i just got my desire afew days ago, i installed dolphin browser which i love but each time i visit a site i normally go on, it keeps on force closing down. its like a pop up that tells me internet explorer etc needs to close. now i have the update 2.1 which came with the phone but is their a way of fixing this issue? quite annoying.

I am running the OTA version of Froyo on my non-rooted Desire and I am finding that the HTC Sense UI seems to force close about once a week. The main culprit seems to be the HTC News widget as it most often seems to occur whilst I am reading my news each morning.Anyone else experienced this or know the solution?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on orange, and I've just updated from 1.15.61.10 1.22.61.1 then to 2.17.61.2 (2.2 - froyo). After updating I've been getting quite a few process.android.acore force close messages. This error message was coming up during anything and everything I was doing. So I've done a factory reset, but after that, I'm still getting the messages. Maybe not so frequently but still getting them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post but have been reading the forum since I got my desire 3 weeks ago.... love it so far, but I have just come across a problem, When I go into settings followed by "manage applications" I get an error that a process has failed, and then I can only quit using the force close button. I have tried restarting the phone and no new apps have been put on recently. Does anyone know what I can do to be able use the app manager again?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have had a desire for a couple of months now and have recently been getting an error with the gmail app. Whenever I open it and scroll down it comes up with "Loading conversations ...." then it pops up the force close error "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". It then closes the Gmail app.I have tried to the factory reset option and clearing the gmail app cache but this does not rectify this error. Short of sending the phone back to Vodafone or HTC I am stuck.

I'm not using an app to end these, just the Settings/Applications/Manage applications.
Facebook is a huge application, as such I've had it installed in /system for a while now, however last night I decided I would upgrade to Facebook 2.0, when moving it to system the app force closes upon start.
I've tried totally uninstalling/reinstalling it, clearing data/cache/dalvik to no avail, any pointers? or is this simply how it is now?

Just did the OTA froyo update from O2 last night. All appeared to go well and successful, past the point where I heard other people's got stuck.But when I slide down the slider and put in my password, it gets stuck in a force close loop for com.htc.launcher. Seems to not be able to open sense and keeps looping round.I saw a post from someone saying they had that problem, but then they just hit the search button and got the quicksearch, went to settings, then cleared the data for the appropriate application and then it worked fine.But when I hit the search button, nothing happens. If I hold it down, I get the google voice search, but I can't seem to get to settings from there.Does anyone know another method to get into settings as I'm hopeful this will fix my problem as suggested by some others. I'd much rather that than take it back to O2.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn both 2.1 & 2.2 I have found that occasionally the browser progress bar will only get 90% before becoming getting stuck. You can try as many times as you like to view the page but it will always get stuck.The only way I have found to cure this is to force stop the internet app, then everything is fine again. Anyone else seen this or know how to stop it occurring?

I can install and run HTC Sync on my laptop okay. I can even sync my Desire no problem. Trouble is, while I have HTC Sync on my laptop, Windows Explorer will not work. It shuts down and then tries unsuccessfully to restart. Doing a system restore to remove HTC Sync cures the problem. Anyone else having these problems? Any ideas how to fix it. I am running Windows 7 (32 bit).

On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.
View 35 Replies View RelatedI have a Desire and I'm trying to transfer MP3s and video across in Windows Explorer. However I can only seem to get around 100MB of files across then I get the error message:
Cannot read from the source file or disk
I'm using a 16Gb card that worked fine in my G1. Windows reports that there is over 14Gb free. I've tried formatting the card via the phone and using other software to transfer the files eg Doubletwist but I still get the same problems.
Is there someone that could answer a few question about estrongs file explorer.
1) When an app is restored/backed up using estrongs does it also restore/backup all of the user settings for the said app?
2) After a factory reset or firmware update can you restore all apps and settings that have been backed up?
3) Can you select more than one app at a time to backup/restore.
4) Do the backed up apps that where originaly installed from the market still show up in the market as installed after a restore?
5) Can estrongs backup/restore app and phone settings such as gmail & email accounts, cantacts, calendars, phone settings, etc?
Since updating to 2.1 I can't find out how to easily close explorer. Now I have to go back all the pages until it closes when I get to the first page.

I've looked around a bit, but it seems nothing is available, but most of those threads weren't this specific and they all seemed to be pretty old. are there any options that will allow her to get to this site or should I just scrap the whole idea until her company moves into the current technological age?

I give the phone 4 out of 5 stars, due to un-closeable apps and unable to attach a hand strap this is really stupid design.I find some apps can't be closed even with task manager, one of them is the build in FM radio, it won't close even when I unplug the earphone, there is indeed a shutdown button on the app, but click on it has no function, if I force it close with task manager another instance of it will start instead. There are many apps auto start by default with no reason, I use task manager to shut them down to save the resources. IMHO, by the time Android has become stable the Desire will be retired and excluded from the update

(Even on my pc, I have to use IE for this, it won't work with fire fox or chrome). None of the ip camera apps available so far work with my q-see camera system. Is there any way to "emulate" internet explorer on the android?. I don't anticipate microsoft will be making an android-version anytime soon.

Does anyone else have this issue?When I go in for a close up shot, say 20cms away, the camera focuses fine, turns green, makes a beep them shoots. All fine but when you see the preview or even go into the gallery to view the picture it is out of focus.Sometimes i have to pull back a good 50cms before it will record a focused shot. Is this the macro distance for the DHD?I know it doesn't have stabilization so I've tried this with it mounted and on timer. Still does it. But once I pull back away it behaves as it should.Hope this makes sense. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something in the settings that will eliminate this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMay seem a basic question but I would like to access my company's website which requires a username and password.
The website works on Iphone but not on Blackberry's or Nokia E63. I have tried a SGS in the shop and it came up with an error message.
Spoke with my IT dept and they said the site is only designed to work with Internet Explorer and Firefox. Apples Safari it works with but has some issues on certain rendering etc.
So the question is can Internet Explorer or Firefox be run as the Internet browser on this phone rather than the Google Chrome or whatever it has at present?
I'm using the stock keyboard which works just fine pretty much all the time....it's just Facebook that seems to be giving me grief. Since the Android FB app is rubbish, I now use my web browser to fully browse FB (using Dolphin HD and full web view...not mobile view). When I click on the field to post a new comment on someone's page, the keyboard doesn't appear. The field will highlight green and the cursor will blink in the empty field but no keyboard. This is the only place I have found that the keyboard misbehaves. Replies to comments work fine. Is there an obvious way that I may be missing to force the keyboard open?

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got an HTC Desire through O2 in the UK as an upgrade to my old SE P1i. Happy with it so far, still going through it trying to turn off and disable loads of stuff though. Here's some initial questions:
1) I got the Force Close Button program from the marketplace. Should I be using that to close programs to save battery life?
Or should I just leave everything running in the background? Camera, web browser, email, calendar and whatever else I've ever used since I last cycled the power.
2) Is there a particular Task Manager program I should look at? I've got ES File Manager and notice they do a Task Manager as well but didn't know if there's any others that people recommend.
3) Is there a way to disable the SMS threaded/conversation view in the stock SMS program?
4) And to supress the deletion prompt in SMS?...........
