My wife has a bone stock Droid.. Nothings rooted ed, modded or anything. Can she use it to get online on her laptop? I know with my EVO, I had to root it to get wireless. She just has a month unlimited data. Does that work or will I have to do pdanet/easy tether or a wifi hack on the phone for her? She is leaving today for a trip and seems to think its just going to work because the phone says wifi on it.

The problem is that after I successfully connect to my network, I am unable to browse the internet, access the Market, or use any music apps which require internet access. I have verified that my phone is capable of doing all of this while connected to an unsecured wifi network, however, my network is secured. I'm not sure if that's what the issue is.A little bit of info about my home network - I have a Motorola SBG900 cable modem w/built-in wireless access. I have it setup for b/g network, WPA/PSK, etc. The strange thing about this is that I have two laptops, & my iPad setup on the same wireless network and all of them are able to access the network with no issues.

Do I need a wireless router for my Droid Incredible to connect to Internet? Or will the phone connect to the Internet like my LG Dare already does (click on icon and it goes to Internet)? Or can I connect both ways? Do you know what I mean? I am supposing that that if I had a wireless router, that would allow me wifi connection. Is that faster than just using the phone on its own?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOk, I am rooted and have the wireless tethering app installed. @ 1st it worked pretty good, but here recently it will work for a few minutes then cause my internet to go out for like 30 min or so...but when I tether with pdanet it works for hours with no problem ever. what am I doing wrong when I wirelessly tether to make it stop working, when it stops working, my mac is still connected to the wifi but won't transmit anything.

Plug a USB wireless adapter into the PC, Run a virtual machine with the virtual network adapter pointed to the USB wireless adapter. I run wireless tether on the EVO and boom my PC stays in tact on the corporate network, so email and other network activity works and appears normal and is routed thru the corp LAN, but when I want to browse the web I jump in my VM which is routed thru my EVO.
Does any one know how to get my incredible to connect to my windows 7 made ad-hoc wireless Internet?

After you root, do you use the wireless hotspot app already on your phone, or do you need to download another app to use. I'm not quite brave enough to try this yet, but as a previous BB Storm user I tried nearly every upgraded OS that was leaked and never had an issue. The universal androot app looks pretty fool proof.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI already picked up some good tips but am having a lot of problems with my droid. I will start with the tethering issue. I have mine done with smoked glass and it has the wireless tether installed. It will open and my computer will sync up with it either secured or unsecured and then you will see a several seconds flash of bytes in and out and then the kbps will drop down to 0 and I will be unable to connect to the internet. I have read that newer versions may solve the problem and that if I dont have my ordinal sd card in, it might be the problem since the info may be needed? I did try copying those folders onto this card but still no good. The android one to be exact. If the only option is to remove this tether and install a new apk one, how do I that? I cant seem to find it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedBeen running with my Droid now for 3 weeks and I'm finally going to start playing with running wifi at work (my cube and only my cube I have 3g issues ) and I connected to it a couple days ago. Our network admin in his infinite wisdom created a pass key that is like 46 characters long. So I entered it, and was connected. Fast forward to today, I enabled wifi again and tried connecting to the network and it asked me for the pass key again. Does it now save that? Is it supposed to? I would assume that would be a pretty big PITA that every time I want to connect to wireless network that I've connected to before it re-asks me my password.

I have tried it with and without a wep key and with and without access control, but I always get error code 51300 or 51301. I don't know if this is because it seems like there is still some sort of mac filtering (which is not supported by the ds) even when access control is disabled. Is there anyway to preapprove a certain mac address or has anyone been able to get their wifi connection to work with the ds?
