View 2 RepliesI deleted the stock messaging app thinking that I could just use Handcent. My texts are working fine but I am not receiving MMS. Does anyone have the stock messaging app .apk?

View 6 Replies View Relatedso my droid incredible began to slow down && i had to figure out what was making my phone so slow.. come to find out.. it was Handcent SMS -- the text messaging app i had been using ever since i bought the phone.. i updated it the last time it notified me of an update && then it stopped working... always force closing.. so i had to use chomp SMS instead.. but i hate chomp -- handcent is ten times better.. i tried reinstalling handcent on my phone but i couldnt even find it in the android market so i was assumed the maker removed it from the store.. do any of you know of any other text messaging apps that are really good for the droid incredible? or do you know of any way that i could possibly put handcent SMS back on my phone?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm so frustrated with MMS.I can't get them to send using Handcent or ChompSMS without numerous forwarding attempts. I can receive them immediately with no problems from other people even on differenct carriers, but they won't send.I finally got my SMS to stop crashing/force closing and deleting all my messages by uninstalling the Antivirus app. Im on day two (since the uninstall) without a force close.I had no problem sending MMS until I installed Handcent. I even uninstalled Handcent.Rebooted and re-installed. No outgoing MMS without 2 or 3 message forwards. I tried the Airplane Mode trick. No change. After uninstallling Handcent again, I chose ChompSMS to see if that works. Same thing.it's a no go for sending out. The stock messaging app is the only one that works, but it's so BORING.
View 11 Replies View RelatedFirst post here. I tried searching (a lot) and couldn't find the answer. You know the box that pops up when you send a text that asks what app you want to use? There is a message at the bottom that tells you how to change defaults once you check the "don't ask me again" box. I didn't bother to read that and now can't find where to change the default. Anyone know or can someone look at that box and read what it says at the bottom? I can't anymore since I chose a default and the box no longer pops up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOk so I have fallen in love with this phone, coming from a blackberry, but have a HUGE problem..I can recieve picture messaging fine, BUT when I send to anyone who owns an iPHONE, and yes, it's the versions that are capable, they do not recieve it....I was able to send picture messages fine from my blackberry to ALL carriers, including iphones...what makes it worse is that I NEVER get an error message. Everything seems to go through so I never know they never recieved it until I follow up..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was a huge advocate for ebuddy, but The app doesn't support Froyo, and I'm using a 2.2 rom. So, I'm hoping one of you can recommend an instant messaging app to try out.
I've tried a few and can't find one I like.
ebuddy: No froyo support
Meebo: Blows. Constant disconnects.
IM+: No longer supported
What I need:
1. AIM, Facebook, GChat, MSN
2. Remain signed in 24/7
3. Froyo support
Does the instant messaging apps such as AIM use your text messaging plan?
View 12 Replies View Relatedfor some reason my messaging app is force closing and only rebooting the phone gets it back but upon restarting ALL my messages are gone. Is this happening to anyone else?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Handcent and loved it, but the issue I had was that I was now getting notifications from both the stock HTC Messaging app and Handcent.
Since I use Google Voice for Visual Voicemail, and want to use Handcent for messaging, there is really no use for the stock HTC Messaging app.
Is there a way to disable it completely?
Does anyone also have this issue. When I turn the phone on, tap the messaging button, and then tap on a text message conversation that I want to see and reply to, there is a 6-8 second delay in for it to open. The screen goes dim and it says loading. Anyone else have this issue?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis morning around 8am central time I was prompted with a message saying a new update was available. So I downloaded it using my wireless network at home. I've been at work all day and my incredible has been laggy and I can only send txts using google voice. I usually use handcent but I uninstalled it bc it kept foreclosing after the update. Ive tried repeatedly to use the default message app but when I select it, the only thing that comes up is a blank white screen n then the forceclose message. I haven't received an incoming txt all day either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhats the scoop behind which one is really better? The stock messaging app or aftermarket apps (handcent and chomp). I use Handcent, and lately I have been finding it to be quite laggy and slow, even with cache cleared and all threads deleted. Is the only difference between stock and aftermarket, the fact that you can customize? I would much rather have a plain looking stock app that performs well, then a customizable aftermarket app that is slow. I am just looking for some opinions.
View 16 Replies View RelatedOn 2.1 I used handcent and loved it, never had a problem. After updating handcent was extremely slow even after installing and reinstalling. I tried the stock messaging app and it's very slow too. I'm now trying chomp sms and it's still kinda slow as well. Is anybody having this problem? Could it be just a messaging bug in 2.2?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't send picture messages or receive them, it's really irritating, every time someone sends me one it just says there was an error and constantly retrys to download until I have to delete the message, similar thing happens when I try and send a message, any solutions?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the 2.2 update and none of my text messages are coming though. I tried Chomp, Handcent and the native app and it keeps freezing and force closing at the screen. It doesn't even show my contacts in the messaging app.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a means by which the font size may be INCREASED in the Messaging and People apps. The fonts are too small for me, and I am sure others as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNow that we installed ChompSMS, we need to turn off the notifications in the stock messaging app so that we don't get two notifications for each message. But I don't find any settings in the messaging app menu so that I can change it there. And I can't find it in the general Settings. So, how do I do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used to snap a pic on my Samsung Sway, was given the option to send in a message, then it resized and off it went. How do I snap a pic and send in a message on my incredible? I have the manual downloaded and printed all 206 pages and still don't understand the resizing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been trying out some different ROMs trying to pick out a daily and I have ran into a very annoying problem. When I download a sense ROM I cannot send MMS through Handcent or ChompSMS. However, the stock messaging app works like a charm when sending them. The only problem is that I hate the stock messaging app. I always wipe and don't flash any other zips before I try sending the MMS and it still doesn't work. The weird thing is that I can use Handcent and ChompSMS on the CM6 ROM. I've tried the APN method and factory data resets. Nothing.
Here's the sense ROMs I have tried with no luck:
-Myn's RLS2 and 3
-Nil's business sense
-Virtuous v3.1.0
-SkyRaider 3.3
Today I actually unrooted my phone and got everything stock again, and Handcent and Chomp still didn't work. This is very annoying because I have flashed probably 30 times in the past 3 days trying to find a Sense ROM I can get to work.
So after this 2.2 update, i have been slowly starting to use the native messaging app again, and i can honestly say it is finally on par with chomp. Minus the customization of notifications and backgrounds and whatnot, all of which i dont really use, i am wondering if i should do away with chomp and go back to the stock app? The only thing i think i would miss about chomp is how i have it set so when i get a text the screen lights up so i can slide down and read it without having to press the lock button up top. Thoughts?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI do not yet have the incredible but am considering it. I have never had a phone like this, I have had my env2 for two years. I never liked using the keyboard when you open it, I am so much faster doing it on the front screen with itap on the numbers. Does the droid have a setting like this where you can change it from a keyboard to a number pad and text that way? Help would be appreciated, I am a big texter and it will be a big factor.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having a problem with contact photos not showing in the messaging apps since 2.2? They don't show in the stock app or Handcent, but show fine in the People app.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have pic text messaging issues? I get an error message "unable to send message. Retrying generic network failure"
I have handcent, but get the same error message with stock messaging app.
The only things I could find within the incredible forums was that it may be linked to a app bug, which that specific app I have never used, or this is a known HTC error which I can't confirm.
I just updated my ROM from Virtuous 2.6 to Virtuous 2.7. Ever since, my Facebook contact pics for almost all my people will not show up in the Messaging app, including my own pic. The pictures show up find under People (HTC's contacts), but won't show up in Messaging.

The "everything data" plan from Sprint is definitely cheaper than others, but if I don't need messaging, it will cost me more.
