth a shot to look at.
I've entered a wrong pattern too many times. The phone now asks for my gmail username and password. I tried to enter them, but it doesn't accept the credentials. They are certainly valid, I know because I logged in via web browser with the same name/pass and it works.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is for an EVO but i'm thinking maybe it'll be similar to other android phones. what i'd to set up is to have the phone require the 'dot unlock pattern' after it's been sitting for 5 minutes idle. when i set it up with AutoLock, whenever the screen turns off after 1 minute, it'll rqeuire me to do the slide down to unlock which i don't want.

Today the rom bug bit me and I tried about 3 or 4 different roms (after TIbackup and nand backup of course) including xtrROM and ELB, hated them all, and decided to go back to my beloved sense-able 3.1 nand backup.
wiped, restored, and now all my market links are gone. (except for gmaps, for some reason). TIbackup refuses to even install again from the market because the package signature is incorrect, or something. TIb said it was supposed to restore market links.any suggestions? is there even any way to restore a market link besides just reinstalling the program outright? I found this thread http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/81290-market-does-not-see-all-my-downloads-after-nandroid-restore.html as reference. All my programs will show as "installed" if I search them in market.either way, sense-able was definitely the sexiest-out of the box ROM I tried. everything else without sense was just ugh, looked like I'd loaded up a G1. couldn't tell a speed difference at all with the same setCPU profile, and xtrROM was so bad on battery I only made it through few hours before uninstalling. I cannot live with the sense keyboard and search-dialer.
