If you read this before the edit ignore. I know better. After a power cycle the app works great. After the update make sure you turn you phone off and back on.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Phone Won't Stay On After 2.1 Update / Get It To Work?

Jun 4, 2010

Ok, my phone worked perfectly before I installed 2.1. I did a hard reset before I installed 2.1. It ran fine for about 20 minutes while I played with all the new features (I really like 2.1 when its working) but literally about every 20 minutes when I check my phone, the damn thing is OFF. Its really pissing me off. So I turn it back on, and within 20 minutes its off again. Im about to smash this damn thing. I've reinstalled 2.1 twice, hard reset, soft reset, and every combination of the 3. WTF is the problem!?

HTC Desire :: Screen Stay Black Sometimes But Phone Still On

Jun 8, 2010

Several times now my Desire's screen has just stayed black when pressing the power key to unlock it. It's like it's in a deep sleep with no way to wake it. If you call it the screen will not light up but the phone will either ring with no way of answering it or just flash the missed call light. The call can still be silenced or rejected with the buttons.

So my question is this a hardware or software issue? I'm inclined to think software because pulling the battery then rebooting solves it, until it happens again, sometimes the same day others a few days later. I always switch the phone off at night to give it a fresh start each day. I do not use any task killers or obscure apps. Phone has minimal virgin mobile UK branding on it, and running firmware 1.15.405.4 with no option to update to the newly released version.

HTC Desire :: Wallpaper Image To Stay Put On Homescreens

Jun 14, 2010

Hope the title is as it should be. I'm not sure how to put this so I'll try my best. When you have a picture as your wallpaper do you notice that when sliding between the screens they move ever so slightly? For example, I have an image of the lion in my avatar perfectly in the centre of my home screen, yet when I move the screen to the left or right it seems to move the image and cut some off. Is there a way around this?I've seen it on some people's screen shots but I'm not sure how to do it with a picture that you decide to use as a homescreen. No worries if it can't be done. It would just be nice, that's all.

HTC Desire :: Make LED Lights Stay On Until I Check It / Apps That Can Change Color Of It?

Nov 2, 2010

I thank HTC for trying to take Blackberry's notification LED and implementing on our Desire
However, I have yet to find it useful because the LED light (other than battery indication) stops functioning after few minutes for missed calls, text msgs

I was hoping once they update it to 2.2, they would fix this problem.
Is there ANY way to make the LED lights stay on until I check it?
Also, are there any apps that can change the color of the LED light?

HTC Desire :: 2.2 Update Manual Update?

Aug 22, 2010

I have the HTC Desire unlocked here in the US. I'm using AT&T as my network, and everything works fine. I do not want to root my phone. I want the upcoming Froyo 2.2 update, and I have seen that it is soon available for Vodafone. This confuses me. I am wondering -- will HTC release the new OS on their website, and I can just download and install it myself?

HTC Desire :: Cannot Update To 2.2

Aug 1, 2010

I am hoping that there are a couple of experts out there cause I have a problem. I have an HTC Desire, which should have the OTA update for froyo available. instead it has a different update which is 27.07 MB in size, which won't install.I believe this is blocking my froyo update since my Desire is Sim unlocked, non branded and rooted. The problem with the 27.07mb update is that it downloads but won't install (you first get the green installing icon but then changes to the same icon but the with a red question mark) So I was wondering if there is any other way of getting that froyo update on my phone or somehow getting it OTA.

HTC Desire :: Get Update To 2.2

Aug 1, 2010

I have a TMobile handset which I debranded with this Edit: I don't know if it is the norm but I can only install the above rom when I have my gold card in. So, I downloaded and installed 2.2 earlier. Well, it should have been that easy but mine wasn't My phone tried to updated but kept getting stuck in a loop. It'd get to about 87% and the phone would reboot. After about 6 attempts I bravely took the battery out and rebooted. When the phone did finally reboot it had 2.2 on the but not everything it needed. I had no wifi and no phone signal. To solve this I reinstalled the 1.21 in the link above, entered all the necessary info and then BEFORE I installed any apps I did a manual update and it worked. I can only assume it was down to an app but not sure which one. I am no back up and running thanks to appbrain and my backup I haven't lost anything.

HTC Desire :: Cannot Update ROM - Status 7

Aug 16, 2010

I've got a HTC Desire from O2 UK and it's got O2 splash screen when it loads, but I believe it's unlocked. Here are the following details it's on:

Firmware Version - 2.1-update1
Baseband Version - 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernal Version - 2.6.29-c8d11160 htc-kernal@and18-2 #1
Build Number - 1.20.207.3 CL171460 release-keys
Software Number - 1.20.207.3
Browser Version - Webkit 3.1
Boot Loader - 0.80

Earlier on today, I ran ?Unrevoked3" on Linux, which "rooted" my phone. It added an extra option called "Superuser Permissions", but the O2 branding when phone is turned on remains, and the numbers above stayed the same. Now I tried to load a new ROM, but they all bring up the errors below. I have tried loads of different ones. I have plenty of free space on my SD card and have renamed some to update.zip, but still no luck. One seemed like it went through, but straight after an animation of a cross played on the screen, with different colours, and this wouldn't go away even after a restart............

HTC Desire :: Install The New OTA Update

Sep 16, 2010

My Desire is 1 week old and came with 2.2 preloaded. It is an unlocked unbranded handset from Carphone Warehouse. Yesterday my phone displayed a message that there is an update available. I decided to check it out before jumping in with both feet. I currently have software version 2.09.405.8, so I assume this update will give me 2.10.405.2? If so, I have read here that there are a few problems with the update, specifically with wifi. I have also read elsewhere that HTC withdrew the update until this was fixed.

Some of the solutions talk about manual installation and a gold card, whatever that is!

Have HTC fixed the wifi problem? Is it now safe for me to install the update OTA? Or should I wait? I really don't want my phone being messed up and having to fiddle around with gold cards or whatever.

HTC Desire :: Rooting And OTA Update

Oct 28, 2010

I have a US Cellular Desire - I rooted it with Unrevoked 3 forever - only to free up some memory and take some apps off that were preloaded. I did not delete any stock files - or use a custom rom of any kind. My question is - when the 2.2 official OTA froyo update comes - will I be able to do it OTA since there is no custom rom? Or will I have to do it another way. If I have to do it another way -what is that process? I dont care if it stays rooted or not - I am new to all of this - and would actually prefer just to go with the 2.2 official froyo update and not be rooted in the future.

HTC Desire :: Should I Update To Froyo?

Reading many of the comments of people upgrading to froyo, i am at this stage rather put off upgrading to froyo. One thing that concerns me the most is, that some users are experiencing problems with the stock browser being laggy.I have a sim free Desire from the CPW.So am i right to hold back and wait for more feedback, as it seems since the update there has been more negativity to froyo than i expected. Or should i take the plunge and update to Froyo now?

HTC Desire :: Froyo RUU Update Available

Aug 12, 2010

With this RUU package you can flash your phone to the current official OTA update i.e. the latest software, radio and bootloader. If you have a branded phone, this will debrand it.This method doesn't require you to root your phone and it doesn't install any unofficial or modified software. If your phone is currently rooted it will remove it.If you install an official branded update to Froyo, e.g. Vodafone's, you will not be able to install this.An alternative installation method that does not need any drivers (or even a computer) is available.

HTC Desire :: 2.10.405.2 OTA Manual Update

Sep 12, 2010

This update appears to have been pulled (probably temporarily) as an OTA update. edit: The update is now available again OTA. This guide will still work if you prefer to install manually, or don't get the OTA offer. This update is for stock froyo release 2.09.405.8 only. You can apply it manually by following these steps:

Backup anything you need, in case of problems
Download this file and put it on your sdcard
Rename the file to 'update.zip' (ensure it is not update.zip.zip)
Power down the phone
Start the phone in recovery (press vol down and power together, then select recovery)
After recovery loads press vol up and power together
Select to apply update.zip

If you have debranded your phone you MUST have your goldcard in the phone.
