I'm sorry to bother everyone with this, especially if it was already asked. My sister, her husband and her son (my neph) own an Evo. They were OTA's to froyo way back. Now, I've gotten a call from her asking me why their swype no longer works on their phones. They had a swype.apk that was unauthorized, fyi. Note: I am not asking for a link, I'm asking if anyone knows what happened. She's asking me (everyone comes to me with their android questions).
View 1 Replies View Relatedso today i unrooted my phone by putting the stock firmware back on and i tried to see if my phone would update my software but it says "your device has been modified. Software updates are not available." how can i get it so it will update?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty much done with rooting, so i've unrooted with DM. However, I no longer have the android marketplace. The droidmod forums are a goddamn ghost town, so I've decided to update to 2.1. Hopefully it will fix my problem. Now that my phone is unrooted, how can I force it to check for the 2.1 update? I remember reading about a number sequence that one dials, which forces the phone to check for updates.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA while back I had my brother root my Samsung Galaxy S3 for me. I unrooted it using SuperSU but when I went to install the latest KitKat update (4.4.2) it flashed the yellow triangle and said I had unauthorized software and I needed to contact the Verizon store. I did the down volume-home-power thing and took care of that but it is clear to me that even though SuperSU says my phone is unrooted it isn't. How do I really unroot my phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone implemented an Android Shake Detector that works well on most phones?I thought it would be fairly simple to implement but I keep getting false results. Basically, what I'm doing is setting up a sensor Listener, checking to make sure it is a SensorManager.SENSOR_ACCELEROMETER event, then only checking the event if the last event I received was more than 50 milliseconds ago (to try to reduce the amount of checking I do). Then I look for 3 "Shakes" within 4 seconds.A "Shake" to me being a speed reading of over 1000 followed by a speed reading of less than 400 within 1 second. If I don't get three "Shakes" within 4 seconds then the counter is reset to zero.At times it seems to work well but I continue to have instances where I just pick up the phone, and it triggers all three shakes, which makes very little sense to me because at other times, I can physically shake the phone quite hard, and not trigger all three shakes. As I said.. it works about 90% of the time correctly, but a 10% error rate is making the feature I want to implement useless.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had ShootMe running, but later when I shook my phone it didn't take a screen shot, so when I went back to it, I saw that I had to re-open it. Does Android keep closing it after a while?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI haven't downloaded taskiller yet cause i just got the phone couple days ago, but i've been reading up on the reviews and it seems like people are having problems with it after the new update. Is there an app killer that works with the new update? I loved using it when i had the samsung moment, seemed to help my battery life and helped my phone run smoother since i rarely reboot it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have just updated to version 2.1 and noticed my push Gmail wasnt working. I then went into the Google Mail application and can see its not showing any emails in the inbox and its not downloading any mail in "All items" either. Its only showing emails prior to the update. If I hit refresh it spins for a few moments and I see the data arrows indicate transfer but it doesnt refresh the inbox.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust updated to Froyo, and my camera no longer works, neither in camera or video mode. Tap the icon and the screen shows the white startup icon, then goes back to the home screen. I'm on 3 in the UK, and have an unbranded, un-locked handset, as sent to me by 3. The phone is not rooted.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI just got off the phone with Tmobile since my visual voicemail wasnt setup, and took the time to ask if they have any word on an update to their android line up. He said he just received an email today from up top that yes Tmobile is working with Google to provide an update to the Cliq, Behold II, and myTouch(Not sure if I heard G1 or not).So the fact that the reps have gotten word of it makes me feel alot better about this. And his understanding was the Cliq would be first but the rest to follow not long after that.
View 24 Replies View Relatedadbd insecure no longer works on the GS3 4.3 update.
I updated to SuperSU 1.80 and CF-Autoroot worked fine, but now adbd insecure says "Binary: Insecure, USB debugging: Disabled" even though I did enable USB debugging. In Eclipse DDMS it just shows the phone as "Offline" but if I change back to "Binary: Original" it will show up normally, except of course I can't access most of the files. If I toggle the USB debugging checkbox off and back on, it will read "Binary: Original, USB Debugging: Enabled" but no combination of turning things on and off on the phone will ever get both "Binary: Insecure" and "USB Debugging: Enabled" to show up together now.
Once the Froyo is rolled out will they start shipping refurb and new phones with the update pre installed? I ask because supposedly the update is extremely secure and it will be quite a while before it is rooted (just what I heard). So if I brick/lose/break my phone after the update and have to get another one will I be stuck without root?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone who won their Behold II from Samsung last year ever gotten an update? Please let me know if you have received the first update and then the 1.6 update, also has anyone received a forced update from T-mobile?
View 3 Replies View RelatedExcuse my ignorance, but will rooted phones be able to download the new Gingerbread update when it's available?
View 12 Replies View Relatedthere are test phones out there and from what I can tell they have had the 720p OTA update for about the last month now. But what will happen if froyo is added into the final update? I would expect they would be in the same shape as many of us rooters now with the leaked version. Just thinking ahead if we will be able to install another leaked or modified version of the update over what we have now and just have it add froyo since testers are not going to be able to roll back what they have already on their end.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a no-brand (full price, 499 €) X10 bought in Italy as soon as released on the market. I still have the old R1FA014 firmware, and both SEUS and the OTA application say that I already have the most recent firmware. However the rest of the world had R1FA016 and now some operator-branded phones are receiving R2BA020 firmware. How it is possible that branded phones are receiving the update before full price unbranded phones? I'm so dissatisfied with Sony Ericsson. I always had Ericsson phones, but now I'm really disappointed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just having one of those moments of thought about switching my phone from an Incredible to the Droid X, still tossing the idea around, but say I do....what happens to the apps that I bought on the Incredible...would they be useable on say a newer Android based phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that lets you easily move your apps and info from an old phone to a new one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIf your download fully cancels in the middle, do not resume the download. When you try to resume - the phone will think you want to resume installation [it thinks the download is complete] and will update the phone with the partial firmware download. For those phones that were bricked, that is what was said happened to them - myself included. Now, why would the update not realize the firmware isn't complete and just abort the update is beyond me. Many of us ended up with paperweights from that. Had to go to AT&T to replace the phone last night.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought I remember seeing a thread about this, but couldnt find it. got a new replacement from sprint a few weeks ago. Ever since, the internet (3g) is horribly slow. Speed tests confirm the 3g will not get above 200kbps ever, no matter where I am. So obviously, I know this is a hardware problem, as sprint has already refreshed my network, and made me do a hard reset. They want me to take it into a store so they can "check it out" before they send me a new one. Problem is, I'm rooted. I used unrevoked, and am still on the stock rom, so it should look normal. The only thing I rooted for is to be able to use wireless tether. So the question is, can I just remove the superuser app and wireless tether temporarily while they check it out? Or should (can) I flash S-on first too? I know how to unroot, but I really dont want to have to spend a few hours re-installing all my apps and settings after.
