I just rooted my eris using froyo v34. i can't figure out how to install setcpu that i downloaded from xda. when i went to the application settings i cant check the box allow non makert apps. how else do I install it?

I followed the instructions (wiped out my sd card) and completely reset the phone to factory settings, put the file on the sd card, Volume down + the Power key and I get the 3 skater androids but no option to install the new os. I have limited time online (pdanet, and am a Truck driver so NO SIGNAL a majority of the time)
View 23 Replies View RelatedI have a stock Eris and the other day my sdcard went corrupted. I learned this from when I got the new swype beta email and went to download the .apk. It told me a sdcard was required (I had never taken the sdcard out of the phone to being with). Anyways I brought it to verizon and the guy said it was done and gave me a 16gb card (8 was in there previously). So now I was able to download the .apk file; however when I try to click on it to install it says I can't because there is not enough space on Phone.
Now I don't know how much for it is required. But I have 14gb on the card available and 25mg on the internal phone storage. Now since uninstalling swype and trying to download I haven't added any more apps that would take up additional space. I've actually uninstalled a few, so I should have more space than I did before this whole thing started.
Is it possible to do the leaked 2.0 without having a card reader? Anyone have it set so you can do it with the USB cable?
View 11 Replies View RelatedJust manually upgraded to the 2.1 OTA from stock 1.5. Did a factory reset prior to upgrade. Everything seems to be working fine except that I get this error message when trying to install any app:
Installation error: Insufficient storage available
When I check the phone storage settings I see this:
SD Card: 7.39GB total space - 7.27GB available space
Internal phone storage: 136MB
Also, I'm noticing that the "Format SD Card" option is greyed out.
So I saw that Droid commercial showcasing some popular apps and noticed a skype app. I've searched for it many times before and just though that there was no skype app on the android market, but apparently there is. Whenever I search for it I can't get it to come up though. Anybody having this problem or know of a fix?! I did the manual install of 2.1 a few months back btw, in case that makes a difference.

I was in the habit of installing multiple applications from the market before rebooting, but started having problems with the phone not working and getting other error messages so I now try to reboot after each install. I just tired to install and run advance task killer (ATK) twice and after each reboot I'd get at least 2-3 errors. If I uninstall it and reboot all seems to be ok. Same happened with Bloo and an AK-47 app (game).

I tried the (Google ?) keyboard available from the market (AnySoftKeyboard) but didn't like it.

I got an email this morning about the release of a new swype beta. I followed the directions and when I try to change inputs an error message pops up stating the screen resolution doesn't match. Anyone get this email and the error? I made sure I uninstalled my previous swype before installing the new one.

No dead pixels, even. The OTA went on as soon as I activated it. I have the 50% bug, of course. My first phone easily and automatically installed on Windows XP SP3 as both a storage device and something like an ''Android USB Composite Device''. This new one will not. Works fine as removable storage, but not the other. Both PDANet and Easy Tether seem to require that. My computer recognizes it only as ''ADB'' and will not install any drivers. I assume I must remove the old phone to install this one, but I can't find it in the device manager or anywhere else.

Some searching turned up a similar issue on other HTC devices on another carrier, something about an OS foot print? Is there a way to get around this? It's pretty obnoxious.
