"My uploads" - whatever that is, "Voice Dialer" never works correctly anyway and "Messages" are the other ones. Until Verizon makes Text messages free and or I feel the need to bother somebody with a few poorly typed text messages, instead of using the phone - I would like to get rid of this app that wont shut off!

Anyone know how to store applications on the micro SD card? Hopefully they will be usable.
Got my Eris back in May...love it so far. Rooted w/ 2.2, launcherpro, and running smooth at 768mhz. I've been trying to tweak it to run as quick as possible, and, this morning, deleted my SMS texts to improve performace in Handcent. Worked well, even if I had to clear out all my old texts. No big loss. My question is: since my SMS texts were stored on my phone, does Gmail store all its emails on my phone, as well? I have a few thousand e-mails in gmail (2626 to be precise) and hope not! I wasn't sure how my phone accessed gmail, where it stored data, etc.

What if it's a possible announcement on 2.1 for either the Droid or the Eris or both? Nothing's official yet, at least about what the conference concerns, but two different sources have said this so it looks like it's true. If it is about the iPhone hitting Verizon, they may still weasel in some small tidbits about other stuff, Android included.
View 49 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a way to remove the Amazon MP3 Store application from an Eris? I have root access thanks to Universal 1 Click, but I don't see a way to remove this application. It keeps starting itself and I don't ever use it. While I do use apps on my phone I don't even play music on it.
Using AndExplorer I can navigate to my App folder and see that I can reinstall by clicking on the Amazommp3.apk file, but it won't let me delete that file and there is no uninstall option.
I was wondering if i purchase a app from the market and if i like delete it accidentally or lose the app, if i have to repay to get it back? or i can just re download it again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs a former iPhone user (ugh), I used to frequent sites like appshopper.com to browse new releases of free apps.I found it much easier than doing it on the phone itself (plus, it was a good time-killer during conference calls, etc.)Are there similar online "app stores" for Droid apps out there? A Google search was unsuccessful.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've heard about the 256 mb internal storage, and it sounds like it may limit... how many apps do you all have, and what are the sizes? has anybody gone over the limit yet? What are they doing to fix this problem, or is it not meant to be fixed? These are very important questions, so I can decide whether to invest in the Droid or something else (probably still android os but not sure if it's an android problem)

Now I know Mabilo keeps its own ringtone directory, and I copied over my own folder "Ringtones" to the root directory.
I have Astro file manager installed. Can you use this to move ringtones from certain folders to others or do I have to do this manually via mounting the MicroSD? I had Quark Ringtone app installed for a bit and there's only one tone in there I want before I uninstall can you move files via Astro?
While I realize resources themselves are defined in XML files, if I have an XML file of my own type that I wish to use, should I be storing them in "res/xml"?
Is there a better way to do this such as using assets and then loading them as binary to be parsed by another XML library?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Android application uses a secret key to generate a token for authentication purposes. Is there a more secure way to store this than just putting this in the data store? I think for the iPhone, we store it in the keychain. I am aware of android.accounts.AccountManager, but this seems to give other applications potentially the ability to access the password (if the user selects the wrong option) and so seems less secure.
