View 8 RepliesI don't want to see the text labels, but I want everything else to stay the same. I don't want to use Home++ or anything else that fundamentally changes the Android experience. Could an app be made to do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHello everyone. Is there a feature or a check box that I am missing that allows you to turn off the little text labels beneath the application icons on the home screen? I'm kind of doubtful, but a search did not return an answer. It would certainly clean up the home screen. Plus a lot of labels are "cut off" due to length and that is just annoying.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been having fun customizing the look of my phone and getting more and more out of it. Recently I've been making custom shortcuts as I like having different icons. What I don't like is that there's a label on the Icon. The icon pack I am currently using is Manups Simple Word. What happens is when I create a Shortcut to the market for example the Icon shows in text Market Stock and then beneath it the Label Market. I don't like that if read together it becomes Market Stock Market
Is there a way I can remove the labels from shortcuts? I am currently running Froyo with LauncherPro using folder organizer and I also have anycut. The solution must not involve rooting or using any paid apps as well I can't get paid apps here. I read here Is it possible to strip HTC Sense UI from the HTC Desire? that Helix has the option to remove labels from shortcuts. I'll rather not move to Helix and stay with launcherpro.
is there a way to have a folder in the 'All programs' and then within that folder place the links to applications?
I am looking for something like the start button on a PC.
There are many apps we can install that we never actually need an icon for, such as Phonebook and Cnomp to name but 2.
When I was using a BB I could create a folder and dump the links to similar apps inside or I could simply hide an icon.
How can I do it on the Hero?
My phone is rooted. I want to be able to hide app icons from app drawer. But i want to be able to use it.
I tried CCSW App Manager but when it hides, i couldn't be able to use.
For example 2cloud. When i am going to share url, i can use it from right click. But i don't want 2cloud icon in appdrawer.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Android 4.2.2. Is there any way of removing ongoing icons which permanently sit on the left side of the status bar? I ask because apps like 'Unlock with WiFi' warns you when disabling its permanent icon that it will hinder the process' activity. I tested it and yes, the app didn't detect the state of my WiFi well. Same goes for BBM's Connected icon.
Is there any way of making their visibility 0% or making the icons 0px, if not 1px, without disabling the icons entirely?
I designed the user interface of my app on the emulator and then I installed it on the Nexus one. For some reason the text boxes, labels buttons etc. have shrink in size. It looks as if the view has been zoomed out on the phone. If I arrange it correctly on the phone the objects don't fit on the emulator. Has anyone faced this? Is there some setting to have consistency between the look of the emulator and Nexus One.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have used a bit of Android code to override the "Done" button in my EditText field:
myEditField.setOnEditorActionListener(new TextView.OnEditorActionListener() {
@Override public boolean onEditorAction(TextView v, int actionId, KeyEvent event) {
if (actionId == EditorInfo.IME_ACTION_DONE) { mySubroutine();
return true; } return false; } } );
Activating the field calls up the keyboard, and pressing "Done" evaluates mySubroutine() successfully. However, the keyboard no longer goes away when I press "Done". How do I restore this default behavior to the routine?
Anyone know of an app that makes this possible or even just an icon pack but without the text underneath each icon?
View 8 Replies View Relatedthere is a way to edit the text below your icons. For instance I would like my Handcent icon to instead say "messages" below it. Can I do that and if so how? Also on a side note, could someone enlighten me as to what all this UI business is about? Some people talk about using "sense" and some people use something else. What exactly do these user interfaces do and how do people change them?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIm trying to figure out is there a program where I can transfer all my music from my laptop on windows to my unrooted htc evo. Been looking through all the forums but havent seen any. My nephew broke my usb so it has to be OTA. Now the icon problem. I recently downloaded a icon set from someone on these forums. It has talk text web icons. They are in like square bubbles. Their white and it says like Talk in big letters and dialer under. Then like Text in big letters and messengers under them. Wondering if there are anymore icons like that or if anyone could lead me in the right direction. Ok last one lol. I want to post my screen on my evo. My apple killer is unrooted and I do not have a usb. Is there anyway I can take a screenshot of my phone and get it on the forums without being rooted or having a usb?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI want to display the icons in grid view and also text heading for that icon just below it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've noticed a lot of people rocking the colored text icons in their dock.I have the dreamly dock text icons, but its simply black/white and was wondering if someone can post a link to the icon pack where I can get the ones with different colors in them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI understand how to change icons, but for those icons that change due to a notification. Where and how do i provide a 2nd icons or a number status next to it similar to the originals?
Currently my icons are changed for text and email, however they do not change with the incoming.
My wife was messing with her Ally, don't know what she did but she cannot text and I notice the icons are missing on left side of toolbar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust looking for a simple way to remove the text below any icons on my home screen. For example, since I already know what the phone app icon looks like, there's no reason I need to see the text. This is purely for aesthetics.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am using this following code which creates a ListView with text and an icon but the problem that I have which the following I want the array to be dynamic instead of static so my list gets created dynamically not statistically. My ultimate goal is to retrieve specific strings from my Db and to display it then on the Listview where every string would be in each row.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a few questions about how Chomp works on the Epic: If I download Chomp, will I still get notifications at the top notification pull down on the home page? Or are the only notifications given on the actual chomp icon? (I don't want to have two notifications.) I was also wondering if I would still be able to use the "speak to text" feature that the stock app has? Lastly, there is a set of permanent icons on the home screen (phone, contacts, messaging, apps). When I click messaging, would it go to chomp?
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan someone please tell me how to remove the text on Moto and Droid icons/widgets?
View 1 Replies View Relatedshould the voice mail icon have a number on it like the email or text icons if you get a new voicemail? If I get a notification, it only shows up on the task bar. I was also experiencing not recieving texts. I have since done a reset which fixed the text issue (and sleep-for now), but not the voicemail. Should I take the phone back? I fear its anotjer software bug, not hardware. I love this phone, but I'm getting very annoyed that it can't even do what its suppose to.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to add a label to each of the points on a map that I've created. Setting the "title" and "snippet" values of the OverlayItem don't seem to automatically cause these labels to appear however. I would've thought this would be a pretty simple and common requirement. Am I missing something? Can someone tell me if there's a function that does this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am starting with listactivity. I was able to create a simple list view using ListActivity and Arrayadapters. The problem before me now is i need a screen which contains a few labels and fields and under them a listview. how to go about it ? moreover whats the difference between layout and activity ? how well should i use them ? Until now I thought one application one activity, but after looking Apisamples i found myself wrong. A few correct links will help. is "busy programmers' guide to android dev" a good book ? Can I get a softcopy from somebody?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've found that apps which come into my inbox bring up a notification, awesome. However, I have Gmail filters setup to sort out my numerous emails into various labels, but keep them unread. Is there a way to get notifications for new emails which go into those labels?
View 7 Replies View RelatedEventually found out how to do this as there was a customize feature on the HTC Magic. The solution is to do it through Google Contacts and then synchronize the contacts back to the phone. Simple - pity no one at HTC Support seemed to know.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWe have used a Google domain and provided mail (gmail) for some time. Have quite a number of labels in use to file things. Only a few labels I need synced to my EVO. Inbox is obvious and is at the top of the list so easy to find etc. Problem is that the 4 or 5 others that I use regularly are all down the list in alpha order. Is there anyway to reorder the list of labels to bring the sync'd ones to the top or to filter so non-synced labels do not show in the list? Or perhaps shortcuts I could build on my home page to go directly to other than inbox?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs above really. How can I add custom labels for people's numbers? Home, work, Home fax etc are not enough. I need to create my own. Is it possible? Thanks!
View 28 Replies View RelatedJust put a new gmail widget on my homescreen and it allowed me to put the widget on the screen without the gmail label. It looks so much cleaner than the other widgets around it that now I want to get rid of all of the labels.
View 11 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to ask if anyone knows of a good solution for bookmark labels or folders? Honestly, great web browsing is the biggest selling point for android, and no decent browser apart from opera supports that basic function (sadly, safari has it licked, bookmark manager on the iPhone is great). I've tried some market apps, but they either don't recognize bookmarks from dolphin or just plain suck.

Why did gmail create these labels? All of them are empty so can I just delete them? I use the gmail app and not the HTC one.
