View 4 RepliesIf i place the Widet that covers up the whole screen called Stocks by Yahoo. Then click it to open it I can add a stock or index. However, right under that text it says *This service may result in additional charges from your wireless provider. It's Yahoo Finance Stocks which comes with the phone. Anyone know if it cost extra money to use? Also if I go into settings/wireless controls/mobile network settings/ data roaming (connect to data services when roaming) and check that does it cost extra money to use 3G when the phone is roaming? Do you guys have "enable always-on mobile" (uses more power on some mobile networks) checked?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a factory reset last week after reading some of the posts about it here. I had some lag issues, and the Verizon tech also suggested that. I also did the *228 tip to reprogram the phone as was suggested. It was OK for a few days, but I'm having similar problems again. Before I go to Verizon, I thought I'd list them here and see what you good folks thought.
1) I still get terrible lag from time to time, and at all different times. I know that when I'm trying to do something with the battery low (under 25% lets say), its slow, but I chalk that off as understandable.
2) Sometimes when I send a text message out, I see that it takes at least 5 minutes to get sent. During this time, I do notice that time in the notification bar is anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes behind. Then, after a few minutes, catches back up to be in sync with the time shown on the HTC Sense widget on my home screen. BTW, that frozen time has occurred when the phone is just sitting there, not necessarily during a text message being sent, so SOMETHING is bogging it down.
3) Sometimes, and this has been increasing over the last few days, when I try to type something, either in a text message or in someone's contact info, I get the text box up and the virtual keyboard, but no text shows up at all when I'm typing. I see the characters that pop up, but nothing ends up in the text box. I have to exit out of that app and try again later. Very frustrating when you're trying to text someone and you have to wait 5-10 minutes to do it.
4) I know about the battery issues and how poor the battery life is. I've tried to remedy that by only checking my email, Twitter, and Facebook once per hour, but my battery still drains pretty fast. Today, for example, I took the phone off of the charger @ 7:30am. It was at 28% left @ noon! Granted, some of the issues that I describe above were going on and probably had a lot to do with that (clock lagging behind, texts taking 5 minutes to go out), but still, almost 75% of the battery gone after only 4 hours SUCKS! I've done the usual remedies (power the phone down then back on; battery pull; factory reset last week, etc.). It seems to help for a very short period of time but reverts back to the problems I describe above. So, is a trip to Verizon in my future? If they replace it, is a refurb acceptable to get? I've read varying stories ranging from "my refurb works like a charm" to "my refurb has the same issues as my old phone". I don't want to inherit the same problem, or someone else's problem. Am I basically stuck here until my "new every 2" is up in November 2011?
Just wondering if the 1.5-2.1 root is worth switching phones with my girlfriend. Any and all opinions appreciated as usual, but please, only if you ACTUALLY have root .

I use astro because it is faster than the free version of titanium and froyo never seems to reload all of my apps for some reason.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWith new apps coming out all the time now I thought the forum could use this Thread. Just found and downloaded BUZZDECK app. This is a app that kinda makes a lot of individual apps obsolete because they can all be in this app. Buzzdeck updates you on subjects such as Technology, celebrities, news ,funny stuff etc. It also allows you to add your own cards like every and any social networking sites. Its in beta and its free. I love it already, check it out. Add your finds here.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI haven't paid for any apps yet though I have bought smartphone apps in the past, plenty actually (former Crackberry user). The thing that I love about the Android platform is that there's so many choices for anything you can think of in terms of everyday use and the free versions are actually good and well maintained.
With that all said and done, what are some apps for the Motorola Droid that you feel are worth my money? So far I've considered a few...
1. Beautiful Widgets (Love the clock look + it has weather which I like and toggle buttons for wi-fi/gps/etc)
2. Abduction (free version is fantastic so just to support the developer I'm considering getting the paid version)
3. GDE/Dxtop, haven't decided which I want, but I will be trying them out individually before I decide on a purchase, the moto droid forum seems pretty split on which is better/more stable.
Ok. First things first, I am simply in love with my Droid. I learn new things everyday. For example, yesterday i took a picture on a trip, and on the ride home, went to look at the picture in my gallery, and under the picture it read Dayton, Ohio. It knew where I took the picture!
Anyways enough of my droid love, i've got some questions for you droid gurus.
1. I want to root my phone so badly. Im afraid of it bricking though. But the thing is, ive done a lot of research, and it seems bricking hardly ever happens. I want to overclock and i really want some kick ass ROMS! Should i do on pc or my pro?
2. My screen, when closed, when you tap on the screen near the lower left corner, the screen taps. Like the screen is loose. I wanna take it to verizon. But i wanna root. But i want my warranty still usable.
Before I can come to Android, I need a money app that I can sync with my PC. I can fine none!! Do you know of any?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a financial app that will sync with microsoft money. Something like Ultrasoft Money. I used that on my windows mobile phone and it synced flawlessly and effortlessly. I know there are other financial programs out there that will allow you to keep a checkbook on your phone, but I don't want the checkbook solely on the phone, I want it on the desktop too and microsoft money is already there and works great. Some of these other apps out there will sync with ms money if you download the file in this format to your sd card, hold your tongue to the top of your mouth, move the file to the computer via USB, move your tongue 90 degrees to the north, change the file format and then import it from within money. well, you get the idea. I don't want to have to do all that.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was just looking at my Verizon Plan, and though I don't have it currently as an option that I'm paying for, it costs $20 a month to use the 3G Hotspot feature? I thought this was just something the phone did through your unlimited data plan. if the 3G Mobile Hotspot app does indeed require this $20 a month charge, and whether there's any other app or way to get the same functionality without paying.

Is it possible to play palm pilot games on an android? I would assume it wouldn't be too difficult since they both use touch. I wouldn't care if it didn't fit my whole screen. There are some games that I really want to play again (Space Trader, Strategic Commander (does anyone know of another game like this)).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been enjoying my evo so far with one huge complaint. I don't think wimax 4g is even worth having right now. First it is a battery hog, and second building penetration is terrible....i stay on wifi most of the time but when I do turn 4g it just doesn't am practical. Another thing is that sprint is really advertising this as a 4g phone but for the normal customer I would think they would beupset that their signal isn't reliable...well the point of this thread its to see how everybody else feels about wimax. And for those who want to call me a troll you can check my history.
