I've had System Panel's monitoring feature enabled overnight and I've noticed something using the CPU all night at between 1 and 2%. I have managed to track it down to a process called 'Suspend'. I just wondered if this was normal for whatever this process is? I would have thought the CPU should be at 0% if I'm not using the phone.

well the last couple days, my phone has been using data almost every second. i dont have the facebook widget, flickr or friendstream, only the weather one. my mail is set for every 5 minutes. i checked spare parts, it didnt show any apps using a large amount of data. i havent installed any new apps this week, so it shouldnt be a new app, though it could be an existing one.

I've googled around but most people with a reboot issue it is random, mine is constant and has been rebooting constantly for over an hour, only way to stop it is yank out the battery but still can't boot afterwards.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded 2 different apps, 3g watchdog & netcounter which both show the amount of 3g data usage for the phone. Just yesterday, I managed to apparently use nearly 20mb of 3g data, although I was barely on the web. I must've checked my facebook a couple of times, read a few emails, and that was it. I've also installed a task manager app which closes all running apps, which I always use before locking the screen and putting the phone in my pocket. So as far as I know, there shouldn't be any apps running or using any data at all. It may be that push email may be using a bit, but surely not 20mb in one day?? It's also only one email account and the full html version of the email is never shown. I'm with Vodafone, and their supposedly "Unlimited" internet is capped at 500mb, which means at the rate that my phone is apparently going now, I would have maxed that out in a month hardly using the internet at all! I doubt that the data counter apps are wrong as they are both showing the same usage. They've both had really good reviews by other users as well. However, I find it extremely hard to believe that I used 20mb in one day when I only looked at possibly 3 web pages. The counters actually show that I used over 1mb after 30 mins, even when I wasn't running any apps.

And I have the Modaco mod, and I know it said there was a chance it could go wrong. But I tried nandroid restore and it didn't work, now I'm still in a boot loop, what should I do?
Since upgrading to Froyo when I get a text and have read the message and returned to the home screen it still shows as if I have a message. I have to go back into the messages and then back to the home screen for it to go away.

All was fine when I first purchased it back in April (or whenever it was first released in Ireland) - I installed & played around with a countless number of apps and uninstalled the ones I found I didn't use frequently. In the past 4-5 weeks however, I'm constantly getting the "running low on internal memory" message appearing in my taskbar. I had to uninstall a lot of apps, including ones I did use frequently, in order to install the Froyo update and now I'm basically left with 15MB of internal storage and just over 20 apps installed (some of those are simple widgets).
These 20 apps installed on my internal phone memory accumulate to just over 41MB. Only 8 of my apps had SD storage activated. For a phone that touts 512MB of internal storage, I would love to know what on earth is taking up the other 446MB. Any ideas? It's so unbelievably frustrating having to uninstall apps I use on a daily basis (DropBox, Gowalla and so on) and I'm getting fed up.
Oh, and FYI I've cleared the cache in every app and rebooted several times but to no avail.
Installed the new updated 1.3 version of Facebook for Android this morning. when i checked my phone just now i noticed battery is lower than it should be. a look at the Battery Graph (separate app) shows that it's draining constantly... so i checked the PARTIAL WAKE USE via the Spare Parts app. and voila: the new facebook up stays awake constantly. that's despite having any connectivity turned off (via the network connection switch; i only turn on when i need it to save battery).

I've a number (6) of new thread created using pthread_create and pthread_join is called on each thread. But It does not suspend the main (calling) thread. I believe this relates to the port of pthread lib to android.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed a weird battery drain on my EVO over the last week or so. I've got the System Panel app, and it appears there's an internal process called "suspend" that is running the CPU at 50%-60% while the phone's supposed to be asleep.
I have the un-updated facebook app, and it doesn't have any login information anyway. The problem started occurring around the time I installed Pandora; have there been any reports of problems with that app? Alternatively, does anybody know what might be causing that process to chew CPU cycles?

It basically vibrates every minute (like a motivator). However, when the phone is locked with screen blanked out, I don't sense any vibration. Perhaps Android is freezing the script (and hence the while loop)? Note that I am indeed running this script as a service (long-tap and click 'Start as service').
Is there a way to make this script work all the time regardless of the phone suspend state?
Update 1: I do hear the vibration occasionally, not every minute .. but rather like every 5-10 minutes randomly.
Update 2: This problems occurs if I run the script normally (not as a service). Seems like "time.sleep" is not sleeping for the specified time.
Is there any way to start my Droid Phone in "clean" mode? I just discovered that one recording app was killing my outbound phone, and I have some other wierdnesses with zoom happening. Before I go round and round with Verizon, I would like to start my phone without all the add-ons running. But I do not want to uninstall and reinstall everything, just to see/prove that the new apps are not causing my zoom problem.

this thread directed at those that did not root or unlock their HTC desire but uses its original android.. before i go on, my standard usage is as follows, mostly sms using, a phone call or two, less than an hour of wifi browsing at night.. on android 2.1, my battery lasted roughly 2 days and a bit more.. after updating to android 2.2 via wifi through auto update on the phone. today was my third day after charging my phone to 100%.
its now almost 5pm, on my third day and my battery still has a whopping 40% of battery life left.. so just wondering whether anyone else have this miraculous boost of battery life with android 2.2 or not.
I'm wondering what the best charging strategy is to get the battery working at its best. Let it run down to almost empty then fully charge each time or just keep topping it up when I'm near power?

Anyway, the manual that comes with it doesn't really cover that much, and the only information about that battery I can find is on the beginning where it says that it takes about 3 hours to fully charge it. However, it doesn't mention how long you should charge it on your very first usage: until the LED-light turns green, or more (like when I had to charge my old Nokia for 8 hours the first time)? So today I unplugged my Desire at about 6am and set off for work. It's 7pmish now and here's some stuff you may like to look at. I have 3G disabled, Sync on manual, no "live" widgets (just WiFi and bluetooth) live wallpaper (nexus) and screen brightness on auto. Here's the battery status (rounded up from 25% according to Battery Info in the Testing app)
The breakdown of usage:
My phone was idle for 9 hours and 45 mins:
The Display was on for a mere 2hours and 46 mins
With only 1.5 hours of WiFi:
And 30 mins of calls:
So, that'll be less than 3 hours of usage.
Could someone please tell me why when im sat at home with a wireless network my usage according to netcounter is climbing all the time...not worried when im on wifi...but what about when im on mobile network?...is it background data?..surely you can switch background data off and manually refresh when you need to? how do i turn background data off?

Not actually ordered yet; its bank holiday weekend so it not be here till at least Wednesday anyway. Just wondered about 3s fair usage policy on data. On the contract info on CPW it just says unlimited internet *subject to fair usage policy. Doesn't say how much that is though. Is it 500mb or 1gb?

I thought it may have something to do with google collecting location data in the background so turned off 'use wireless networks' in location settings. View 4 Replies View RelatedI was panicking a little yesterday as I thought I would miss the delivery of my new Desire. This was not the case at 5:30pm it arrived and it truly is an amazing phone. It took me around 4 hours to totally kill the battery from new (when you get the battery it only has a little charge in it) so this I was really pleased about, this was with WiFi on constantly and using it nonstop on twitter, flicker, taking photos, android market, internet browsing and basically just finding my ways around the menus as i've been out of the game for a while. I really think that the worries I was having about not liking it and reverting back to my iPhone are blown out of the window, this device really has blown me away and the integrated twitter app Peep is also very good, although I am now using tweetcasterPRO. It had a full charge last night so I am going to hammer the phone today to see how quickly I can get the battery to go flat so I have a rough idea if one charge will last me through the day.

Last month I used about 550mb of my 750mb FUP allowance without doing anything to limit data use. Nothing has changed, but this month Watchdog is predicting a total use of 1.2gb at my next billing date!
