I fully charged the phone over night and unplugged it at 10 am. 4hrs of pandora streaming (3hrs on 3G and 1hr on WiFi). 30 mins of web surfing, 30 mins playing with maps and checking traffic.
Downloaded 2 dozen games and apps. Finally got low battery warning around 9:30 pm. so 11.5 hrs of use. but i was sweating the last hour while coming back from work. It'd be nice if seido sells some extended 1750 MaH battery.

I've read several threads and still am not 100% clear. At home and at work, I have FULL 3G service (still no 4G in my area). If I turn on my WiFi at both places, will it use less battery? Particularly at work when get 50-100 emails during the day?

I am Using 02, and before on my old ericson, you could do setup a template with *0# at the begining of every message to do a Delivery Report (lets you know that the recipient got the text by texting you back automatically) so everytime you wrote a new msg you could use that template with one click... Is this possible to tag every outgoing SMS with *0# automatically or setup templates? Otherwise how using 02 can I get a delivery report (normal setting for delivery report dont work for 02)

- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- "Use wireless networks"
- Gmail/Email pull and Auto-sync (but leave the "Background data" on)
- "Enable GPS satellites"
- Weather update
- "Enable Always-On mobile" (but leave the "Mobile network" ticked)
- and let Twitter/Facebook to automatically update only once/twice a day.
Still the battery was draining very fast. The only thing I did not turn off is the 3G. Yesterday I decided to switch to 2G and replace the built-in SMS with Handcent SMS. To my very surprise, the battery life improves greatly. I will now do a test to see how fast it drains. I have just fully charged the unit and will update it here once I get the result.
I figured I would throw my 2 cents in on my battery performance. I was mildly disappointed after the first week of use with my phone. It was without a doubt worse than my old iPhone 3g. I expected this due to larger screen, running widgets, ect. so I am not complaining. However, a couple days ago I downloaded the Set CPU app from the marketplace and set it to minimum every time the screen turns off. The difference is amazing, I have not charged since 7:30am yesterday and just now at 340 I plugged it in, it was around 5% left.
I really wanted to push it and see how much more I could get but I don't want it to die on me tonight, im going to a baseball game so I don't want to be stuck without it.As far as usage, I spent about 45 talking over bluetooth, I have sent about 15 texts and received about the same. I checked Twitter a few times, for a few mins each time. Spent about an hour browsing web, and downloaded a couple apps from the market. Before this I was charging my phone after an 8 hour day at work and had almost no juice left. YMMV but for me this has been well worth the 2 bucks.
I'm thinking of getting the aria as a "weekend" phone in addition to my blackberry that I use mainly for work. Would everything work fine if I just take the sim out of my BB and put into the aria?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI lost my battery cover (or someone stole it) from my birthday party. I cannot seem to find one online. I called HTC and they dont have one available, but maybe I got the wrong rep? I called ATT and they were no help. There is an HD Mini (somewhat of the same phone) battery cover on eBay but it doesnt have the metal connections since the battery cover of an Aria is part of the antenna. Please help me find one! Even if I have to buy an extended battery (with battery cover) so be it. I just need my phone back.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to brag a little about my Aria.I have had it for almost two weeks now and I love it! I was a bit worried at first about the battery life.It seemed to deplete quickly.It was barely lasting a whole day. And that was with moderate use. I think a lot of that was due to the lack of signal where I work. It really drains the battery.I noticed the last couple of days the battery life getting better. I checked the battery monitor and it shows that I have been unplugged from the charger for 2 days and still have at least half my batter left.That is with moderate use. I set it so that everything is not always syncing. I think that helps a lot. Anway, I just wanted to share since there seems to be a lot of talk about the poor battery life. So far I've been impressed and happy with my little Aria!
View 4 Replies View RelatedBattery Left was the first thing I installed on my phone when I got it. My battery life has been terrible so I've been trying to track down the problem. I woke up today, unplugged my phone and didn't touch it for an hour. Battery Left says I have 70 percent left but the battery meter in the status bar showed full. I uninstalled battery left and installed Battstatt and it shows 90 percent (2 hours later). Anyone else have problems with battery left? I hope this fixes my battery problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI usually charge my phone overnight, so plug it in and let it charge until i get up on a morning.However I'm noticing when I unplug it, the battery drops almost instantly to between 96 and 91%. I'm thinking this is a case of overcharging? Its just happened to me now, so I've turned the phone off, let it charge and as soon as the orange light turns green I'll unplug it and turn it on and see what happens.Anyone else any experience of this? I want to charge overnight, but if its going to give me a worse battery life by doing so.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am new to the android, migrating over from blackberry. The first thing I have noticed is a considerable difference in battery. On my bb from tmobile, I was getting a day or 2 of battery life with a lot of use. Hundreds of text a day, emails (2 accounts), talk, and web browsing. I got my mytouch 3g slide yesterday it charged for about 6 hours. I took it off the charger around 9-930 at night. I played with for a while, went to bed and got up and it was at less then 30%. Now when i went to bed, i was only missing a little bit of battery. I didn't think it would drain that much overnight with no use. That is going to be a serious problem because of the amount i use my phone. I am currently charging again. Does it take a couple of charges before the battery life will reach it's peak? Also with my bb, i was getting 1 bar of signal and constantly switching from 3g, to edge, to gprs. With MT3g, i am getting 1-2 bars. Does poor signal drain the battery faster?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI updated my Evo to 2.2 when it came out, but I just noticed something about flash in the browser: I cannot interact with any of the buttons. For example, when browsing the youtube full site in the browser (not the youtube app) you can hit the button to turn on captions, and hit the other button to switch to HD resolution. For some reason, I cant figure out how to hit those buttons. I tried zooming in all the way, and I hit the resolution button, and the resolutions popped up for about .5 of a second, then went away, its too quick to hit it. I tried double tapping the flash to make it full screen and that doesnt work either. The only thing I can get to work is the slider bar, which seems to work fine.

Then unplug, turn the power OFF (Don't just put it to sleep, power the phone off completely) then plug it in (the led light should now be red) charge until the light turns green again, probably like 10 or 20 minutes. Makes a big difference! I learned this in another thread but I can't find it now. Thanks to the original poster!
Update 1: I did this method again this morning 10am. It's now almost 11pm and I still have a 60% charge! I made several short phone calls, checked email, texts throughout the day, and took about 35 pics. I also spent a fair amount of time looking at them. Granted I wasn't on the phone as much as the first few obsessive days of owning this baby but still, I'm very happy with this battery trick.
Update 2: I want to add this quote by 'jasonb1985' from a different thread:"if you take it off of the charger right as the light turns from orange to green then you'll actually have a full charge. if you let it charge overnight then you'll wake to a phone that quickly falls into the mid 90's." I have to agree with this. Even with my charging method above, if you let it stay on the charger too long after it turns green for the second time, the battery level will quickly drop after removing it from the charger. I've found it's better to remove it around the 20/30 minute mark even if the light is still red rather than let it sit there and miss when it turns green. Of course the best case scenario is to take it off the charger the moment it turns green but that's not very practical.One more thing I've noticed is that if you spend a lot of time in a location where there is little or no reception such as a hotel or basement etc, your battery will drop very fast. Best to put it in airplane mode in those situations if possible.
Ever since I received the froyo update, my phone will randomly state "BATTERY IS FULL". This happens generally below 90%, sometimes as low as 60%. Even stranger, this only happens when the phone isn't being charged. And it never happens when the battery is actually full.

but i read a while ago that for Li-Io batteries the most efficient charge range are 10%-90% so basically that means the full charge -discharge cycles aren't good for the battery but harmful as it cause them to die faster..
anyway i considered this reading as a good theory until i bought a sony vaio laptop which had a battery preservation feature (it limits the maximal charge to 80% or 50% depending on the option) and for more that a year and a half my battery still performed well (less than 4% degradation) so i thought this was a real deal after all.
still the use cases for a laptop and smartphone are vastly different (the laptop can sit with 50% charge just fine since it will be on charge most of the time while the smartphone has to get the maximum amount of energy to last without a charger)
so is there (or can it be made) an app that can limit the charge (to 80% or 90%)
i got this problem recently after installing a bunch of new app, till this point with all app & wi-fi on ,it took about a day to recharge,when i used my phone with all functions, but now: i uninstalled most of those new app,i turn wi-fi,gps,3g off,kill all background tasks with task panel,even so, with a full charge battery in STAND-BY, it takes just about 3-4 hours for battery to be empty! any solution please? i can't use my phone in real way any more because if i brows internet or use any app it is gonna empty in less then 2 hours,battery app tell me battery has excellent health too? the only new app that i didn't uninstalled is battery widget itself,could it be the source of this problem? the other change i had were: i gave quick access(show application in notification bar) for "toggle setting" & "task panel".

View 2 Replies View Relatedbuilding on the discussion about the inc starting to drain from the battery after it reaches 100% (if left on), is there an app or a setting on the phone that would play a notification sound when the battery light goes green or the battery reaches full charge? of course the light turns green, but i'm not watching my phone. if i could have it set off a notification sound when it reaches the green light/100% full, i could remove it from the charger promptly. i am pretty sure i read all the battery threads correctly, and that the problem is that after it reaches 100%, if left plugged in, it starts to run on battery not wall charge, so it depletes the battery even while it appears to be charging (in fact, it is no longer charging). right? that's why i'd like something to notifiy me audibly when it is at 100%.

View 27 Replies View RelatedI have my phone plugged in and it will pop up all of a sudden with fully charged, so I unplug it. then, a minute later, it all of a sudden says 50 percent battery. so I plugged it back in. and a minute later it says 100 percent again. then, when I unplugged it, it said 48 percent charged. why is this happeniing? any fixes? this is, by the way, my second phone- the first was classified doa, and replaced. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my Desire for about 3 week snow. I absolutely loved it at first but am becoming increasingly frustrated. Main problem is the battery needs charging so often. I have done all the things suggested, dimmed lights, changed wall paper,turned off internet etc., but after playing a few games and making a couple of calls back to the charger it goes.
Now, today I went to send an sms and it says phone is full and won't let me send a text.! What's with that? 3 weeks old and it's full? I'm in shock. I have deleted as many msgs as I can and deleted some apps I don't use but still I can't send a text or open one. I really don't know what I can delete and now think this is going to be an eternal problem. This phone has turned from a huge delight to a huge disappointment for me and I haven't even paid my first bill.
