Just wondering if any of you purchased the extended warranty or the assurion plan from verizon.I personally felt that I was best not to get the $7.99 a month plus $90 to make a claim. But what did you do or how do you feel about these additions to the plan?

first off, let me say "Hi". got my Eris about 3 months ago and been lurking ever since . i've enjoyed reading just about every single page of all the stickied threads -fascinating stuff. you all seem pretty Knowledgeable (OTD, Caddyman, etc) and look forward to reading you thoughts on this. Here's the scenario:i have an Eris and my girlfriend has an EnV2 she will soon be upgrading to the Incredible. she suggested we swap phones once she gets the Inc, since she doesn't really need all that extra fancy stuff -i reluctantly agreed so yesterday, just for kicks, i brought this up to a store tech and she said that wouldn't be a problem, but once the phone comes off the original account it was activated on, the manufacturer voids the 1-year warranty ergo i wouldn't have a warranty on the Inc, nor would she have one on the Eris post swap. does this sound crazy, or is it just me? secondly, would it really be as simple as i imagine? just swapping phones & switching ESN's on our respective accounts once her Inc is activated?

I went to install my apps and my purchased apps aren't listed in My Downloads.According to the help for Market I should perform a factory reset. Dutifully reset the phone, signed in and still no apps.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI searched this forum for an hour and couldn't find an answer. I've had my like new warranty replacement phone for two days and it seems to be perfect in every way. No dead pixels, even. The OTA went on as soon as I activated it. I have the 50% bug, of course. My first phone easily and automatically installed on Windows XP SP3 as both a storage device and something like an ''Android USB Composite Device''. This new one will not. Works fine as removable storage, but not the other. Both PDANet and Easy Tether seem to require that. My computer recognizes it only as ''ADB'' and will not install any drivers. I assume I must remove the old phone to install this one, but I can't find it in the device manager or anywhere else.

Personally I am not really sure that I need one, but at the same time, a little extra juice is always a welcomed option for a smartphone especially when you are a heavy user.That said, it seems that Seidio has two options available, a 1750mAh and a 3500mAh which are selling for $49.95 and $69.95 respectively.The main difference here, aside from the 3500 offering more juice (and being more expensive) is that the 1750 model was designed to fit with the original battery cover. And that means no extra thickness. The 3500mAh battery on the other hand will add some extra thickness, though its said to only be 3-4mm. The nice part here is that this battery does come with the replacement back cover.

So now im looking for a extended battery cover for it that has the same type of camera eye as the factory.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the whole rooting scene but everything seemed to go flawlessly following the 1.5 to latest root directions, but after rooting my purchased apps are no longer shoing in the downloads section of the marketplace. . I ran a search for the app and the pro version (Tapatalk) isn't even showing anymore, just the free version. Just out of curiosity I followed the directions to revert back to 1.5 stock and upgraded back to the OTA 2.1 and the app shows up again. Anyone had this issue before or know of a fix fo rit?

I have a Zio and it suits me fine. I do not care about the next Android release, I just want to do what I need to do. That said, when I download from the market, I am presented with a list of things the software has access to. Location, SD Card, Passwords, email address, and the list goes on and on. I am not telling most of you anything you do not allready know.
My question is this: how are we protected from apps that are designed to take this info and use it in a nefarious manner? Again, I am not an expert. I am not paranoid, just curious. We all have PCs. We all know about virus issues, pishing scams, bots, trojans, scams, etc. Seems to me, the last thing we would accept is software that gathers copious quantities of sensitive data; we do, so it seems, accept it from developers of applications that we freely DL from the market.
Ok so I know if you Root you phone you lose your warranty. But is there a way to unroot and would that get your warranty back? How would Verizon know that I Rooted my phone?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI currently have the droid and have had to do a factory reset several times for trying out different programs and unfortunately been stuck on a force closure loop. When I did the factory reset google had all of my purchased apps saved, I had to re-download them all of course. I'm pretty sure that it would transfer over to a new phone but that is only an assumption, I was hoping one of you guys with waaaaaaay more tech and computer smarts would be able to confirm this for me.

For example, yesterday i took a picture on a trip, and on the ride home, went to look at the picture in my gallery, and under the picture it read Dayton, Ohio. It knew where I took the picture!

1. I want to root my phone so badly. Im afraid of it bricking though. But the thing is, ive done a lot of research, and it seems bricking hardly ever happens. I want to overclock and i really want some kick ass ROMS! Should i do on pc or my pro?
2. My screen, when closed, when you tap on the screen near the lower left corner, the screen taps. Like the screen is loose. I wanna take it to verizon. But i wanna root. But i want my warranty still usable.
Does anyone know if there's anyway to backup purchased apps before doing a factory reset. I've gone a bit crazy with apps on my Droid and its slowed down quite a bit. I'd like to do a reset and restore some of my purchased apps that I still want around...

I should "root" my Droid X phone, something ive not heard of before -
1) does this void the manufacturer warranty, or the $6/month im paying for verizon accidental damage warranty
2) is there a way to restore the original settings on the phone, ie make it like the root never happened if i need to? so i dont lose warranty?
I love my Droid X and I get awesome battery life under the right conditions. Using Tasker extends this even further, but even without a tasker profile today, I unplugged at 8am and at 4pm I was at 80 percent with moderate usage. This was after doing a full cycle charge last night. However, I'm greedy for more and I want to buy the extended battery but not sure where I can find it for a good price.
