View 8 RepliesDoes anyone know where we can download the Official HTC Desire Android 2.2 Firmware Update so we can use it for manual installation into the phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my phone and currently running DeFroST 2.7 Rom Android version 2.2, (did this back in early august) I basically would like to know what the current latest update for my HTC Desire is. Is there a newer DeFroST update out there or do i now update to Froyo 2.2? Also would like a pointer in direction of where to download the latest update from?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Desire unlocked here in the US. I'm using AT&T as my network, and everything works fine. I do not want to root my phone. I want the upcoming Froyo 2.2 update, and I have seen that it is soon available for Vodafone. This confuses me. I am wondering -- will HTC release the new OS on their website, and I can just download and install it myself?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI just purchased my HTC Desire, its Factory unlocked and I just want to confirm the latest version of the device. mine is
Firmware Version: 2.1 update 1
Software Number: 1.21.405.2
also when froyo does come officially, will I be able to use OTA to install it? as the device I am using is not from my region, I believe it is from the UK and I'm using in Dubai - will this affect the OTA?
I am hoping that there are a couple of experts out there cause I have a problem. I have an HTC Desire, which should have the OTA update for froyo available. instead it has a different update which is 27.07 MB in size, which won't install.I believe this is blocking my froyo update since my Desire is Sim unlocked, non branded and rooted. The problem with the 27.07mb update is that it downloads but won't install (you first get the green installing icon but then changes to the same icon but the with a red question mark) So I was wondering if there is any other way of getting that froyo update on my phone or somehow getting it OTA.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a TMobile handset which I debranded with this Edit: I don't know if it is the norm but I can only install the above rom when I have my gold card in. So, I downloaded and installed 2.2 earlier. Well, it should have been that easy but mine wasn't My phone tried to updated but kept getting stuck in a loop. It'd get to about 87% and the phone would reboot. After about 6 attempts I bravely took the battery out and rebooted. When the phone did finally reboot it had 2.2 on the but not everything it needed. I had no wifi and no phone signal. To solve this I reinstalled the 1.21 in the link above, entered all the necessary info and then BEFORE I installed any apps I did a manual update and it worked. I can only assume it was down to an app but not sure which one. I am no back up and running thanks to appbrain and my backup I haven't lost anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a HTC Desire from O2 UK and it's got O2 splash screen when it loads, but I believe it's unlocked. Here are the following details it's on:
Firmware Version - 2.1-update1
Baseband Version - 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2
Kernal Version - 2.6.29-c8d11160 htc-kernal@and18-2 #1
Build Number - 1.20.207.3 CL171460 release-keys
Software Number - 1.20.207.3
Browser Version - Webkit 3.1
Boot Loader - 0.80
Earlier on today, I ran ?Unrevoked3" on Linux, which "rooted" my phone. It added an extra option called "Superuser Permissions", but the O2 branding when phone is turned on remains, and the numbers above stayed the same. Now I tried to load a new ROM, but they all bring up the errors below. I have tried loads of different ones. I have plenty of free space on my SD card and have renamed some to update.zip, but still no luck. One seemed like it went through, but straight after an animation of a cross played on the screen, with different colours, and this wouldn't go away even after a restart............
I have rooted my phone today, and since then i have noticed that whenever i manually check for system software updates it tells me to download and install 1.21.405.2 . I've done this several times but the update doesnt seem to hold....have i done something wrong, or this normal?

HTC Desire in Europe gets OTA firmware update | larsa | Androinica
Known features include:
Android OS update patch
Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support
Improved RUS keyboard layout
Anyone know of or can see anything major in this "oS update patch"
I have disabled auto updates ,but on two occasions now the Flash update has installed without my knowledge.
Any way of preventing it ,i know it would be nice to keep it updated ,but not at the expense of 10mb of valuable space.
My Desire is 1 week old and came with 2.2 preloaded. It is an unlocked unbranded handset from Carphone Warehouse. Yesterday my phone displayed a message that there is an update available. I decided to check it out before jumping in with both feet. I currently have software version 2.09.405.8, so I assume this update will give me 2.10.405.2? If so, I have read here that there are a few problems with the update, specifically with wifi. I have also read elsewhere that HTC withdrew the update until this was fixed.
Some of the solutions talk about manual installation and a gold card, whatever that is!
Have HTC fixed the wifi problem? Is it now safe for me to install the update OTA? Or should I wait? I really don't want my phone being messed up and having to fiddle around with gold cards or whatever.
How can look and check in a jiffy to see what apps have an update available. what i mean is how can see all the apps that need updating on one screen?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a US Cellular Desire - I rooted it with Unrevoked 3 forever - only to free up some memory and take some apps off that were preloaded. I did not delete any stock files - or use a custom rom of any kind. My question is - when the 2.2 official OTA froyo update comes - will I be able to do it OTA since there is no custom rom? Or will I have to do it another way. If I have to do it another way -what is that process? I dont care if it stays rooted or not - I am new to all of this - and would actually prefer just to go with the 2.2 official froyo update and not be rooted in the future.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAbit confused as to what to do..alot of bias reviews on here. is 2.2 really that bad? i thought it was ment to make the phone even faster etc..so tell me once you update to 2.2 you cant go back unless you root your desire right?
View 27 Replies View RelatedReading many of the comments of people upgrading to froyo, i am at this stage rather put off upgrading to froyo. One thing that concerns me the most is, that some users are experiencing problems with the stock browser being laggy.I have a sim free Desire from the CPW.So am i right to hold back and wait for more feedback, as it seems since the update there has been more negativity to froyo than i expected. Or should i take the plunge and update to Froyo now?
View 21 Replies View RelatedWith this RUU package you can flash your phone to the current official OTA update i.e. the latest software, radio and bootloader. If you have a branded phone, this will debrand it.This method doesn't require you to root your phone and it doesn't install any unofficial or modified software. If your phone is currently rooted it will remove it.If you install an official branded update to Froyo, e.g. Vodafone's, you will not be able to install this.An alternative installation method that does not need any drivers (or even a computer) is available.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've read that there is a leaked version of the O2 Froyo update, but after searching I haven't been able to find it.. Doesn't help that O2 is only 2 characters and the forums don't search for that. Does anybody have any info? I saw the RUU one, but I don't want to wipe my phone. I'm probably better waiting for the official OTA update, to be fair. It's on the 8th or something isn't it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC desire in malaysia and it comes with Android 2.1. there is a android 2.2 update for it and I just installed it on my phone
My question is: if for some reason i needed to do a hardware reset, will it go back to the original 2.1 android or will it retain the 2.2 ?
I know the leaked requirements we are good as far as specs but will we be able to update to 3.0 when it comes out or with the desire being OLD by then will they even bother?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis update appears to have been pulled (probably temporarily) as an OTA update. edit: The update is now available again OTA. This guide will still work if you prefer to install manually, or don't get the OTA offer. This update is for stock froyo release 2.09.405.8 only. You can apply it manually by following these steps:
Backup anything you need, in case of problems
Download this file and put it on your sdcard
Rename the file to 'update.zip' (ensure it is not update.zip.zip)
Power down the phone
Start the phone in recovery (press vol down and power together, then select recovery)
After recovery loads press vol up and power together
Select to apply update.zip
If you have debranded your phone you MUST have your goldcard in the phone.
I bought an unbranded (fairly certain it's unbranded) desire from mobicity.com.au. I'm using it on the Optus Australia network, and its currently on the wifi at my place. Looking to update to froyo, but checking through phone settings>about>updates says there's no update available. Do I need to wait for an Australian update to 2.2, or can i do it manually? Not looking to root at this stage though.

I tried again yesterday and same thing twice but now I occasionly & randomly get a msg when checking for updates manually that there aren't any available. Later on, back comes the original message that an update is available. What's happening? If I'm having trouble getting the update is the update even worth having. Any clues anyone?

Also could anyone help me get the best from the settings we currently have I recently made a video in a nightclub and it almost looks as if it's in slow motion! This is the only area I feel my old Nokia is currently still no top.
