HTC Desire :: Overheating - Battery - Vibration

Jul 19, 2010

My main problems were: Over Heating. It gets hot very fast, even if I don't use it very much. Battery: It lasted for max 12hours, with some internet, sms and etc. Vibration: It was not vibrating for some time. Because I live in Lithuania, they will send it to Latvia to check If it works good, if not my carrier will change the phone (So all of these problems would be real, then everyone who has them, should go to their shops and etc. to get their phones changed)

HTC Desire :: Overheating Specially Near Battery Area

Jul 23, 2010

Basically, if i play any games for about 10 minutes the phone gets hot. Not like a boiling, burn your fingers hot, but hot enough to cause the phone to power off/restart. It gets hot from general use too, browsing the internet and such. This cant be normal can it? Its getting hot under the battery near the sim card, and the front of the phone gets hot too. I know this may have been posted before but i looked at the other threads suggested about overheating and they didn't apply.

HTC Incredible :: Overheating Of Phone Specially Battery

May 1, 2010

I used the camcorder on my Incredible today while outside to shoot some footage and test out the quality. I had the camcorder running for about five consecutive minutes and noticed the back of the phone was hot (it's in the Verizon shell/holster combo). I have BatteryLife running and it said the battery was overheating at 118 degrees. I turned the camcorder off, but it stayed that way for at least half an hour afterwards, even though I had gone inside. It was around 85 degrees outside, which may have been a factor. The Incredible is my first smartphone, so I'm slowly learning what it's all about. I'm not sure what is considered an acceptable temperature. Even though it was hot out, it struck me as odd that the battery would heat up like that.

General :: I9300 Extreme Battery Drainage And Overheating

May 10, 2013

Before I entered the world of custom ROMs, my i9300's battery was fine. However, when I flashed my first custom rom months ago (CM10.1 nightly), my battery would drain from 100% to 0% in around four or five hours. This was only on light to moderate use, with a bit of Web browsing and Kindle. GPS and mobile data are almost always both off, other than when I need them, and brightness is set at the lowest possible 90% of the time. I checked my battery usage in the settings and there was no evidence of the renowned mediaserver cause of battery drainage, so I'm not really sure what the cause is.

Also, a few days ago my phone began reaching extreme temperatures when I executed any operation on my phone. At the moment I am typing in xda only and my battery is at 111 degrees. I noticed that it began with a certain nightly of Carbonrom and Temasek kernel.

I have done numerous factory resets and flashed different ROMs and even gone back to stock and fully unrooted, but the problem persists.

HTC Desire :: Handset Overheating And Restarting

Sep 24, 2010

My Desire is about 2 months old and has began rebooting at random times. At first it only happened if i was on a call whilst charging the phone. The phone cuts out then immediately restarts. The O2 screen appears, then the HTC screen then I have to enter my pin. On some occasions, It happens over and over again before I even get the pin entered. Since then, it has happened when the phone is charging and not being used, as well as when I am on a call, but not charging. The phone gets extremely hot near the bottom. I opened it and removed the battery and it is the phone not the battery that warms up. The battery stays cool. I have restored to factory default and installed no apps, but it still occurs randomly. O2 business said I can only have a re-furbished handset!! how does that work? surely if a product is faulted it should be replaced with a new unit. It was only 6-8 weeks old when i first reported it to them. Also the wall charger seems to get very hot, but only sometimes. Anyone come across anything similar with overheating handset or charger?

HTC Desire :: Overheating While Phone On Charging

Jun 3, 2010

I have had my HTC Desire, so I have had it for too long, yesterday it was a hot day and I put my phone in charge whilst it was on with mobile internet on, and was on my bed just under the cover and I completely forgot about it, when i come back after around 7-8 hours the phone is extremely hot and I can smell the phone. I looked at the phone and the battery had only 2 percent charge left which is odd considering it had been in charge for around 7 hours and was very slow like sliding from home screen to home screen was painfully slow, once I left the phone to cool and gave it a charge to 100% I turned the phone back on to find the phone was and still is very slow, also by hot I mean a good 60 degrees hot. Do you think I have done any permanent damage to the phone and that it will never be fast again? Also have I damaged the battery? Can any of the phones get internals damaged by this? Anyone had any overheating issues or problems resulting from this?

Now when Trying to charge my Desire it git VERY hot and didn't seem to charge, the battery was still going down when using sat nav, and increasingly getting hot. has anyone got any ideas, advice or recommendations. Also the SMALLER the better when it comes to the Lighter adapter, as its right next to my hand break etc and gets in the way if tall. Its either the way above or to get the HARD wired BRODIT cradle.

What is the solution? Is this normal?

About a month ago my HTC Desire started overheating and shutting off after about 5 minutes of web browsing. I've rooted it and all but I dont have a backup of the original recovery and unrooted stock ROM (for telus). Today it felt like it was going to catch on fire while it was in my pocket (it wasnt being used as I was in the middle of a class). I figure that I cant wait any longer for Telus to release an update that would allow me to unroot my phone so can anyone who has a stock telus desire please send me a backup of their stock ROM!

This in regards to its vibration function. due to the rather soft tone of its sound (to me at least) sometimes when my phone is ringing from a message, i tend to NOT notice that a message comes in. so i use vibration , but the thing with hand cent vibration is the vibration is a one time thing only. a message comes in, it vibrates once, and thats it.. but the ring tone goes on and on.. fiddling with the vibration settings in hand cent did not help. what i want to do is make my desire vibrate a lot more times than just
once.. is this possible?

HTC Desire :: Vibration On Startup And Shutdown

Nov 3, 2010

Does anybody know of a "patch" or indeed an ADB shell command that will enable me to disable the pointless (to me anyway) vibration on startup and shutdown. I am rooted with S-ON running stock Froyo with a "few little" mods applied such as rosie drag n drop and trackpad wake. Please don't suggest I install a full custom ROM as I dont want to do this just to get vibrate off. It seems like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

Surely if I can issue a command in ADB shell to disable startup sound (which I have successfully done) then there is a command to disable startup and shutdown vibrate??? Logically that must be the case? There must be somewhere in the startup/shutdown code that tells the phone to vibrate. I would be very, very, very, very grateful if anyone can point me towards a solution other than a full custom ROM install. For now I want to carry on running stock Froyo with my little tweaks. I am looking for a "tweak" such as a zip file or shell command.

HTC Incredible :: DINC Seems To Be Overheating

Aug 26, 2010

My DINC seems to be overheating a lot lately. Checking System Panel I see temperatures as high as 109. The symptoms are as follows: when using to browse the internet, check Face book and do email, continually for 30+ minutes - temp 102 - charging on Verizon Auto Charger - temp 109 - GPS for 2-3 hours - temp 104. Have brought this to Verizon's attention 4 times. Each time it was noted, I was told that they could not recreate it. Finally, after it getting to the 109 temp, I called and was told take it in and tell the store to exchange it. So, my questions are: 1 - has anyone else seen temps like this? 2 - if they take the phone and exchange, I lose all my apps, correct? Is there any way for me to get them to the SD card prior? 3 - do I try to get a different phone altogether?

HTC Incredible :: Phone Overheating While Charging

May 8, 2010

I was charging my incredible today and after a few hours I noticed the red led light blinking. Thinking it was a missed call I picked it up and noticed it was really hot! I have battery snap app and when I checked the status it said the battery was overheating. I had it plugged into the wall charger that came with the phone. Is this normal? It wasn't charging that long...maybe 4 or 5 hours. I'm worried about leaving my phone on the charger at night time (which is usually when I charge my phones). Does the standard charger not have one of those chips that keeps the battery from over charging? Also, when I took the phone off the charger after noticing it was hot, the battery widget said it dropped from 100% to about 90% after only 10 min. Did I screw up my battery? If so, please tell me it's covered under the insurance.

HTC Incredible :: Phone Overheating / Does Not Charge?

May 30, 2010

I was using my DI as a GPS today, in a mount on the windshield, and had it plugged in the whole time. It was about 90 degrees outside and I had the AC blasting in my car as I drove along the highway.....I noticed after a while that the bolt in the battery display was missing, meaning it wasn't getting charged, and that at the same time the notification LED was alternating between orange and green. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't charging anymore, but after I changed the vent in my car from forward to indirect (there is a vent that shoots air upward right below the mount, coincidentally) it cooled down and started charging again.

HTC Incredible :: GPS Active - Overheating Phone?

Aug 16, 2010

While making an 8 hour trek to Chicago this weekend, I learned something horrible about my dearest Incredible. She overheats, BADLY when I have my GPS on. Three hours into my drive, my phone actually shut down. So I was curious if anyone had any pointers, or had this happen as well? I had my screen at MINIMAL brightness, had the GPS on and had screen on to follow along, was streaming music from pandora as well. All updates for email/twitter/fb or anything were turned off. Now I had the phone on my shifter console, where there was no sun. But it was on it's back, so on the assumption that it couldn't "breathe", I wedged the top against the opening to my CD player so it was tilted. So air could get to the back of the phone, STILL my status for my battery was "over heat." I had no case, or holder on, nor did I plug it in to charge.

After the phone shut down I took the back casing off, took the battery out, and let it sit on the floor and turned the A/C vents towards it. But really disappointed that my phone couldn't handle the trek. Anyone have any helpful tips about keeping their phone from overheating, or WHAT TO DO? Or if I damaged my phone? It overheated 3 times on my drive...and really disappointed I'm going to have to dust off my Garmin.

Motorola Droid :: Overheating With Navigation While Charging

May 10, 2010

Has anyone had problems with their Moto Droid overheating while navigating and charging. I noticed that it really was not charging so I went out to my battery app and it showed the temp being 135. I immediately unplugged the phone, shut it off and took the battery out to hold up to the AC vent. I cooled it to below 90 then plugged it back in and it started to charge to completion (100%) without navigation turned on. The problem is if it is not plugged in the screen blanks out without going into the settings to change it. So I removed SETCPU just in case that was the cause and I tried it on my way home from work(20min). When I got home it was at about 118 to 120. So my question is has anyone else experienced this navigating while charging heat thing? Should I be worried about that high of a temperature? Also would you happen to know at what temp your phone fails to charge anymore because of the heat?

Motorola Droid :: Overheating And Phone Restarts

Oct 29, 2010

After months without a random reboot, my phone did it twice consecutively today while I was trying to navigate while streaming music (Pandora) on the way from the airport this morning. It worked perfectly on the 1 hour drive there (also on the round trip going there the previous week), but while I was waiting for the guys I was picking up at the arrival gate, I was browsing the web and still streaming music and my phone just did a "soft" restart (where it doesn't show the Moto logo, just the boot animation). Slightly annoying. At least it gets to the launcher pretty quick still. Then, maybe 30 minutes later on the trip back, it does it again while I'm driving back. This time when it got back to the home screen, it refused to pick up any sort of cell signal like it was in airplane mode, but all the other radios were on (BT and satellite). Toggling airplane mode had no affect on it. So I had to totally reboot my phone to get it to work again. I think it may be heat related, when it came back up the first time, SetCPU read the CPU at 51C/124F and that was immediately after reboot, so it may have cooled down some during that. After the second reboot I brought the clock down to 800 MHz from 1.1 GHz and it was good for the rest of the trip. But I was running the exact same load/apps on it the last trip and the ambient temp in the car was the same. So I wanted to see if there some system log/app that can tell me what process forced the phone to reboot or maybe what the CPU temp was when it crashed, to rule out software. Is there anything like this? If not, does anyone know what the max temp the CPU can handle before it forces a reboot? I'm sure there's a threshold for this, just like there is for PCs (but usually they just throttle instead of shutting down), but I don't know what it is. I would think ~60C would be way too damn hot for a CPU in a hand held device.

HTC Droid Eris :: Continuously Overheating Of Handset

So today I was driving in my car with my phone on the space between the gear shifter and the console( Lexus ES300- forget the name of the place). Anyway, I had it there and when I touched it, it was hot to the touch. I checked the Temp and it clocked up to 47.8 degrees Celsius (wish the standard HTC battery widget came with an option to change to Fahrenheit). I was alarmed as it has never gone that high before and I was not doing anything with it while driving (as that would be stupid). An hour later I was driving again and plugged it into the car charger to charge it and it shot back up to mid 40's range. Could it be the sun reflecting off of the plastic?

my phone has started running hot. I'm not talking about when I'm charging it, I expect it to get warm while charging, I'm talking about just normal use. It gets very warm, almost hot, back of the phone, above the battery, near the camera lens/sd card/sim card area. Again the battery is cool to the touch if I remove the cover, but the area above the battery is getting really hot, and I noticed when my phone gets hot, the battery life starts to drain like crazy.
