HTC Droid Eris :: Syncing Contacts With Calendar
Jul 9, 2010I would like my Contacts' birthdays to show up in my calendar. Is there a way for it to sync automatically or do I have to manually enter them all into my Calendar?

Android :: Contacts And Google Calendar Syncing On My Droid
Dec 17, 2009So, I have been playing around with contacts and google calendar syncing on my Droid, and I love it. I also know that it uses a very small amount of battery.
Looking at Spare Parts and the battery information, google uses MAYBE a minute a day for syncing, which is absolutely nothing.
Anyways, anyone know how often it syncs? Seems to be every 12-24 hours.

Dec 26, 2009I know there are lots of threads about syncing yahoo email to the Droid and I got that to work, but my question is syncing everything else (contacts, calendar etc.) Is there a way to do it? I have had my yahoo email address for years and don't really feel like giving in and switching to a gmail account.

Feb 2, 2010where my calendar would force close several times a day (when syncing). I finally found a solution. I had installed android agenda widget a while back and that was causing the problem. I uninstalled it today, but the problem wasn't fixed until I cleared out the data in my calendar (menu, settings, manage applications, then click on com.android.providers.calendar and clear out the data) and re synced it with google. Just in case you are wondering, I then reinstalled android agenda widget and the problem returned. Uninstalled it again, recleared my data and now it syncs perfectly to my google account.

Jun 2, 2010I just noticed that my Google calendar isn't automatically syncing with my phone despite the fact that I have it set to sync automatically. I enter new appointments on my computer and it isn't until I go in and actually ask the phone to sync that the appointments show up. Anyone else noticed this? Any fix? I've been through all the settings and can't seem to find a setting to set it to sync for specific time intervals (every hour, or once a day, etc.). Anyone else find this setting?

Jul 18, 2010I have all my contacts in my googlemail account. When I go to settings/Accounts & Sync on my Desire, and sync, it seems to sync from the Desire to my googlemail page on my PC, but not the other way round - which is a problem for me because all the correct contacts are on my PC. It also tends to duplicate or even triplicate most of contacts. On the PC there is the merge setting, but not on the Desire. I've tried deleting all my contacts on the Desire, but syncing doesn't repopulate it.
I have all my appointments on my Desire calendar, which seems to only sync from my PC to the Desire. As I enter my appointments on the Desire, and would like to have them on my PC, this, too, is a problem.

Jan 13, 2010When I got my phone replaced the guy at the verizon store didn't wait long enough for my phone to sync contacts, so he took the contacts from the old phone and put them on my new one, then google synced my contacts so I had 2 of them all. I went through and deleted all the doubles, tried to sync a few times and gmail wouldn't change, so I went to gmail and merged all the doubles so everything was perfect, but my phone wouldn't sync the contacts from gmail. So finally I just manually added the ones I needed to my phone.
A few days later gmail finally updated and now has half my normal contacts(only what was on my phone). I saved a backup of my old contacts from gmail, so I can get all my contacts back on my gmail account, but how do i make it so my phone get the contacts from gmail? Basically I want to delete all the contacts on my phone and save the ones from gmail on it, but it seems that the phone is "in charge" by that I mean gmail copys what contacts are in the phone, instead of the phone copying from gmail.

May 2, 2010I can't stand the fact that the Facebook app automatically adds my Facebook friends to my contact list, but they don't show up when I open the People icon, only when I'm choosing the contacts to send or forward a text to.I want to be able to sync the contacts I have with their Facebook profile, but I don't want Facebook automatically adding contacts to my phone.And I can't just diasble auto-sync because there are programs that apparently need it running. The only other option I can think of is to completely remove Facebook from my phone and that's bullsh*t.I know it sounds confusing, but does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this? It woulddn't be such a problem, but now when I go to pick my contacts to forwards to, I have hundreds of contacts instead of the 95 or so I had before.

May 19, 2010Go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications>contacts storage and then delete the data. I backed up my Google contacts on line first by exporting the file just in case. (Not a bad idea anyway, this way you'll have an Excel database with all your contact in case anything should ever happen to your phone). Then resync. It will all go back in without a problem.
I noticed that the file is about 1/2 the size now and I think that's because I didn't sync up all the Facebook data back yet (no photos matching to people, etc.). but I think I'll make sure it all syncs continuously again first, then try adding back in the Facebook info. So far two of the problems were solved by deleting old data (I didn't want to do a factory reset after getting 2.1 just where I wanted it except for the few glitches).
HTC Droid Eris :: Syncing Only Subset Of Google Contacts In 2.1
May 20, 2010I have a long list of Google Contacts and only want to sync a subset of them to my Droid Eris. So, I created a "Phone" group in Google Contacts. Then on my Droid Eris (back when it was running 1.6) I was able to go "People" -> "Groups" -> "Menu" (or something like that) and select the "Phone" group as the only group from Google Contacts that would sync with my Droid Eris. Worked perfectly.
Now, after the 2.1 update I no longer have that option! I thought, "Maybe the option controls migrated somewhere else." I tried going "Menu" -> "Settings" -> "Accounts & Sync" -> "Google" and found nothing there as well. How can I just sync the "Phone" group from my Google Contacts with my Droid Eris which is now running 2.1?

Feb 19, 2010I decided I wanted to delete my gmail account on my Droid Eris and add my primary gmail account. ex. went into managae apps and cleared data for account1 @gmail .com, then I reset up my phone with account2 @gmail.com. I just realized by clearing data, I deleted all of my contacts off of my phone. Luckily I went online and checked account1@gmail.com to see that all of my contacts were still there. How do I get them back onto my phone? Do I need to transfer the contacts from this account to account2@gmail.com? And how do I transfer them? Simply, how do I get my contacts into account2, my primary gmail account on my droid eris, and also back onto the phone?

May 15, 2010I upgraded last night to 2.1 and while I'm annoyed at the superficial loss of settings, what is really annoying me is the automatic sync to google. I don't need my phone to sync my contacts, in fact I'd prefer that it did not.
So, in Settings - Accounts & sync, I unchecked Auto-sync. But I am getting that annoying message in the notification bar all the time that says "Too many Contacts deletes"

Jun 3, 2010Just got my new HTC Desire today and I'm loving it to death!
Just having some issues with syncing my outlook contacts and calendar appointments.
I googled it and followed these instructions: HTC Desire - Using HTC Sync
I used the HTC Sync installer that�s in the supplied microSD card to install but that didn't work so I have downloaded latest HTC Sync But when I get to the next step, "Setting up HTC Sync to recognize your phone" the instructions are:
First of all, step 1. seems pretty pointless coz you go to that part of the phone and don't make any changes. When I get to step 2 I can do what the instructions says but the phone doesn't attempt to find the HTC sync on my computer, it does nothing. I don't get a message saying its unable to find the computer, i can change the setting to HTC Sync and click done and thats all that happens.
Would love some help with this one, I've tried googling but can't find a difinitive answer to this issue.
Here are my details..
1.) Model Number: HTC Desire A8183
2.) Firmware Version: 2.1-update
3.) Baseband Version 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
4.) Kernel Version: 2.6.29-3cb3dfbf

General :: Syncing Contacts And Calendar From Phone Memory To Google?
Aug 6, 2013currently I still have got Sony Xperia X8. I know it's a little bit old but still I want to keep it for few months. Now I'm thinking about rooting it and upgrading it to Android 2.2 or 2.3. All the stuff is stored in the phone's memory. I'd like to synchronize my contacts and calendar events to Google - tried few tricks but still without any result.
It looks like it's not possible to sync contacts which weren't stored as Google Contacts. I need to do the same with my calendar events.
I would really like to keep my data stored in the phone's memory as well as on Google. So I'm looking for sync option. If this is not possible then I'll need to get used to store everything just on Google but first I need to import my data there as well.
How do you sync your data or what solution do you use and why?

HTC Droid Eris :: Android 2.1 / Syncing Contacts From Multiple Gmail Accounts?
May 21, 2010On my Droid Eris (just updated to Android 2.1), I have taken advantage of 2.1 offering support for multiple Gmail accounts. So I have 3 Gmail Accounts in the Gmail app. My question pertains to how Android syncs the contact lists (which include many of the same contacts) from these 3 separate accounts. Will I end up with dozens of duplicate contacts? If so, is there a workaround? Also, is there an easier way to switch between different Gmail accounts? E.g., in the Gmail app, you have to go to Menu then Accounts, which is inefficient. The built-in mail app displays a list of accounts when you open it (an ideal approach), but I would prefer to not open my Gmail accounts in the default mail app.

Jan 21, 2010Has anyone else noticed that an Outlook contact that has a birthday or anniversary date stored within the details, when sync'd to the phone is imported with 1 or 2 days earlier? For example my parents anniversary is stored in Outlook as June 4, 19xx and Outlook adds this to my calendar automatically. After syncing with my Droid Eris the Eris calendar item shows June 3rd. Then when I sync again it shows up in the Outlook calendar on the 3rd and the 4th. This has been going on for quite a while maybe since my 1st sync.

Jan 16, 2010I seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
HTC Eris :: Google Contacts Not Stop Syncing
Oct 5, 2010my google calendar and my gmail sync fine, but contacts gets the spinning wheel that never stops. Is there any way to fix this without rebooting and wiping everything off of my phone? How do you even reboot anyway? Other than this issue (I'm on 2.1, not rooted or anything) everything on the phone works just fine.

Aug 10, 2010I have two gmail accounts. My primary works find on my DX. I have shared my second calendar with my primary and my appointments for both show up fine online, and in my DX calendar list, it says my second calendar is on there, but nothing is showing up. I've tried adding new appointments both on device and computer, but they don't sync for that calendar.
Am I missing something? Or does anyone know of a calendar app that will sync with a second gmail calendar?
