Aug 15, 2010Is there anyway of changing the button to initiate the unlock on the desire? I am so used to using the home button on my G1 its starting to grate me.

The only one I could find takes 6 seconds before it locks.

Oct 28, 2012I am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?

Oct 28, 2010Is there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

General :: Remove Pin Lock (OK) Button
Apr 11, 2012On the Android Pin Lock screen, after entering the 4 digit number you have to hit OK before it unlocks. I want to remove this need. If the number I enter is correct, I do not want to have to hit OK to unlock the device. I'm not above doing some tinkering with my phone, but wouldn't know where to start. Maybe there's even an existing mod to do it? I can't be the only one who finds it annoying.
My phone is the Samsung Vibrant T959. I use 2.2 and 2.2.1 ROMs.
I know that there are other lockscreen apps, but I do not want to use any and want to stick with the stock Android one.
How do you remove/bypass the need for OK press on the Pin Lock?
HTC Incredible :: Lock Button Not Working During Call
May 18, 2010I did quite a bit of searching the web for a solution to my problem with the HTC Incredible. Surely I cannot be the only one with the problem? I answer a call, I'm holding it talking, and the screen turns on then turns off, turns on, then turns off, speaker phone on, I have to click it off, mute on, I have to press it off. etc, I know its just the heat from my cheek from talking, but it goes right through the lock button. What is the point of locking the phone if on a call so this stuff wont happen when your touch (my cheek in this case) just goes right through the lock. I have tried in vain to find an app that could fix this perhaps, but most are just for answering the call or dialing a call, or something to that effect. Any info on how to keep the phone locked when I press the lock button would be appreciated. I love the phone but I am using another phone to make calls because I cant use the Incredible to talk. I don't feel I should have to keep turning off the mute or speaker phone or locking the phone to turn the screen off every two or three seconds.

Nov 16, 2013After having an IPhone 4s for two years i decided to switch to a galaxy s4 to see what it was like. My first touch screen device was a cheap rubbish MID rocketchip tablet running android 1.7. Every since then and seeing my friend using his HTC wildfire and how laggy it is in things like scrolling i always though iphone was better until i got the S4, realising that with the latest android scrolling was smooth (although can still be laggy at times but rarely) and with all its customization etc i don't like iphones as much as i did but don't completely dislike them just don't think i'd go back to one. That said i do miss some of the apps that i can't get on android.
Anyway whilst i love the galaxy s4 i found what you could say in a design flaw but it's also a good design at the same time. Samsung as positioned the lock/power button on the right side of the phone. Which ok is more natural when holding the phone and other phones are the same too but i've noticed a problem although it could just be me. Whenever i play a game or use any app in landscape mode i've found myself accidently pressing the lock button so i have to make sure that i haven't placed my finger on top of it as where it's placed is natural for my fingers to hold the phone in landscape mode. As i say might just be me that can't hold it properly. Anyway i was wondering if there is a way i could disable the power button in landscape mode so that if i press it, it won't do anything. I was thinking of using tasker but doesn't seem to be away to disable buttons.

Oct 18, 2013I've hadf my kyocera rise through Virgin Mobile for a little over a year now and for the first time, I'm having an issue. My power/lock button has somehow become extremely sensitive to the point where it's a pain. I can slide my finger over the button to activate the lock/unlock sequence and after I press the button the power off option comes up. If I stick a needle under the button, it stops so I assume something is wedged in it. But No matter how often I clean it out with a needle, it continues to mess up.

General :: Little App Or Widget / Button To Just LOCK The Screen?
Dec 22, 2012There seems to be plenty of adequate little homescreen button apps to lock the screen. but they turn it off at the same time. I want the option for both. I already have one that turns the screen off, now I want a different one that just brings up the ICS default lock screen (the one that shows up just after turning the screen back on or at OS startup - if you set it to have lock security).
I'll put em in the icon group on the home screen.
It's cos sometimes I just need to lock the screen while carrying the phone for a short while [and don't want to touch something while grabbing it by the screen], then easily [without having to press the power button] unlock phone again to resume using it once I'm done carrying.

Oct 9, 2010I have a pattern unlock on my Samsung Galaxy S 19000. If I want to lock my screen manually I simply press the power button briefly which works fine. I now use a skin on my phone which doesn't allow for easy access to this power button so I'm wondering if there's an app that I can use to lock my phone screen without having to press the power button. I have looked at "lock 2.0", however, it seems to be more for actually unlocking the screen.

Nov 21, 2010After being a dedicated bb user, I recently switched to a droid. I'm completely satisfied, however, I have had a small issue with my lock/power button. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but my power/lock button seems to be "stuck". I can still push it, but it's not as "click able" as when I first purchased it. I wish I could explain it better. I actually went to verizon a few days ago, and they weren't much help. The tech actually sprayed some of that air in a can stuff, which temporarily made it better. However, it now seems stuck again. Has anyone had this problem? Sorry for being such a new b!

Dec 20, 2009Anyone notice that the unlock/ lock button on top of the phone seems to go deeper in? meaning its not as tight/ it works still but doesn't seem the same as when i got it first? im afraid that it will stop working at one point. i am past the 30 day and would have to get a certified like new. i called tech support and they said they have no replacement phones in their warehouse currently and i would have to call back maybe tomorrow.

Mar 17, 2010I just got my Milestone from Telus here in Canada. When the phone powers up, two 'sliding' buttons appear. A green one on the left to unlock the phone, and another one on the right to silence it.
When holding the phone in one hand, the green unlock button is too low on the screen for a comfortable flick with the thumb. If it were on the upper third of the screen instead of the lower third, this would be much easier.
Any way to move it higher on the screen?

Mar 20, 2012Any app that has secure lock screen like with pattern or code unlock, but also has access to camera app straight from lock screen without unlocking the phone... though there would be another security needs to be applied that if the phone is used by someone else, they can use it to take pictures or videos but cannot go into gallery or review other data if the camera is activated by straight from unlock screen....and then, if one needs to access the gallery from there.. they need to draw secured pattern or key in the unlock code....
