HTC Droid Eris :: How Time Phone Take To Charge?
Dec 8, 2009I finally received my Eris today. So... I rushed home, plugged the phone into the wall, and did the activation. (This was about four hours ago.) My phone has yet to be charged. By far... this has taken way more than any of my other pones. (Then again, this is my first Smart phone.) So... how long does it usually take for the phone to charge?

May 23, 2010I charge it from the wall outlet, my home PC, my work laptop, and also my car cigarette lighter. I kinda feel like they charge at different rates, but I have a hunch that's not true.

Jun 3, 2010My Droid Eris will charge from about 20% to 100% in a matter of 1-3 hours- it's always quite fast! Last night, my phone was at 20% when I went to sleep at about 12am and when I woke up at 6am it was only at 40%. The phone felt very hot. I took it off the charger and put it in another plug. It is now 4pm and the phone is only at 80% and at times feels hot. I checked out the cord and there are no lesions or breaks or any visible problems w/ the cord. I'm not sure what's going on- any thoughts? I'm going to take it to the VZW store to obtain an understanding. It's only been 3-4 months that I obtained the phone.

May 28, 2010My battery keeps on over heating when i charge it. My battery started acting funny this week when i plugged it in to the charger and it would charge stop charge stop continuous. Should i take it up to Verizon and see what they say.

Jul 6, 2010First of all, I'm hoping this isn't a duplicate thread. I honestly looked through the first 40-odd pages of threads in hope of not duplicating an existing topic but I gave up. Here's what's up. Got my Eris around the first of April. It worked great, even after the firmware update in May. First week of June I dropped it. It had its silicone case on so the outside glass didn't break but the LCD display inside did. Found an OEM parts supplier, bought a new LCD and installed it with relative ease. What I've got going on now is that the stupid thing won't charge. Took it to Verizon and the chick there tried to charge it with one of their chargers and it still wouldn't work. She had to send me a new battery since they didn't have them in stock there and it came today. I popped it in and it's got a tad more than half life left but it also will not charge.

May 7, 2010My phone died on me at work tonight. I got in my truck to come home and plugged in my car charger. When I turned on the phone it did the "Connect to pc screen" and I just selected charge only. It has never done this to me before. When I got home I also plugged it into the wall charger and it did the same thing. Also randomly now, the little headset with a microphone icon pops up. I have turned the phone on and off and also pulled the battery but it still does it.

May 29, 2010So I'm running eris 2.1 v3, and I've had a overheating problem since I've taken the leap and stopped using a task killer. Now every single time i charge my phone, it will charge extremely slowly and overheat to as high as 133 degrees. I'm assuming that the problem is apps running after i believe I've closed them (closed by menu->close, or the back button until homescreen) but i thought that the apps end up closing themselves, am i doing something wrong?

Jun 2, 2010I don't know if anyone had this issue, but it takes roughly an hour and a half to get 20% of my battery to charge, on the other hand I lose 50% of the battery life in One Hour. Is my battery Done? or is this a 2.1 v3 Leak? I've shut the phone of completely, and charged the phone. It still takes several hours to recharge. Anybody having this bad of battery with the Leak?

May 20, 2010I did this factory re-set last night to try and take care of some pretty bad keyboard lag in the browser and a few other sniggly problems which seem better. BUT now I have a pretty major issue I have never encountered before. When I plugged into a USB on my macbook last night to charge only, the indicator showed it was charging. When I woke up this morning, it said it was still charging and only showed about 75% full. Huh? I thought. That makes no sense. Now I am in a conference, typing and tweeting away on my MB, with my Eris plugged into it and it shows the lighting bolt in the battery but doesn't show the green bar animation in that battery. Instead, it shows just above the level where it would get yellow. The red charging LED is on too.
Then, after about 1.5 hours of this, the screen goes dead. I hold the power button and the phone reboots (so it had been off). Once it goes through the process, I get the message to connect my charger. Not a warning of 10 or 15% battery. Just connect now and a big empty red battery on the screen. I plug it back in and back to a lighting bolt in the battery but no moving green bar, a red LED above that and the trackball flashing white. In other words, now that I've done a factory re-set, I am getting no charge when plugged into my computer. Haven't tried plugging into the wall yet. I will tonight when I get back to my room, but this is not good. Considering the crappy battery life normally, I plug my Eris into my computer when at work in order to keep it full charged all day. It's also shutting off while plugged into my computer! Since first posting at 10:30 AM today, It is now saying it is charging and showing the battery filling animation, but it's been "charging" since then and has not completed. Battery level is about 25% the moment I unplug it (Settings->Battery) and up time and awake time are identical.

Jul 19, 2010This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................

Jun 29, 2010I've searched the forums and cant find an answer or reason, but my phone wont charge either through the wall charger or through my computer.I plug it in and it says plug in your charger, and the light wont turn on. My computer says that the phone is unrecognized. This all came about yesterday when I flashed BB V.3.Froyo. I was running chevys 1.2Ghz kernel with every other rom and have had no issues. I tried a recovery, and switching kernels, and even pulling the battery but nothing has seemed to fix the issue.

Jul 18, 2010For all of you having battery issues (lasting only a few hours, etc) I think I've found a fix. Yestarday my phone was dead after only being on for about 6 hours. I got home about 10 hours after it died. I left it plugged in for about 2.5 hours until it said "Charged". *Note* First it said "100%" but took about 40 minutes until it said "Charged". That was about 10 PM last night. I ran some movies on it for 3 hours with Full Brightness on. I went to bed without plugging it in. This morning I did another 2 hours of movies. It said 50%. After rebooting it said 60%. Another 42 minutes of movie watching, reboot, still says 60%. Conclusion: If you completely discharge your phone then let it charge full without touching it during the charging it seems to fix the battery.

#2- Are you putting it on the charger when the warning pops up that your battery is almost dead?
#3- Are you putting it on the charger when ever you get a chance to give it a charge.
How long are you letting it charge for?
#1- Are you letting it charge to 100% with the (check mark) before you remove it?
#2- Are you letting it charge all the way through the night? (so like for 6-8 hours while your sleeping)
#3- Are you pulling it off before 100% and if so do you do that every once in a while or all the time.
This is my first smart phone so I am trying to figure out how everyone else does it. I have had the phone for 2 days now and have already downloaded the new OTA update. So with me being on it pretty hard core I am getting about 15 hours of battery life. I think that is really good. But I let the phone die all the way and shut itself off before I put it on the charger and I pull it off right when it says 100%. Is that bad? Should I not let it die every time and should I let it charge longer even though it says 100%?

Oct 6, 2010I bought 2 spare BP6X batteris and a Motorola OEM P323 Charger for my Droid. Does anyone know why my Droid says the battery is fully charged, 100% (with cord attached), then if I put it in the charger the red light stays on and it charges for another 30 minutes? The app battery status pro (new) also shows a higher voltage when said battery is re-inserted into the phone.
