There is obviously Chrome to phone, which is utterly brilliant! What im wondering is if anyone knows any similar sort of app that allows you to transfer files (specifically MP3's) over say wifi or even the internet generally? Only reason I ask is it would be MUCH easier than plugging in a cable all the time to do it.

I bought my phone cash and stuck my O2 sim card in it. My contract comes with free access to The Cloud wi-fi hotspots but I think I need some sort of app to access it. I tried customer services but the girl said she couldn't help because O2 don't yet sell the Desire. She spoke to the technical department and then came back and told me how to access the wi-fi in my house. Any suggestions, or do I need to wait until they start to sell the handset? What if I had another handset that they don't plan to sell?!

If so, how does one go about that?And in that case, is the cloud better for backing up than lookout? Cause I'm thinking of getting look out now that my wavesecure free trial is over (dont really want to spend $19.99 if lookout is just as good and free?)

I want to access in read-write mode my data from my devices (i.e I want to be able to create a new contact from my phone or from my laptop, and my contact list must be updated everywhere)
I DON'T want to use google services (google agenda, etc.), and I DON'T want my data to be hosted on a server that I don't own. Clearly said, I want to host my data by myself. I'm running an ubuntu laptop

I don't quite know where to place this, but I have Rom toolbox pro and I want everything backed up, so when I do a system reset, I get everything back. I can backup phone data, but I don't see an option to back it up on dropbox. Am I overlooking something?
Oh, also, can I only back up app data to the cloud, and not the entire app? I'll just download it when I need it, but, I'd like the app settings on the cloud.

WinMo user because up until now (2.2 release of Froyo) I have always assumed Android wasn't as elegant, capable, and smooth as Windows (YES, I WAS WRONG).So now that I'm ready to make the switch... does Android offer any service, through my Google log-in perhaps, to back up all my contacts to the cloud (with pictures and files as well, or is the data limited) I am with Verizon and have had this sluggish Touch Pro 2 for far too long, and have an annual upgrade I'm either going to put to use on with the Droid 2, or the X!

There are quite a few cloud-based storage services out there now (Google Docs, DropBox, etc.), but none seem to have clients for the Android phones. I searched the market, and I did find a few 3rd party apps for things like DropBox, but most had mediocre reviews. Anyone use a desktop app/android app/service combination they are happy with and care to recommend?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got this phone and the ringtones for the messages worked fine than it all of a suddent switched to the "cloud" notification for when i get messages and i cant get it off of that, no other notification tone will work they all use the "cloud" ringtone i never have even selected it. so how can i get it to use a different notification or reset it, what did i do wrong i have selected other tones but none stay, i press select than i push "ok" and i get a message and it uses cloud. why? please help me out much appreciated.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently installed Talk To Me Cloud, the translation app. Is pretty cool to press a button, talk into it and get a translation. There seems to be a little speaker icon next to the translation results, and when I press it I would expect to hear it say the translated sentence back to me, but it doesn't. Nothing happens. Press slightly to the left on if on the text itself and I'm told it's copied the text to the clipboard, but pressing on the little speaker icon does nothing. I have text to speech installed on my phone, which works in other apps (well, it worked in Sportypal anyway), so anyone know if there is a way of making this work? Should it work?

Is google sync enought for it? I have synced all my calendar and contacts to the google cloud. Will android pull up everything when i put my sim and activate it? The usual method of exporting everything to outlook seems so cumbersome.

a) Notes can be entered on either the phone or on the PC
b) Notes can sync via data cable (wireless is fine but not necessary)
c) No data stored in the cloud

Of the 2GB dataplan that AT&T automatically added once I plugged my SIM card in, I've only racked up 50MB of data for the whole billing period (which ends in a couple days). I like Android but don't need 3G or Internet.
