HTC Droid Eris :: Icons And Charge Screen

My phone died on me at work tonight. I got in my truck to come home and plugged in my car charger. When I turned on the phone it did the "Connect to pc screen" and I just selected charge only. It has never done this to me before. When I got home I also plugged it into the wall charger and it did the same thing. Also randomly now, the little headset with a microphone icon pops up. I have turned the phone on and off and also pulled the battery but it still does it.

Has anybody figured out how to change icons? For example, I have a web shortcut on my home screen for Google and the default icon for it is a real eyesore.

Hey everyone. Does anyone know of an app that lets you change the transparancy of your on screen icons and has anyone figured out a way to delete shortcuts inside of the bookmark widget? I'm on 2.1 and updated to the newest leaked rom yesterday. I still use the standard browser as well as Xscope and I liked the fact I could edit these but I can't seem to find a way to do that on the newest 2.1.

I just D/L Panda Home.. I love it .. Only problem is.. How do I get the Bluetooth,3GS,Wi-Fi,Gps icons back on my Home screen i cant figure it out Or is there or is there something i need to download while using Panda Home.

My battery keeps on over heating when i charge it. My battery started acting funny this week when i plugged it in to the charger and it would charge stop charge stop continuous. Should i take it up to Verizon and see what they say.

I have been searching all over the place for a good Charging cradle for the ERIS and I think I have finally found one. Amazon.com has this snazzy looking cradle that also supports the charging of an additional battery (for those of us that bought an extra or an extended life battery ). I am definitely going to be getting myself one of these (especially for the less than $20 asking price!)Anyway, click the link and check it out. I was so excited that I had to share. Maybe this will save some of you folks some search time.

First of all, I'm hoping this isn't a duplicate thread. I honestly looked through the first 40-odd pages of threads in hope of not duplicating an existing topic but I gave up. Here's what's up. Got my Eris around the first of April. It worked great, even after the firmware update in May. First week of June I dropped it. It had its silicone case on so the outside glass didn't break but the LCD display inside did. Found an OEM parts supplier, bought a new LCD and installed it with relative ease. What I've got going on now is that the stupid thing won't charge. Took it to Verizon and the chick there tried to charge it with one of their chargers and it still wouldn't work. She had to send me a new battery since they didn't have them in stock there and it came today. I popped it in and it's got a tad more than half life left but it also will not charge.

I finally received my Eris today. So... I rushed home, plugged the phone into the wall, and did the activation. (This was about four hours ago.) My phone has yet to be charged. By far... this has taken way more than any of my other pones. (Then again, this is my first Smart phone.) So... how long does it usually take for the phone to charge?

So I'm running eris 2.1 v3, and I've had a overheating problem since I've taken the leap and stopped using a task killer. Now every single time i charge my phone, it will charge extremely slowly and overheat to as high as 133 degrees. I'm assuming that the problem is apps running after i believe I've closed them (closed by menu->close, or the back button until homescreen) but i thought that the apps end up closing themselves, am i doing something wrong?

I don't know if anyone had this issue, but it takes roughly an hour and a half to get 20% of my battery to charge, on the other hand I lose 50% of the battery life in One Hour. Is my battery Done? or is this a 2.1 v3 Leak? I've shut the phone of completely, and charged the phone. It still takes several hours to recharge. Anybody having this bad of battery with the Leak?

I did this factory re-set last night to try and take care of some pretty bad keyboard lag in the browser and a few other sniggly problems which seem better. BUT now I have a pretty major issue I have never encountered before. When I plugged into a USB on my macbook last night to charge only, the indicator showed it was charging. When I woke up this morning, it said it was still charging and only showed about 75% full. Huh? I thought. That makes no sense. Now I am in a conference, typing and tweeting away on my MB, with my Eris plugged into it and it shows the lighting bolt in the battery but doesn't show the green bar animation in that battery. Instead, it shows just above the level where it would get yellow. The red charging LED is on too.
Then, after about 1.5 hours of this, the screen goes dead. I hold the power button and the phone reboots (so it had been off). Once it goes through the process, I get the message to connect my charger. Not a warning of 10 or 15% battery. Just connect now and a big empty red battery on the screen. I plug it back in and back to a lighting bolt in the battery but no moving green bar, a red LED above that and the trackball flashing white. In other words, now that I've done a factory re-set, I am getting no charge when plugged into my computer. Haven't tried plugging into the wall yet. I will tonight when I get back to my room, but this is not good. Considering the crappy battery life normally, I plug my Eris into my computer when at work in order to keep it full charged all day. It's also shutting off while plugged into my computer! Since first posting at 10:30 AM today, It is now saying it is charging and showing the battery filling animation, but it's been "charging" since then and has not completed. Battery level is about 25% the moment I unplug it (Settings->Battery) and up time and awake time are identical.

I charge it from the wall outlet, my home PC, my work laptop, and also my car cigarette lighter. I kinda feel like they charge at different rates, but I have a hunch that's not true.

This is the second time in the four days I have had the phone that the icons all disappeared and all the original screens have returned the only thing left unchanged was the icon I put a page to turn off the mobile web this is frustrating because I have to drag and drop my icons all over again though I think the first time was right after it upgraded to 2.1 but this time all I did was let it charge overnight and when i woke up they were all gone and the home pages all looked like they did when I first got it. I did try turning it off and back on but they are still gone

I was wondering if someone could direct me to some good custom icons that I could use with Launcher Pro? I don't use the labels on apps so I would prefer icons that are self explanatory (that don't require labels, just images). I was also thinking of using some custom icons I have on my computer. Do I need to resize them? Or will they automatically shrink down to the proper size?

anyone else have this battery charger? and is it taking 8 hours to fully charge the battery? this is crazy. this isnt the exact one i bought, but its the same kind. supposedly mine didnt come from hong kong. if anyone knows of a good battery charger, let me know. My Droid Eris will charge from about 20% to 100% in a matter of 1-3 hours- it's always quite fast! Last night, my phone was at 20% when I went to sleep at about 12am and when I woke up at 6am it was only at 40%. The phone felt very hot. I took it off the charger and put it in another plug. It is now 4pm and the phone is only at 80% and at times feels hot. I checked out the cord and there are no lesions or breaks or any visible problems w/ the cord. I'm not sure what's going on- any thoughts? I'm going to take it to the VZW store to obtain an understanding. It's only been 3-4 months that I obtained the phone.

This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................

on the droid x, i found this to be VERY simple. press and hold the icon, then once it is unmounted slide to left of right. once the green "highlight" appears on that side, the sscreen moves as well as the icon.i had the original droid and dont think it was this easy, though im not sure i ever tried.

Tried to search but couldnt find anything on this.
Here is what is happening with my Droid. I have the official release on my Droid and when I leave and app (Like Dolphin or Handcent) my icons on my home screens take 5-10 secs to refresh and it can take another 5 seconds before my home screen will react to any touches.
Also when I unlock my phone it can take close to 20 secs sometimes (not all the time) for my icons to come in and it takes at least 5 secs no matter what to get my screen to react to any touches.
Is anyone else having this issue? What can I do? Now I almost wish I had never updgraded to 2.2.....

there is a way to edit the text below your icons. For instance I would like my Handcent icon to instead say "messages" below it. Can I do that and if so how? Also on a side note, could someone enlighten me as to what all this UI business is about? Some people talk about using "sense" and some people use something else. What exactly do these user interfaces do and how do people change them?

Anyone know where I can download the default 2.1 icons? I wanted to change my Opera shortcut from the Opera logo to the default Internet icon. I tried to use the SDK and grab the .apk but my phone is not being recognized. I don't know if that is a 2.1 issue or not, but it worked fine with 1.5.

Perhaps this is basic for the experts out there, but how do I get the SportsTap & Scoreboard icons which show your favorite teams/schedules/etc? I've installed both apps, but only get the standard icons: <o> for SportsTap and a 3-2 icon for Scoreboard.

Has anyone else noticed their icons moving around [by themselves] on the home screen? A couple of days ago, the "Phone" icon suddenly appears on the left-most home screen rather than on the center one. Today, I discovered that I had 2 Gmail icons on my home screen. I thought that it was my imagination, but this has happened a couple of other times.
