When I go to "open" the newly downloaded HTC battery widget program it comes back with "will not launch". I uninstalled it ads installed it 4x now, nothing works. Am I doing something wrong?

Which battery widget do you fellow Eris users use? I saw that HTC made one, but I've been using the one that mPippin developed since I got my phone. It's nice that it monitors the battery and lets me turn on/off WiFi, GPS and BlueTooth or change my display options from one press.

Having trouble finding a good battery widget.
I was having major issues with battery drain on 2.1 (second leak) and after reading some threads here I removed the HTC battery widget. This appears to have solved the problem. Apparently the phone was not going to sleep when I had the HTC widget running. The awake time was nearly what the up time was. Without the HTC widget I do not have this issue.
Has anyone ran the Android Battery Widget on 2.1 and does it create the same problem?
Which battery widget drains the battery the least...from your experience?

View 41 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else use this widget? its supposed to tell you down to the minute, what time your phone is going to die. ive been using it since last night, and the conditioning is still stuck on rough. does anyone who uses this widget know how long it should take to condition the battery? it says to fully charge and let it run all the way down, and im trying to do that but im also working on some side projects which requires my phone to be plugged into my laptop and consequently has been charging sporadically since about 2, and im worried that this is ruining the conditioning process.

Honestly, why does a battery widget need to be able to read my bookmarks, browsing history, SMS messages, know my GPS location, yada? Compared to most apps, the thing seems pretty bloated, too - 1.25 Mb?

Now after the OTA on 2.1 my battery life seems to have gone down drastically and I heard that this widget could be the culprit. So, which battery widget are you using with 2.1 that is "safe" on overall battery life?

It's great for a day of snowboarding when you only need the essentials but need the battery to last! The battery was only at 75% by the end of the day for me. Check it out, it's a very high quality and professional app.

These aren't even apps I use, like a Sudoku game I haven't tried once yet. I'm not too worried about it, since performance seems to be fine, but I'm wondering if this will affect battery life.

However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to launch an activity when the button is pressed. Basically, here's the code i have...
What I really want to do, though, is start a new activity, not display a toast message. I know it has something to do with pending intents, but I can't figure out how to get that to work.
I have two contacts in there currently and want to get rid of them and start over. Can't figure out any way to do it. I even went into 'manage applications' and found the widget and cleared the cache and data and the dang thing still shows the same two contacts that I want to get rid of. This widget is pretty useless. Can't put in multiple instances of the same contact (like one for cell and one for home), yet you also can't seem to just set it to take you to their contact info when you click on a person - you have to choose a default.
View 15 Replies View RelatedDecided to give it a try after hearing rave reviews from many. Downloaded Launcher Pro from the market today and it installed but won't open. There's no icon in my app list for it either. I can find it by going to Settings > Apps > Manage Apps but the only option there is to uninstall.
Rebooted and on the homescreen I had an option to use Sense or Launcher Pro so I chose Launcher Pro. The bottom dock was there but some of my previous icons were still on the homepage and I couldn't hold/drag them off the screen? Also, still nowhere to interface the program for options. Am I missing something obvious or what the heck?
I am having a problem with the HTC Weather Widget not updating when I unlock my phone. I click on the widget and bring up the settings and check the "Update Automatically" I get a "Data Warning"- This may result in additional charges from your wireless provider. Enable automatic download of weather data? and I click yes. Yet it wont save and it keeps coming unchecked after I exit the widget. I even tried hitting now and I tried a soft reset.

- I'm running the "Battery Left" widget and I have it displaying "estimated percentage left", "system percentage", and "estimated time left until dead".
- I listen to A LOT of Slacker Radio.
My issues:
- I was previously getting about 19+ hours out of a fully charged battery. 2-3 days ago I started having issues with the widget (I think it may have started when I installed an update to the widget) so I recalibrated it to no avail. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Within a few hours it claimed that it was getting accurate readings (when I first installed the widget weeks ago, it took days to get accurate) and now says that I should be getting 9 hours out of a fully charged battery. I know that can't be right so I'll see how the widget adjusts itself over the next few days, but, any thoughts? (I know a lot of you guys use the same widget and know how it works...)
- Also, In the first two hours of my phone being unplugged this morning, it went from 100% to 70%. I did run Slacker for about an hour and a half of that time, but could it really drain the battery that much that quickly? And I noticed that when I close Slacker, if I go into phone settings, applications, running services - there's still a Slacker update thing running in there. Could that be draining the battery too, even if it's only checking for updates?
- I really don't run a lot of stuff on this phone. I keep wifi and gps turned off. I use bluetooth only a few hours each night. Minimal web browsing. Although, my POP email gets checked every 5 mins (but I just changed it to every 10) and I do use gchat and text a decent amount, but I'd say overall, it's "light" use (except for Slacker which could be a huge drain, right?)
I just bought an Eris and the battery lasts a half day. I am bummed.

My eris battery life last me a full day, but my battery drops to 85% within the first hour after my phone is removed from the charger. The battery than dies slower from that point on. I figure this may be a bad battery or bad meter. Is there a way to calibrate the battery meter?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Eris, just updated on Monday for the lock up from sleep Anyway, I am a low user of the phone and keep, wifi, Mobile data off unless I am using it I have noticed the last 2 days the battery life is improved. yesterday, phone on at 6am off at 11pm, 65% left, no data used, few Txt messages and about 45 min of phone calls Today so far, on at 6am, WIFI, Mobile data off, one 6min call and one txt, at 9am, still 100% battery. turned Mobile Data on at 9am now it is 11:50am and battery is still 100% my on time is 5:45, awake time is 8 min (2%) this is typical for me. I don't have email set to push, I refresh when I want it. I also use Advanced Task Manager. So maybe the issue that was fixed was also causing a battery drain and is fixed now?

Basically, I've got an NFC tag outside my apartment, when I step in, I tag it, and that triggers a tasker profile which does a few tasks:
1) Switch off data
2) Switch on Wifi (and connect to home wifi)
3) Launch Airdroid on phone
4) Launch Chrome on PC and open Airdroid url (this doesn't work!)
5) Launch Foobar2000 on PC (this works)
6) Launch Foobar2000 android controller.
Everything works, except for launching the address in chrome. I can launch chrome just fine, but the url I've set doesn't open. How do I do this?
I lost my phone last night, and I had wavesecure on it, but I haven't been able to locate it or even lock it! but I know the battery was really low. Does wavesecure not work if it's uncharged? Anyway, I'm still on contract, but no insurance. Is there any way to still somehow locate my phone using wavesecure?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy Droid Eris will charge from about 20% to 100% in a matter of 1-3 hours- it's always quite fast! Last night, my phone was at 20% when I went to sleep at about 12am and when I woke up at 6am it was only at 40%. The phone felt very hot. I took it off the charger and put it in another plug. It is now 4pm and the phone is only at 80% and at times feels hot. I checked out the cord and there are no lesions or breaks or any visible problems w/ the cord. I'm not sure what's going on- any thoughts? I'm going to take it to the VZW store to obtain an understanding. It's only been 3-4 months that I obtained the phone.
