View 4 RepliesI am so confused on notifications. This is what I see happening by default.
SMS/MMS - Trackball
Exchange Email - Trackball
Gmail - Green LED
Google Talk - Green LED
Missed Call - Green LED
In my Settings --> Sound & Display --> Notifications --> Notification flash ... everything is checked for Trackball.
I'm curious is to how this is working for everyone else. I wish the trackball would only light up for SMS/MMS.
Has anybody found a way to make the trackball blink for various other notifications other than SMS and eMail? I use google talk all the time and I would love to have the trackball light blink slowly (just like the normal alert for a waiting SMS message) when I receive a google talk message that I haven't read. Or how about gMail? They light up the notification led blinking green but there is no trackball notification. I'm actually quite surprised there doesn't seem to be any setting I can find to make the trackball blink for various notifications. My phone's already rooted so that should expand my options but I haven't found anybody that's done this yet.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used to have chompSMS and the trackball lit up when I got a new text. I uninstalled it and went back to the native texting app but decided I liked chompSMS's UI and ability to set different ringtones to different contacts so I went back to it... and now my trackball won't light up when I get a text. The notification LED flashes, but no trackball light at all. I kind of liked it cause it was the only way I could tell I got a text when I was on a call (seeing the trackball light up out of the corner of my eye).Any ideas as to what's wrong? Or does chompSMS's latest update not support the trackball lighting up anymore? The trackball still lights up for calls and emails though, so I know it's not the phone's hardware causing the problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a question about handcent sms application. Whenever I get sms via standard message program, my trackball lights up. However, when I'm using handcent sms notification, it would not light up. I have turned the trackball light on in the settings, but it does not work. Does anyone else have this problem?

Can I change the LED colors? the pattern? Something!? I know that i can flip it over to silence it.
If it is possible to change the trackball light colour, i read about a guy who swears he had blue the first time he turned his hero on, and after resetting it went back to white,im sure its only white we will be able to achieve.

View 40 Replies View RelatedWith the HTC Magic I rarely use the trackball for anything. My biggest benefit from the trackball is the light flash on certain notifications.
It will blink when you missed a call, have a new voicemail or have a new text message.
Does anyone know if there is a way to change these settings? I would like it to flash on any event in the notification bar (like unread emails).
The sensitivity also seems a little low... are there any apps to increase the sensitivity of the trackball?
On the Nexus One (at least in 2.1-update1, and I think in 2.1), there is a setting under Sound & Display: "Pulse notification light". This doesn't seem to be present on the "2.1 with Google APIs" emulator image. I've not yet checked any other devices. I want to set this programmatically without user interaction, in order to make a Locale plugin, so the device can grab my attention when I'm awake at my desk, without having it floodlighting the room when someone spams me at 4am. It's quite bright.
I didn't see it in android.provider.Settings.System where many other things on this screen live, so I had a look in the platform source. There are some relevant parts in NotificationManagerService, in enqueueNotificationWithTag and updateLightsLocked. That goes off into HardwareService which seems well past the point of caring about user settings. I've no idea where this setting is implemented or how I might influence it. I fully expect the answer to be "there is no API for this" (perhaps related to it being Nexus One specific), and that the best I can do is to schedule (using Locale or something else) an Intent of ACTION_DISPLAY_SETTINGS to remind me to set the box manually, which would suck. I'm hoping that I've missed something, or that a Googler is reading this and can tell me that this is planned for addition to the API?
I am kind of new to the Hero community came from palm pre, is there a setting for the trackball to light up when i get or miss calls, MMS, gchat? If yes where do I go to enable it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI find this extremely annoying that at night when I am using the scroll ball that the thing keeps lighting up, and then shutting off, lighting up..etc.
Is there a way or an app that shuts off the lights to the hardbuttons/trackball?
This is especially necessary in the day time when i can see the buttons, i don't need them illuminated.
When I owned a palm, there was a program call KBlights... shut of the keyboard, hardbutton lights.
Can we set up the trackball light to light up when we receive new emails? as i can only get it to light up on receiving new texts, and phonecalls.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently on my second Eris and I am having problems with my trackball not responding and something screwy with my camera not saving my pictures.
Right now I would rather pay to downgrade to another phone like a BB or even pay full retail value for a completely different Droid because I am afraid if they send me another Eris it is just going to break again.
If I call VZW and talk to them, will they send me another Eris that will most likely to break or will they send me a D1 or an Incredible?
I love my Eris but i just can't use it anymore and i feel like i will keep having problems if they keep sending me refurbs.
Does the little green LED light only blink when you get a message?. Or should it blink all the time? (Swore it was doing it all the time)

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy old phone would turn on, or come out of sleep mode when I received a text message, or any type of alert. Is there a way to make the Droid do that? I leave the phone sitting on my desk and I miss messages all the time because the phone doesn't kick on and I have the volume turned all the way down or off. But if the phone would light up, I would notice that.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is my third Eris replacement, all have had the silent speaker bug. This one has it as well, but now this one has the continuously scrolling left trackball even while not plugged in, making the phone unusable. I have an Incredible ordered, but until that arrives whenever it decides to, I'm stuck using an old LG Chocolate. Any ideas on this? I have had nothing but bad luck with my replacements. Almost wish I could have the original one back, which only had silent speaker intermittently.
