HTC Droid Eris :: ADW Launcher

I came across this new launcher today called ADW and it is now pretty stable since it is free in the market place (was only available for rooters before). Its pretty similar to froyo
After tweaking with some of the settings I have gotten the speed to be VERY close to that of LauncherPro Beta
Battery life seems MUCH better than LauncherPro. Mine was last unplugged 16 hours ago and I am at 75% with moderate txting and web browsing.
FOR PEOPLE HAVING TRUBLE WITH THE SETTINGS: I have found settings that work WELL for me. These settings make this thing FLY for me!
Desktop Scrolling Speed: 374
UnCheck Live Wallpaper SUpport
Desktop Overshoot: 39
Drawer Zoom Effect Speed: 401 (the only thing in the launcher that needs work.)
Uncheck new drawer
Check animated drawer
Check fast drawer
This launcher has SO MANY CUSTOMIZABLE FEATURES!
This is not as speedy as LauncherPro Beta but this is just starting out and should get faster!
Check it out very cool! Oh and it has a setting to remove the labels from the icons!

I've done searches on the market, used the barcode on websites, and tried through appbrain, but I can't seem to find it in the market to download. Am I the only one? Can someone share the latest version of the apk file to download? That is possible since its free, right? I don't want to be out of line...

Hello everyone, my names Nick, and I just wanted to ask a few questions. Back in february my wife and I bought 2 droid eris'. Now, we're very happy with the phones. Before these we had samsung delves. So these are night and day with quality. But as most anything, things get bigger and better. Of course the new droids out, it kind of makes the Eris, an outcast it seems. So we've been playing around with a few launchers like launcherpro and adw launcher. So far we both like the launcherpro, and might upgrade to the plus for the widgets. Does anyone with launcherpro plus, possibly tell me what other features you get buy purchasing this app? And my last question is about rooting. What exactly does it do for your phone? Thank you all!

Installed Launcher Pro and love it.Extremely fast on my phone.The only problem I am having is that I do not get e-mail notifications for Yahoo or Hotmail.Handcent notifications work fine.As soon as I switch back to Sense, the notifications show up.Any ideas why this happens in Launcher Pro.I want to use it, but if I cant get e-mail notifications it is a no deal.

I just purchased the Launcher Pro as this blows the old HTC Sense out of the water.However, I used to have a Photo Album widget when using the original HTC Sense UI.In this widget you could simply swipe your finger up or down on the widget and it would scroll to the next photo.Now that I'm running Launcher Pro I cannot find the Photo Album widget anywhere. I tried out the Photo Gallery widget but it doesn't have the swipe feature.
Anybody know if there is a way that I can get the old Photo Album widget to work on this or a possible alternative?

So I know it's possible to install the 2.1 genie weather app and the Nexus gallery app on Eris 2.1. But is it possible to install the Nexus launcher on Eris 2.1? I'm not talking about some janky imitation that sort of looks like it, I mean the real thing. I'm talking about this:

I am working on a new layout for my UI and I am running into an icon issue. I am using LauncherPro and I want to use a different icon for actual app launcher. The icon I want to use is actually a bookmark icon for ING Direct (it is a small, orange circle). The only way I can get it to work is if I modify the settings to "swype up" for application launch. Unfortunately, if I press the icon I am taken to the ING direct website. Is there a way to pull the icon out of my phone somehow in order to use it as a 'custom icon'?

No not the OTA. My Helix Launcher decided to force close ALOT. Back to back. I rebooted my phone to no avail. I pulled the battery and nothing was fixed. I tried to pull the app drawer and select the Uninstaller app, but it would force closed before I could open it.
Then I had a revelation: I have the Market as one of my shortcut apps on my Helix dock. I opened it up and went to my downloads, and opened the Uninstaller app. Uninstalled Helix, and now I am good to go.
I tried to switch from 5 screens down to 3 and it all started.

LauncherPro hides the dialer button that you get in stock Froyo, and when I hit the Call button, it pulls up call history. Is there a way to change what comes up when I hit the call button? The only sense feature i miss is the dialer (minus the lag). I hate having to hit the search button or scroll through the list to find the contact I want to dial.

I have rooted my phone, tried to partition sd card although not to sure that it took since I could not get a reading on my computer, flashed xtra rom 3.0.3, was running Launcher pro and all was hunky dory although I could not get any find any of my apps. I ran a restore from My Back up and restored my apps which in turn also restored Launcher pro (again).I am now stuck in a force close loop of Launcher pro after rebooting. I have done a hot battery pull and still am stuck.

I'm running xtr 4.0.6.1 with LP Pro. Really like the setup and especially the dock at the bottom from LP. I have Phone, Mail, App Drawer, SMS, and GMail on my dock. I spend 80% of my time there in the Mail app as my Eris is primarily a work device for me, and my company uses Exchange. My issue is this, under Menu > Preferences, there are settings to turn on notification for Unread Gmail, Unread SMS, and Missed Calls. These notifications are down on the dock, not in the top notification bar. It's nice to have those three, but what I really need is the notification for Unread Mail (like the Sense icon has). I've been bouncing around the Launcher Pro website and came across somebody asking for exactly the same thing. In post #5 a user talks about using SDK to code it in manually via adb, and he's even provided the code. Can mere mortals like me do something like this? I'm curious to hear what the good and bad to this would be.

Ok so i just rooted my eris, and got it to the eris21official-root, there are a few things that i really want and i was wondering if i have to do an add or what to make these work from here.
-Live wallpapers
-Nexus launcher
-a better looking photo gallery viewer, im stuck at the stock crap one
-a better music player same reason as above
-and last is a better lock screen, i really liked the one that had the slient button and the lock on the same dial and it was just which way you spun it

I just updated my launcher pro beta.. it is now version 18..according to settings applications.so now when i press home it just goes to my original launcher and doesn't even prompt me as to what i want my default to be.i have a milestone and i'm rooted! but help. i hate the stock launcher!

I have ADW launcher & Launcher pro installed but i can't seem to find them in the apps menu. If i push home it used to show all three launchers( adw,LP & sense) but now my home button only shows my scenes.

I downloaded Launcher Pro a few days ago and am loving it. As most of you know that after downloading it, pressing the home button gives you the option of which home screen launcher that you want to..well.. launch..either HTC Sense or Launcher Pro. Well this morning I picked Launcher Pro, but accidently clicked the "don't ask me this again" box before that, so now I'm stuck on Launcher Pro and can't get back to my, or any, HTC Sense launcher. I've gone all through my settings and can't figure it out. I'd like to either get back to my old HTC Sense home screen, get to the DEFAULT HTC Sense homescreen, or get back to being able to have the option to pick which one I want to launch.

I've been using LP for about a week (it's great BTW!) and this just started to happen so it could have something to do with the latest update. I've set LP at the default launcher and everything works great. However, if I ever long press the "home" button, go to an application, then press "home" again I get the popup asking me which launcher I want to use. I check the "set as default" box then select LP and everything is good again. It all works until I long press home the next time, then the remembered default is gone and I get the prompt again. I've tried rebooting, clearing defaults, etc.

Which is best launcher for Captivate? which can help in saving my battery used by display (around 50-60%)
I used ADW for a while, but when I am on ADW my notification bar get vanished. I dk how..so i switched to launcher pro. I had a random shut down once, so now I am thinking it because of Launcher pro.
Is there any launcher (other then default one) which can be problem free and have good interface? Or I should wait for the Latest and cleanest version of launcher pro (the developer is writing it from scratch)
Hows is helix? anybody used it. HTC sense? can we use on captivate? Zeam launcher?

I did do a search, but didn't find anything. I had been running Cyanogen's latest 5.0.5.3 I had also been using Ultimate Droid 8.1.1. I had decided to flash to UD from CM. I used ROM Manager. I had been using the Helix 2 launcher with UD. I decided to try the launcher2, so I checked that. The whole process ran apparently normally. Except it did lock up at the cache backup stage at the dalvik cache backup. I had to pull the battery and re do the ROM download from ROM manager. However, when the screen pops up after all of the boot antimation cycle, and you unlock, there is an immediate launcher2 force close. I can get to nothing in the phone. I do have the entire contents of my sd card on my laptop, which has all of the backups on it, not including this latest one.Power off and hold the X key does not work, so I can't get to reboot recovery that way. Multiple power off and battery pulls did nothing. Another point is that I had been able to download UD only if I checked AdamZ's 1.0 low voltage overclock kernel. I would get ROM download error with ANY of the other kernel choices. I tried this after the ROM Manager update I found tonight. This time I checked Chevy's 1.25 low voltage, and the process seemed normal, other than the lockup during cache backup noted above. However UD had been running just fine when I had used it. S

helix launcher 2 now works on android 2.1. Do not buy clockworkmod launcher. The link is Donators' Repo Home.
Step 1:EDIT EDIT EDIT Click the download link and rename .php to .apk.
Step 2 Download the beta on your phone.
Step 3: Go into astro and find the download in your downloads file. Step 4: install and whalah.
It wont let you install it directly from the downloads page for some reason. Dont set as default your first time incase of FC loop.

I have helix launcher(the first one) and I wanted to get 5 screens instead of three so I went to configure it and took off all my widgets like it told me to do. It restarted and I got a FC notification. It's set as my primary home and I can't get the message to stop popping up. I tried restrting my phone several times but before I can press the home button or any button the message pops up again and there is nothing I can do. Is there anything I can do to get past this FC notification?

I have been having troubles keeping my launcher (tested both ADW and LP) open in the background while doing most things. Sometimes it will stay open while I switch through a couple apps, but a lot of times I will literally hit the Engadget widget to read one article, 20 seconds later hit home and it will redraw the whole desktop and I wont be able to do anything for 5-10 seconds. It does this a lot. I very rarely have FC's with an error message, probly gotten 1-2 in the past 5 days I have been on this ROM, but it seems like the system has just killed the launcher and it has to reload everything, almost everytime I hit the home button.
There is some general info, here are my questions:
1. Does this happen to everyone and I just need to deal with it or use stock launcher2?
2. I have messed with the memory settings and tried many different combinations, is there one people have found works well with the Droid? Does this make a big difference?
3. Does using the market version of these launchers (which I am) matter? Would it be better to install them some other way, push them somewheres with ADB?
4. Is this a purely memory based issue? I was letting the BB task manager do it's job, problem was happening, then tried Advan. Task Killer with auto-kill on and off, problem still happened.
