I am going to try taking my eris in to get it exchanged because of the silent phone problem. I am on leak 3. I have some questions first though.
- Will I even be able to have a legitimate complaint if I am on a leaked version?
- Will a new eris come with 2.1 or 1.5?
- if the new eris has 2.1 what are the chances of this happening again?
I cant stand having to reboot to use my phone as a phone.

Is it possible to turn the phone on silent but still have the alarm go off in the morning? I was able to do this with my env touch. I would just set it to "alarm only" for the volume setting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHey everyone, I have a couple of simple questions regarding root. I have never rooted a phone before but I'm sure I can figure it out. I don't need to do anything fancy with my phone but Wifi tethering sounds like it would be worth taking the plunge. I have been following the bugs and fixes thread about the 2.1 leak and the only think that initially kept me from installing the leak was everyone saying that the phone would randomly go completely silent. Does this also happen with the newest root ROM? Also, just to make sure I know what exactly what WiFi tethering is, will I be able to tether my WiFi if I get rooted and set up WiFi tethering?
View 9 Replies View RelatedLast week I downloaded and installed the file for the 2.2 update, the FRG01B or whatever.
Since then:
- I cannot put my phone on silent. It will only go down to vibrate.
- Battery life has diminished. Went from lasting on average I'd say about 26 hours or so to now about 20.
- Some text messages don't go through to people I send to, and some sent to me don't come until much much later.
Now that I'm reading that the actual OTA update that is being pushed out again today is the same as what I forced last week, I'm beginning to consider just going back down to 2.1 so I don't have these issues.
I've looked for an answer through out the forum but did not find one if I overlooked it sorry. But the problem I have is even when I set my phone to silent or vibrate it still has and audible ring. Email and other notifications are silent but the ring isnt. I use home++ and stock home and it does the same thing. I can set it to silent using the stock silent or using ringer widgets. I will try anything, Ive had way to many embarrassing moments with Chris Brown playing during quiet time.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt took 2 days to be shipped but I got it today, a refurb after calling VZW 611 Tech. Line. I had the silent bug issue. Right away the phone was ready for the 2.1 OTA update. I updated, and so far so good, no silent bug issues, and the phone seems to be operating with no issues so far.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure what's going on with my Evo, but all of a sudden it's been deciding to put itself in silent mode for no apparent reason and I'm missing tons of calls because of it. I will turn the sound back on and then all of a sudden it's off after a couple of hours for no apparent reason. I don't want to have to return the phone, but I'm not sure what other options I have at this point. Has anyone heard of this issue?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI talked with a VZW tech just a few minutes ago.I described her the silent bug problem on 2.1.She said she is a Droid user and her daughter has an Eris.She said she had frequent freezeup on her Droid and now she reccomends to do one reboot every day. She says she had not had a problem since she has been doing this.She made a mark on my file about my complain and recommended to try the once-a-day reboot for a week. If the problem persists, the store will issue a new phone.I will try this reboot thing each night, will see how it goes.I am a bit worried about the exchange they perhaps would give me a refurb, and what is the guarantie that I won't end up with the same problem.

I like to put my phone on silent but keep the vibrate on. Does anyone know an app that does this. I'd also like to disable the volume controls at the side of the handset because I sometimes knock this and that turns the ringtone back on. Is this possible.

I want certain people to be able to make my phone vibrate even if I have placed the phone on silent mode. I have tried to use Setting Profiles to do this, by creating a profile (let's call it "Profile1") that turns on notification vibrations. I also created a rule that would activate Profile1 if I received a text message from someone containing the phrase "PING".
But when I test this out, the Profile1 never activates. As I've messed around with the rule, I've also tried having the rule activate based on the receipt of any text message (i.e., leaving the "*" in the contents field), and that does not work either. Any suggestions for those of you familiar with setting profiles, or if you know of another application? I have an EVO 4G.
My phone has a really annoying habit. Every night before I go to sleep. I switch it to silent mode. But if a call or a text message comes through overnight it vibrates. The next morning I find that the phone is now in vibrate mode. I did have Foxy Ring installed, although it was not activated. I wondered whether it could have anything to do with this, but I've now removed it from the phone, but the irritating behaviour persists. Short of turning the phone off overnight, how can I get a quiet night's sleep?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI got my Inc about 2 months ago and at first I thought this was just a fluke, but it's happening all the time. Basically, if my phone is sitting flat on my desk and I get a call, the phone will ring for about a second before going silent. It still vibrates and still wants me to answer the call, but the ringtones have stop.
I even experienced this today driving in to work. The phone was sitting on my leg when I got a call. Same problem. Rang for a second and then silent. If I am holding it or it's in my pocket, it seems to ring without any problems. That "silent ring on pickup" or whatever option in the settings is not selected and I don't believe I have any sort of app installed that controls the volume of the phone.
I've noticed that my notifications were sporadic, both from e-mail and messages. I think I even missed a call once and was surprised because I never heard it ring/vibrate. After some testing I think I've figured out that when the phone is in my pocket, and I'm sitting at my office desk, the phone is face down in that same, fairly flat level position, that turns the ringer off if you flip your phone over on a desk while in a meeting. Is there any way to turn this feature off?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes when my phone is on silent and I turn it off and reboot it, it plays all the start up sounds as its loading. Sometimes, it does not. I hate this, because at work (in a spa) I keep my purse in my cabinet, and I don't love for it to play a bunch of sounds when it is supposed to be on silent. This is the only thing that makes any noise when the phone is on silent, and its only sometimes.
